Cross-species breeding has long been the stuff of science fiction movies and horror films. We humans are obsessed with human/ape mating because they are so closely related to us....it's sort of like the incest taboo that we find irresistable to ponder. Well it seems that the possibility of "humanizing" apes isn't that preposterous...
A LEADING scientist has warned a new species of "humanzee," created from breeding apes with humans, could become a reality unless the government acts to stop scientists experimenting.
In an interview with The Scotsman, Dr Calum MacKellar, director of research at the Scottish Council on Human Bioethics, warned the controversial draft Human Fertilisation and Embryology Bill did not prevent human sperm being inseminated into animals.
He said if a female chimpanzee was inseminated with human sperm the two species would be closely enough related that a hybrid could be born.
He said scientists could possibly try to develop the new species to fill the demand for organ donors.
Leading scientists say there is no reason why the two species could not breed, although they question why anyone would want to try such a technique.
I would argue that it's already been successfully attempted.

Whack-a-Hippie
LA, the touchy feely city, where even criminals are treated with tender loving care so as not to hurt their feelings....
LOS ANGELES - The Los Angeles Police Department has spent the past year trying to overcome the bad publicity from an immigration rally last May Day in which officers fired rubber bullets and pummeled some demonstrators with batons.
On Thursday, the department hopes to show what it's learned when officers try to keep the peace at a demonstration expected to draw at least 50,000 protesters.
Look, I don't care if the rioters are unemployed, smelly hippies ironically demonstrating on May Day for labor rights, or illegal aliens preposterously demanding automatic citizenship, if you are disrupting capitalism, the free market, and the generation of wealth by people better than you, you deserve to be whacked a couple of times by a riot cop.
Yeah, whack that smelly, degenerate hippie! He deserves a good flogging for running around the streets in the middle of the day causing trouble when he should be participating in free-market capitalism by holding a job. Whack him again!

No apple for the teacher
In what might be the only public school system in the world more dreadful than the US's, Saudi Arabia forces some of it's teachers to risk their lives daily just to go to work...
RIYADH, Saudi Arabia — Roads in Saudi Arabia are among the most dangerous in the world, with a high rate of traffic accidents. But one type of victim stands out: female teachers, who are dying at alarming rates because of long commutes through the desert to reach schools in remote locations.
The Saudi government appoints teachers to work in small villages where local staff cannot fill all vacancies. But unlike their male counterparts, female teachers in this conservative Muslim country have difficulty living alone in the villages, forcing them to drive each day; they need permission from a male guardian to live alone and have to find a landlord willing to rent them an apartment.
Thanks to the wonderful and benevolent Religion of Peace, they cannot drive themselves to work and they cannot live without patriarchal supervision....not to mention wearing the hideous, black smocks for a 3 hour commute through the desert. It's no wonder these middle-eastern societies haven't progressed much past the 14th century when they still view women as sub-human possessions. Boy, that's some great world religion that Islam.

N.I.M.B.Y....Seattle style
I absolutely love when smug liberals get fish-slapped by their own policies....especially smug, Seattle liberals....
Many residents in Seattle's affluent Magnolia neighborhood are fuming over plans to house homeless people near Discovery Park at soon-to-be-closed Fort Lawton.
At one community meeting, some residents wondered whether homeless housing at the fort would attract wife-beaters, sex offenders and crack addicts. They rolled their eyes when city officials asserted that such housing increases property values. They worried about the impact on schools and scoffed at the idea of homeless people shopping at the closest grocery — which sells pheasant-and-rosemary pâté for $9.99 and ground coffee for up to $18 a pound.
"We're the ones who live here, and we want to have a nice, safe neighborhood to live in," Donald Raz, a King County deputy prosecutor and Magnolia resident, said later.
Like most affluent neighborhoods in Seattle, Magnolia doesn't have any housing for homeless people mainly because land is too expensive for social-service agencies to buy.
Well heaven forbid that a stuck-up, white-bread, silver-spoon democrat has to gaze upon a dirty, unwashed homeless dude while she shops for pate' and gormet coffee. It's real simple. These latte liberals up in Seattle want to house homeless criminals in everybody elses neighborhoods, but never in their own. All that rich, white guilt gets manifested as methadone clinics, half-way houses, and city-owned project homes, not to mention pan-handling, degeneracy, and crime in the neighborhoods of us little people...so the rich liberals can feel good about themselves.
I sincerely hope this housing project succeeds. Seattle's rich deserve it.
Seriously? $18 a pound for coffee? People who pay that much for coffee absolutely deserve to have homeless dudes urinating on their front porches or trying to feel up their snooty wives on a regular basis.

Poor pitiful me
You probably saw this story over the weekend but I couldn't let it go uncommented on...
OSCEOLA COUNTY, Fla. (WOFL FOX 35, Orlando) -- Osceola county school board member Jay Wheeler isn't making any apology for his email
I told the truth! Wheeler said. We asked, “Did you at all think that might be insulting to some? Wheeler replied, "I thought it might be a wake up call and I think it's something people want to say but were afraid too.'
A little more than a week ago, the Osceola County School District decided to implement school uniforms. Since then, he says parents have complained saying they can’t afford the new clothing. He disagreed with parents and fired off an email to them saying:
"Everyone can afford Wal-Mart and if they cant they need to think about turning of their cable TV or stop buying alcohol or cigarettes and spend their money on their children."
Oh my god! That was the response of Maria Quintana we she saw this letter. She was speechless. At first and then she finally found the words, "it is insulting. I have to go to school, I have a job and sometimes it's really hard you have to struggle and to have them say something like that is really degrading."
Mr. Wheeler is exactly right! If you can't pay for cheap Wal-Mart clothes for your kids, then how dumb were you for having kids you can't afford in the first place? . I mean it's not like these parents aren't already dressing their kids. Just instead of buying jeans that are 8 sizes too big for their thug sons, or micro-mini skirts and tight tops for their daughters who aspire to be strippers, purchase the uniforms at Wal-Mart instead. Or better yet, how about giving up the booze, cigarettes, and HBO and thinking of somebody besides yourself for a change?

Parasites on parasites
You thought putting American flags on the floor to be walked on was preposterously trotted out as modern art? The deranged Europeans have one-upped us....
BAT YAM, Israel (Reuters) - From pickled cows to elephant dung, the art world is no stranger to offbeat ideas. But a group of lice-infested Germans?
Seven young artists from Berlin are trying to stretch the boundaries of art by living in an Israeli museum for three weeks with lice in their hair.
"Art is no longer just a painting on the wall," Milana Gitzin-Adiram, chief curator of the Museum of Bat Yam near Tel Aviv, told Reuters. "Art is life, life is art."
The exhibition has caused controversy -- unintended, the artists say -- in a country where the mention of lice may revive memories of Nazi propaganda that described Jews as "parasites".
The artists, who sleep, eat and bathe in the gallery, said the exhibition toyed with ideas about hosts and guests in line with a theme set by the museum and aimed to blur the boundaries between art and reality.
"The idea is that we live in the museum as their guests, and at the same time we are hosting lice on our heads," said artist Vincent Grunwald, 23, wearing a plastic shower cap to prevent the lice from spreading.
Seriously, who pays for this crap? No doubt a generous government grant underwrote this vapid drivel. It's no wonder Europe is being overrun by hostile invaders, and without even a whimper. They're too busy wallowing in their demented performance art. I guess it's perversely fitting though, that these parasites on society infest themselves with actual parasites.
Society in general could use a good de-lousing.

A new personal best
I played golf this morning with a friend of mine at a local course called Bentbrook here in Alabama. My previous best for a round was 83, which I shot a long time ago. Today I shot a blistering 38 on the front nine and struggled a little with a 43 on the back. For those of you who were learning to put condoms on cucumbers in dreadful public schools instead of learning basic math skills, that's a total of 81. But that's not all: I also birdied the par4, 1 handicap hole on the front nine with witnesses. (each 9 holes are ranked according to their level of difficulty with the 1 handicap hole being the hardest to par) I intentionally faded a 4 iron 185-190yards around an oak tree to within 4 feet of the pin, followed by a successful birdie put....with witnesses. The marshal was watching as were the foursome playing ahead of us while they waited to tee off on the next hole. For somebody who gets to play only a handful of times a year, 81 is epic! I just thought I'd share that with you guys.

Tax Freedom Day
I missed the observation yesterday but April 23 was Tax Freedom Day. If the government calculated all the taxes that you owed and forced you to pay it all up front, it would take until April 23(yesterday) before you were actually working for yourself. That's for the average American worker. Some people pay more and millions pay far less but the average is April 23. If we had a flat tax of about 17%, Tax Freedom Day would be around March 2.
This awful progressive income tax structure under which we toil stifles creativity, punishes achievement, and rewards shiftlessness. Just awful!

A picture is worth a thousand words
I ran across this priceless tidbit over at Moonbattery this morning and had to re-post it. It pretty accurately sums up my disgust with the worst president in American history.
Hat tip to Van Helsing.

It's Ann Coulter Thursday!
This week Ann points out the preposterousness of Obama's highly questionable associations such as with unrepentant Weather Undergrounder Bill Ayers. Ayers and his wife are proud terrorists from the 60's who bombed several government buildings, praised the Manson clan, and encouraged children to "bring the revolution home and kill your parents". Oh, and they also held fund raisers for Obama in the last year or two. Do we really want these kinds of characters hanging around the Whtehouse? Go here and read the whole thing. Sarcastic and entertaining as always.

NOT smarter than the average bear
It's been a while since that wild tiger tried to eat that moron who was taunting it at the SanFran zoo but, you knew it was bound to happen again at some point. And as sure as Britney takes her first Percodan before 8AM, you knew I would be there to make fun of the situtation...
THE grizzly bear that featured on the big screen supposedly pitted against comedy star Will Ferrell has killed a handler.
The 2.3m, 320kg grizzly known as Rocky featured in the film Semi-Pro, where Ferrell's character wrestled with the animal to promote his basketball team.
Three experienced handlers were working with Rocky today when he fatally bit one on the neck at Randy Miller's Predators in Action, a private US facility for exotic animals, used in movies and television, wireservice AP reports.
When will these people learn? You cannot domesticate wild, carnivorous predators. To them, we are nothing but food. Either we bring it, or we ARE it.
Would you get in a ring with this guy?

Operation Chaos in full swing
The main-stream medie won't acknowledge it but Rush Limaugh's cleverly conceived and masterfully implemented Operation Chaos worked perfectly in Pennsylvania yesterday. For the uninitiated, Operation Chaos, for which Rush is the Supreme Allied Commander, is the act of republican voters registering as democrats and then voting for Hillary in their state's primary. The republican nominee has already been chosen so they mine as well cause some trouble with the democrats, right? But for Operation Chaos, Obama would surely have already locked up the nomination. In Pennsylvania yesterday, 10% of otherwise republican voters crossed over to vote for Hillary handing her a decisive 55%-45% victory.
The idea is to keep the chaos and infighting between Barack and Hillary going as long as possible, and hopefully we can sit back in August and thoroughly enjoy the fireworks at the dem convention in Denver. We conservatives don't care which reprehensible democrat gets the nomination, we just want them to keep slugging each other and spending money while McCain keeps a low profile and the money keeps rolling in.
Congratulations Rush! Another successful campaign battle won. Now on to Indiana.

Hold on to your wallets
Like every thing else that's wrong in the world right now, it's popular to blame the imaginary phenomenon called global warming for exacerbating world hunger. As head kook of the abysmally corrupt United Nations, Ban Ki Moon explains....
ACCRA, Ghana (AP) - The U.N. chief warned Sunday that the world must urgently increase food production to ease skyrocketing prices and pledged to set up a task force on a crisis threatening to destabilize developing nations.
The cost of food has increased by around 40 percent since mid-2007 worldwide, and the strain has caused riots and protests in countries like Cameroon, Burkina Faso, Haiti and Egypt.
"We must make no mistake, the problem is big. If we offer the right aid, the solutions will come," Ban said at the opening of a a five-day U.N. conference on trade and development in Ghana's capital, Accra.
"One thing is certain, the world has consumed more than it has produced" over the last three years, he said.
Ban blamed a host of causes for the soaring cost of food, including rising oil prices, the fall of the U.S. dollar and natural disasters.
He said he would put together a special task force to help deal with the problem and called on the international community to help. He said the U.N. World Food Program plans to raise $750 million per year to help feed 73 million people in 80 countries.
The irony is that enviro-kooks' solution to their deranged hallucinations actually IS the cause of more hunger. As Al Gore and his lapdog worshippers absurdly insist that we fill our tanks with food rather than petroleum, the world prices of basic food stuffs rise rapidly, plunging already struggling countries further into misery and despair. The wild-eyed demand for bio-fuels not only increases the price of corn for ethanol, it also increases the prices of other staples because farmers are replanting fields with corn instead of less profitable rice, soybeans, you name it. But global-warming zealots in the US and abroad won't admit that bio-fuels are a complete and utter environmental and economic disaster, they just promise to demand more money from rich nations(the U.S.) to fix the problem of world-wide hunger. A problem that so far no amount of money has even put a dent in.
Actual causes of hunger in Africa:
Rampant governmental corruption, blood-thirsty dictators, tribal warfare, unchecked disease transmission, refusal to use birth control, white farmers killed or kicked off their formerly very productive farms. Do you see what all of those reasons have in common? They all require blame to be placed on Africans themselves. But for liberal boobs, that would be insensitive, so they just blame the easy target, global warming, which by extension is blaming the US.
A well fed Ban Ki Moon plots his next seizure of US wealth to throw down the rat's hole of African hunger.

Jemmah Cahtah---useful idiot
Globe-trotting, America-hating, dictator-loving ex-President Jemmah Cahtah just finished "un-official" talks with the terrorist organization dedicated to the destruction of Israel, Hamas.
JERUSALEM - Former President Carter said Monday that Hamas — the Islamic militant group that has called for the destruction of Israel — is prepared to accept the right of the Jewish state to "live as a neighbor next door in peace."
But Carter warned that there would not be peace if Israel and the U.S. continue to shut out Hamas and its main backer, Syria.
Apparently Jemmah isn't satisified with being not only this country's worst President ever and our worst ex-President too, he's competing with Bill Maher and Rosie O'Donnel for the title of Worst Person in the Universe. While in the West Bank, Jemmah laid a wreath at the grave site of his BFF, terrorist Yassir Arafat. He wanted to visit Gaza but Hamas didn't think that was a good idea. How loathsome and dispicable do you have to be that even terrorists don't want you around?
Hamas' pretend accpetance of Israel as their neighbor is standard rhetoric for middle-east terrorists hell-bent on the destruction of the Zionists. They attack Israel, kill and maim civilians, then when the West starts paying attention, or Israel starts looking pissed, like petulant children, they crawl to the negotiating table and ask for a little more land from Israel with the promise of peace. Useful idiots like Carter then insist that Israel fork over it's land and within a month of taking over, the formerly useful, productive land is wrecked and useless and Hamas has resumed attacking Israel in preparation for the next round of "peace talks".
I shudder to think how horrifying it must be to wake up every morning to the knowledge that you are Jemmah.

Blogs of note
As most of you know, I'm a big fan of cycling, both as a spectator and a participant. A friend of mine, PelotonJim, has started two new blogs dedicated to cycling that you should check out. The first one, TRIA Orthopaedic is a training guide for cyclists on which various professionals give training and health advice. It's geared toward cyclists but a lot of the information is applicable to any sporting activity. Just like any blog, you can read the posts in minutes, and ask or answer questions in the comments thread. It's a good resource for any amateur engaging in athletic activity for health or competitive reasons.
The other blog is Pro Cycling Minnesota. This blog has a half dozen or so contributors who talk about their cycling activities, charity partnerships with Nature Valley and Children's Hospitals, and other things of interest. No word yet on whether you can detect that quirky accent in their typing.
If you're a cycling enthusiast or just interested in reading about something other than politics, global warming, or dumb celebrities for a few minutes, check out Jim's sites. He's also got his own personal blog called Endless Cycle, which I have had linked on my sidebar for a long time. You cannot get better analysis of the Floyd Landis saga, doping coverage, the excitement about the US's two new cycling teams, and of course yearly Tour de France discussion out the ying-yang.
So if you're bored with your crap job, and you've read everything I have to say here, head on over to one of these sites and distract yourself for a little while....you might learn something.

What's in Ed's CD player?
It's been a while but reader Tom suggested we do a round of "What's in Ed's CD player?" in one of the threads from this past week.
Well, I know you've been sitting in your cramped cubicle, gas-guzzling SUV, or gym-that-plays-Muzak for you soccer moms, and you've been thinking, I need some new notes to listen to. And you've caught yourself wondering a lot lately, I wonder what that Ed has been listening to." Well, I've been listening to an eclectic mix of classic and new. Check it out...
From 1990, GoodBye Jumbo by World Party
From 1996, Songs in the Key of X--the X-Files soundtrack
From 1994, A Different Story by DeadEye Dick
From 1997, A-Sides by Soundgarden
From 2004, Resolution by BoDeans
From 1993, Siamese Dream by Smashing Pumpkins
From 2002, One by One by Foo Fighters
From 1982, The Nightfly by Donald Fagen
From 1989, Rio Momo by David Byrne
So there it is. It's mostly older stuff but there's not a lot of new stuff I'm really into right now.
Leave your own collection listed in the comments thread so the rest of us can make fun of you for it.

Saturday funny
File this under Stuff You Can't Make Up.
Apparently intrepid CNN reporter Richard Quest was found wandering with a companion in Central Park early yesterday morning with a rope tied around his neck and genitals. Observant officers also discovered a sex toy in his boot...(I don't even want to wonder about that). Then the article says, and I'm paraphrasing here...One of the arresting officers cleverly determined that the suspect had some meth in his pocket. His brilliant deductive reasoning, keen observation skills, and decades of experience on the New York drug task force helped him readily identify the drug. The detective was also aided by Quest who stated, ' "I've got some meth in my pocket" '.
I laughed out loud when I read that.

Tuition well-spent?
I found this gem over at GatewayPundit this morning. Apparently this expression artist named Susan Crane, wasting her parents' money masquerading as a student at the University of Maine, decided to place American flags on the floor of the student center for people to trample, and called it art.
The provost confronted outraged veterans who came to protest the display by saying- "It's just a piece of cloth". First, let me say that while outrageous, it's not so much the trampling of the flag that is the issue for me, it's the hypocricy. As soon as you ban flag-trampling, dumb, hippie students everywhere will be trampling it just to prove they can....same as burning the flag. No, I'd like to know how the University would deal with the mistreatment of symbols they hold dear. I wonder how the provost would react to trampling rainbow flags(adopted symbol for homosexuals), or trampling images of Mohammed? I think it's safe to assume they would not allow it on the grounds that it's patently offensive to those groups. The only conclusion one can draw here is that as long as you are bashing and insulting America or Christianity, you will not only be allowed to, you'll be celebrated and rewarded for it.
What a dispicable, loathsome tramp Susan Crane is! I'll bet her parents are proud. No doubt the taxpayer-funded National Endowment for the Arts has fast-tracked her to the top of their endowment list.

Election ?
In Just one year - - - This email comes in three parts: Part 1 In just one year. Remember the electionin 2006? Thought you might like to read the following: A little over one year ago: 1) Consumer confidence stood at a 2 1/2year high; 2) Regular gasoline sold for $2.19 agallon; 3) The unemployment rate was 4.5%. Since voting in a Democratic Congress in2006 we have seen: 1) Consumer confidence plummet; 2) The cost of regular gasoline soar to over $3.50 a gallon; 3) Unemployment is up to 5% (a 10%increase); 4) American households have seen $2.3trillion in equity value evaporate (stock and mutual fund losses); 5) Americans have seen their home equity drop by $1.2 trillion dollars; 6) 1% of American homes are in foreclosure. America voted for change in 2006, and we got it! Remember, it's Congress that makes law not the President. He has to work with what's handed tohim. Quote of the Day........"My friends, we live in the greatest nation in the history of the world. I hope you'll join with me as we try to change it." --BarackObama Part 2: Taxes...Whether Democrat or a Republicanyou will find these statistics enlightening and amazing. www.taxfoundation.org/publications/show/151.html<http://www.taxfoundation.org/publications/show/151.html><http://www.taxfoundation.org/publications/show/151.html> Taxes under ClintonTaxes under Bush 2008 Single making 30K - tax $8,400Single making 30K - tax $4,500 Single making 50K - tax $14,000Single making 50K - tax $12,500 Single making 75K - tax $23,250Single making 75K - tax $18,750 Married making 60K - tax $16,800Married making 60K- tax $9,000 Married making 75K - tax $21,000Married making 75K - tax $18,750 Married making 125K - tax $38,750Married making 125K - tax $31,250 Both democratic candidates will returnto the higher tax rates It is amazing how many people that fallinto the categories above think Bush is screwing them and BillClinto n was the greatest President ever. If Obama or Hillary areelected, they both say they will repeal the Bush tax cuts and a goodportion of the people that fall into the categories above can'twait for it to happen. This is like the movie, The Sting with PaulNewman; you scam somebody out of some money and they don't even know whathappened. PART 3: You think the war in Iraq is costing us too much? Read this: Boy, am I confused. I have been hammered with the propaganda that it is the Iraq war and the war on terror that is bankrupting us. I now find that to be RIDICULOUS. The Pope pointlessly dredges up the past
I don't know about you but this rubbed me a little bit in the wrong way...
WASHINGTON - Pope Benedict XVI praised America as a land of opportunity and hope Thursday as he celebrated the first public Mass of his U.S. pilgrimage, but he lamented that the country's promise fell short for American Indians and blacks.
Hope for the future, he said, "is very much a part of the American character."
"Americans have always been a people of hope," he said during his homily. "Your ancestors came to this country with the experience of finding new freedom and opportunity.
"To be sure, this promise was not experienced by all the inhabitants of this land; one thinks of the injustices endured by the native American peoples and by those brought here forcibly from Africa as slaves."
Now why, do you suppose, did the Pope feel the need to remind everybody of the legacy of slavery and our mistreatment of Native Americans hundreds of years ago? What did that have to do with anything? Maybe I'm wrong, but I suspect it was his way of telling us we're not as great a country as we think we are by reminding us of how bad of a country we have been in periods past. I think he wanted to take us down a notch. Make sure we know that we are no better than any other country. Am I wrong? Let's have a poll question on this.....

I fight authority, authority always wins
Is it just me, or is it infuriating to call a business and have to "discuss" your problem with a talking computer? I feel like a trained monkey(and I don't mean that in any racially insensitive way) having to clearly repeat some menu item so it can route my call to the appropriate support person. Do they think we're stupid? Clearly they do, because you never get routed to an appropriate support person. You get routed to frickin' Bangladesh or some other God-forsaken, third-world malaria factory where the person on the other end barely speaks English....and has attitude.
This morning before leaving home I called my mortgage company to ask a question. After about 5 minutes of trying unsuccessfully to describe my problem to a sickeningly polite, inanimate object, I became so enraged I started yelling my responses into the phone. Of course, my wife was shaking her head like, "yelling at the phone won't help it understand you". I was thinking, "I know, but it makes me feel better and might keep my head from exploding". I finally got the issue resolved but at what cost to my psyche and blood pressure?
I think this mainframe from the seventies is what I was "conversing" with this morning.

It's Ann Coulter Thursday!
This week Ann rips on BHO for his remarks regarding guns and religion with Pennsylvanians. Here's an exerpt....
It's going to take a lot of "framing" for Democrats to recast Obama's explanation to San Francisco cafe society that gun ownership and a belief in God are the byproducts of a psychological disorder brought on by economic hardship.
Sound familiar? It should, it's exactly what I said yesterday. It's almost as if I know what I'm talking about. You can go over to HumanEvents and read the whole thing. It's basically what I said, only funnier and more sarcastic.

Bush panders to enviro-nazis
This is precisely why W cannot leave office soon enough for me...
President George W. Bush Wednesday called for growth in US greenhouse gas emissions to be capped by 2025, but was attacked for his "grossly deficient" strategy against climate change.
Despite having abandoned the Kyoto treaty on climate change, Bush said the world's biggest polluting nation had shown it was serious about reducing growth in planet-warming gases such as carbon dioxide.
"Today, I am announcing a new national goal: to stop the growth of US greenhouse gas emissions by 2025," he said in prepared remarks from a speech.
As if onerous, environmental regulations don't cripple American undustriousness enough already. Just once I'd like to hear a politician stand up and say, "Are you people idiots? There's no such thing as global warming. And we are not ham-stringing our own economy and plunging our country into third-world poverty to appease environmental nazis like Al Gore who stand to gain billions from it. America stands, as always, for industrialization, progress, innovation, and riches beyond belief, and that's how she shall remain. You can follow us or get out of the way, but you will not stop us with climate-change, carbon-cap insanity." Just once!
I love the smell of CO2 in the morning. It smells like American innovation and wealth.

One voice is clear above the din
60's and 70'2 film star Brigitte Bardot has been getting herself in trouble with the insidious PC police over in her native France....
PARIS (Reuters) - French former film star Brigitte Bardot went on trial on Tuesday for insulting Muslims, the fifth time she has faced the charge of "inciting racial hatred" over her controversial remarks about Islam and its followers.
Since retiring from the film industry in the 1970s, Bardot has become a prominent animal rights activist but she has also courted controversy by denouncing Muslim traditions and immigration from predominantly Muslim countries.
She has been fined four times for inciting racial hatred since 1997, at first 1,500 euros and most recently 5,000.
"I am fed up with being under the thumb of this population which is destroying us, destroying our country and imposing its acts," the star of 'And God created woman' and 'Contempt' said.
Bardot has previously said France is being invaded by sheep-slaughtering Muslims and published a book attacking gays, immigrants and the unemployed, in which she also lamented the "Islamisation of France".
You can say any vile, disgusting, slanderous thing you want about Christians and everybody praises you, but question in the slightest, anything to do with Islam, and you're a criminal. This is where the US is heading if we aren't careful.
If Bridget Bardot needs a place to live she can come to America. We need people who aren't afraid of the submissive dhimmis in our media, courts, and government. She gets a pass on the animal rights thing for speaking out against the treachery of her country's leaders who allow the Muslims to seize control of even their speech and thoughts.

To liberals, guns and religion are symptoms of psychosis
I've been trying to put my finger on what precisely comes across as elitist about BHO's comments the other day about rural Pennsylvanians. Here is his comment about PA residents who've lost their jobs as industry leaves that state....
"It's not surprising, then, they get bitter, they cling to guns or religion or antipathy to people who aren't like them or anti-immigrant sentiment or anti-trade sentiment as a way to explain their frustrations."
It's as if religion and the second amendment are equal in abhorrence to Obama as protectionism and xenophobia. Clearly, he views religion and guns as symptoms of a working-class psychosis brought on by chronic unemployment and economic depression. I don't think it ever occurred to him that people practice their religion and hunt regardless of their current economic status. To the enlightened class like BHO and his wife Michelle, only the great unwashed, under-educated, commoners practice religion, or own guns. These are the people superior liberals think are too stupid and incompetent to run their own lives and need guidance from the government to survive.
This view of "regular" Americans as pedestrian, unsophisticated, simpletons never gets reported by the MSM because 95% of the MSM think exactly like this too. They think that they too are superior to middle-America. They're bewildered as to why all Americans aren't embracing this great uniter Obama. How dare Americans not support the post-racial candidate! Anybody who doesn't get on the BO bandwagon surely must be a racist, they think.
Stay alert people! If Obama wins the nomination, be prepared for a full-court press from the media in favor of Obama leading up to November. They'll tell you that you're a racist for not supporting him. They already refer to him as the messianic candidate....as in Messiah. Don't be fooled, intimidated, or guilted by this. He's just another politician using whatever tools he can to seize power and control you.

If you look at a child, you might be a criminal
If you thought my constantly pointing out the government's attempts to regulate every part of our lives was just more of Ed's hyperbolic ranting, then move to Maine, where the direction of your gaze is being regulated and criminalized...
Those who peer at children in public could find themselves on the wrong side of the law in Maine soon.
A bill that passed the House last month aims to strengthen the crime of visual sexual aggression against children, according to state Rep. Dawn Hill, D-York.
Her involvement started when Ogunquit Police Lt. David Alexander was called to a local beach to deal with a man who appeared to be observing children entering the community bathrooms. Because the state statute prevents arrests for visual sexual aggression of a child in a public place, Alexander said he and his fellow officer could only ask the man to move along.
"There was no violation of law that we could enforce. There was nothing we could charge him with," Alexander said.
He attended a talk with Hill a week later and brought the case to her attention. Hill pledged to do what she could, Alexander said, and the result was a change through the Criminal Justice and Public Safety Committee in the House, which made the law applicable in both private and public places.
Under the bill, if someone is arrested for viewing children in a public place, it would be a Class D felony if the child is between 12 to 14 years old and a Class C felony if the child is under 12, according to Alexander.

I'm all for protecting children, but regulating the direction of the gaze of an otherwise law-abiding citizen is outrageous! How is it different from the criminalization of thought? The law supposes the person's intent, without evidence other than the direction in which his eyes look. Who will enforce this law out in the community? Will police now be tasked to discern the intent of a person whose eyes he dislikes the looks of? Will panicky soccer-mom, do-gooders run around public parks calling the cops every time they see an unescorted male who is facing the general direction of her toddler(wearing a protective jungle-gym helmet no doubt)?
Quick, somebody call the cops. Russel Crowe is on the loose.

Capital crime's expanding definition
I'm probably not the best person to be rendering an opinion on the death penalty where kids are involved, as I am an unempathetic SOB who couldn't care less about how harsh is the punishment for guys who victimize children. That being said, as the rule stands now, a life has to be taken for the perp to be eligible for the death penalty.....as it turns out, not so much....
WASHINGTON (Reuters) - The U.S. Supreme Court this week hears arguments about whether the death penalty can be imposed for child rape, taking up for the first time in more than 30 years whether a crime other than murder can be punished by execution.
The nation's highest court has set arguments on Wednesday on whether the death penalty for the crime of raping a child represents unconstitutionally cruel and unusual punishment.
The case involved an appeal by Patrick Kennedy of Louisiana, who was convicted of raping his 8-year-old stepdaughter and sentenced to death.
The gut reaction of normal people is to think, "yeah, kill the guy. He raped a child", but is that Constitutional?
We know that the framers had Judeo-Christian morals in mind when they wrote the Constitution. So the concept of an-eye-for-an-eye was surely taken into account when they banned cruel and unusual punishment. So de we as a society have the right to impose the death penalty as punishment for a crime that most of us find more reprehensible than even murder, and it not be considered cruel or unusual? Frankly, I'm stunned that a lower court judge gave a jury the death penalty option for a rape, leading to a Supreme Court appeal.
The other, and possibly more important issue is this: if loss of life is no longer the standard for capital crime, then who's to say armed robbery, or simple assault, battery, bank-robbery...whatever, could at some point be grounds for the death penalty?
What do you think?

What do you think?
Confucius say....
Why, you ask, do I illustrate this post with the Chinese characters for "beef" and "flesh" from left to right. Well, because Manderin Beef is the take-out dish I had for dinner Saturday night from the Mandarin House in my neighborhood. My wife had the Kung Pao Scallops....quite tasty!
I don't know about you but I enjoy eating my fortune cookie...with just a hint of lemon, they're delicious! Until now, I've only gotten one fortune that was in any way meaningful to me. It said..."Get help! I'm being held captive in a fortune cookie factory!"
Yeah, I went with that old joke. It's the only fortune cookie joke I know.
My fortune on Saturday said this, "Life is funny to those who think, and tragic to those who feel. Now that's not exactly a fortune but, it resonated with me since that's the fundamental difference between conservatives and liberals. Conservatives, being generally rational and logical, think their way through life, assigning appropriate levels of alarm to the things we encounter, and using our sense of humor to dismiss the rest. Liberals, being irrational, ungrounded, and humorless, feel their way along, constantly being led this way and that by their emotions, always alarmed by the next boogey-man, concluding that there's no hope, the world is going to hell in a handbasket, and all is lost.
Maybe Confucius said that, maybe not. But who ever, he was on to something.

BHO belittles Pennsylvania voters
As the Pennsylvania primary looms, BHO asks for votes by basically calling Pennsylvanians, backwoods rednecks....
"You go into these small towns in Pennsylvania and, like a lot of small towns in the Midwest, the jobs have been gone now for 25 years and nothing's replaced them...And they fell through the Clinton administration, and the Bush administration, and each successive administration has said that somehow these communities are gonna regenerate and they have not.
And it's not surprising then they get bitter, they cling to guns or religion or antipathy to people who aren't like them or anti-immigrant sentiment or anti-trade sentiment as a way to explain their frustrations."
That's a pretty big list of things to blame on job loss. Clearly he doesn't think people in depressed Pennsylvania are mature enough to deal with job loss like sophisticated adults...like him and Michelle. Alert reader freedom2learn lives in that part of the country and I'd love to hear how his comments are playing with people up there.

Aggrieved families shakedown taxpayers
This story is getting a lot of attention today. Everybody's asking, "Aren't the lives of those children worth more than 11million divided 21 ways?" I'm not asking that. Instead, I'm asking, why in the world do the taxpayers of Virginia owe these families anything at all?
ROANOKE, Va. - Most families of victims of the Virginia Tech shootings have agreed to an $11 million state settlement to compensate families who lost loved ones, pay survivors' medical costs and avoid a court battle over whether anyone besides the gunman was to blame.
Gov. Timothy M. Kaine said Thursday a "substantial majority" of families of victims of the Virginia Tech shootings agreed to the settlement.
Peter Grenier and Douglas Fierberg, who represent 21 families, said the settlement was worth more than $11 million, but neither they nor the governor would discuss its terms until final papers are drawn in a few days.
Grenier and Fierberg said seriously injured victims "will be well compensated and have their health care needs taken care of forever," and that families who lost loved ones would be "similarly compensated and cared for."
So, by virtue of the fact that they suffered a very public loss, they have a right to seize some of their fellow tax-payers' earnings? Call me a thoughtless ass if you want but, if something bad happens to a member of my family, do I get to extort fabulous cash and prizes from the taxpayers of my state as obscene compensation for my loss? What burden of responsibility to the taxpayers of Virginia have, that they must provide lifelong health-care? Do these families not have life insurance policies on their kids? Why are the taxpayers of Virginia on the hook for a shooting in a gun-free zone? For that matter, why were the American taxpayers on the hook for compensation($7billion) to the 9/11 families or Katrina families? Why are they owed more than what they provided for themselves with life insurance?
I'm sorry, these lawyers have convinced these families(for a handsome 30% fee no doubt) to extort money from their fellow taxpayers while everybody still feels sorry for them. It's a shakedown operation plain and simple. You either pay us now to go away, or pay us later when we drag weeping parents in front of a jury and blame VaTech, the state, and anybody else with lots of cash on hand for their grief. And the disappointing thing is that I'll bet not one family member stood up and said, wait a minute, this isn't right. They probably genuinely believe the tax-payers owe them something.
What a perverse, distorted world in which one person believes he has the right to the fruits of the labor of another person simply because something bad happend to him.

Light posting day
Sorry about the light posting today. I've been away from my desk all morning. I see Reid's Wednesday post has generated some entertaining, though mostly off-topic, dialogue between the regulars and the newbies. That's the way discussion threads work....it starts off as a thoughtful debate about peace in the middle east and ends up descending into whether a guy is a wholesale degenerate or just a democrat. Cool! I'll try to find time to get some stuff up later.

Neal Boortz' commencement speech
It's almost graduation time again so I thought it would be appropriate to post a mock commencement speech written, but never delivered, by talk-show host Neal Boortz. It's like reading a passage from an Ayn Rand novel. If you have kids who're graduating high-school or college next month, you should make them read Atlas Shrugged, but if they can't handle 1200 pages of libertarian objectivism, then at least give them this speech to read during their graduation ceremony....it'll be way more useful than the crap they'll be hearing.

Obama campaign reveals race hyper-sensitivity
I delight in seeing liberals get embarrassed by their own racial hyper-sensitivity and the same political correctness to which they insist the rest of us adhere. That's why this story about Obama, the "post-racial candidate", stupidly asking a delegate to step down because of her presumptive racial thought crime, is so telling. Apparently this caucasion delegate called out to some black kids climbing in trees near her house to "stop climbing in the trees like monkeys". She says she feared for their safety if they fell out. She also regularly calls her own kids monkeys when they do things like climb in trees.
Well, you can imagine the outrage on behalf of the post-racial candidate Obama. Rather than give her the benefit of the doubt as any sane, reasonable person would do, he asked her to step down as a delegate because there's the slimmest of chances she could have been referring to them as monkeys because they're black. In effect, she's being punished for something she may or may not have been thinking at the time, because a minority somewhere nuanced a racial insult from an otherwise innocuous statement. Is this what an Obama presidency would do? Usher in a new era of thought-crime legislation in which the term "monkey" is removed from the lexicon because it hurts some peoples' feelings?
Apparently, only white kids can be called monkeys when they climb in trees, eat bananas, and fling their poo.

It's Ann Coulter Thursday!
Ann is nailing Barack H. Obama again this week about racism. As he pretends to be the post-racial candidate, his campaign and his party certainly perpetuate racial stereotypes both real and imagined. Read it over at HumanEvents.

TRR opinion poll
In sticking with the theme established by Reid's Olympic torch post below, I thought a poll question would be in order. (And no, I'm not asking whether or not you agree with Anon that Richard Gere is a douchebag.) Vote in the poll and leave a comment as always in the comments thread.
Olympic Torch: Flame or Failure?
I used to enjoy the Olympics. I watched as athletes from around the world competed in events, albeit obscure or weird, and displayed their prowess. I then turned 7, some 40 years ago. I am now through with the event. My stomach has been turned many times this week by protesters and demonstrations as the "Olympic Torch" has been shuttled around the world. This transportation of the flame was intended to garner interest for the coming event. Alas, it has now been reduced to an item on the "Cindy Shehan" event calendar. The torch was extinguished several times earlier this month in Paris due to protests. Now the torch is passing through California. Many of our nations finest liberals have gathered to upstage this event. We have people protesting China's treatment of its people, control of Tibetand its monastic lifestyle, governmental dealings with Myanamar among others, and nudists wanting the games to return to their pristine origins. A vocal leader present was the above pictured Gigilo - Richard Gere. I have no idea what upset him, but always find him hard to take seriously after the gerbal in the bowels incident. I digress, sorry.
The Olympics are now a sham. They are corrupt, incorrigible, and mostly a waste of taxpayer expense. I can cite many examples of IOC inepitude, and oversight. I look at Marion Jones and her drug scandal, Tanya Harding/Nancy Kerrigan and the Pipe wrench in the conservatory scandal, any judged score in ice skating/dancing (?) -why is ice dancing a sport anyway?, Gymnastics, track and field, skiing. This is a competition that doesn't even check entrants (Eddie the Eagle).
There have been some great Olympic moments, but far to few to offset the recent mishappenings and dealings in the world of the IOC. Who cares about the Gold Medalist of the Speed Walking Competition. One always can count on drama and excellent commentary when the cyclists take to the velodrome. Forget those marathon coverages.. whoo I'm giddy. I just found this topic to ironic to pass up a diatribe on. Forgive my rant on a completely worthless issue when many important things are happening.
Bad Americans
I read this on the net yesterday, and thought it was provocative enough to pass along. Hope it strikes a chord with you. I don't agree with all the points, but many are on target. Please comment/argue/fight/ shout..... at least read it.
Yes, I'm a bad American! I am the Liberal-Progressives worst nightmare. I am an American. I believe the money I make belongs to me and my family, not some liberal governmental functionary be it Democratic or Republican! I'm in touch with my feelings and I like it that way. I think owning a gun doesn't make you a you a killer, it makes you a smart American.I think being a minority does not make you noble or victimized, and it does entitle you to anything. I believe that if you are selling me a BIG MAC, that you should do it in English.I believe everyone has a right to pray to their God when and where they want. My heroes are John Wayne, Babe Ruth,Roy Rogers and whoever canceled Jerry Springer. (NOW if they can just get rid of the spin/knock offs). I don't hate the rich, and I don't pity the poor - just because. I know wrestling is fake, I don't waste time watching or arguing about it. I've never owned a slave, or was a slave. I haven't burned ant witches or have been persecuted by the Turks and neither have you, so shut up already!! I believe that if you don't like the way it is here, go back to where you came from and change it there. This is America. If you were born here and don't like it you are free to move to any socialist country that will have you. (As an aside, we can probably gather money to help you along). I want to know which church it is exactly where the Reverends Jesse Jackson and Al Sharpton preach. Where do they get their money? Why are they always part of the problem and never part of the solution? I think that the police have every right to shoot your sorry rear if you are running from them, I also think they have the right to pull you over if you're violating a law, regardless of your ethnicity. No, I don't mind having my picture on my drivers licence. I think it's okay, and I am also proud that "God" is written on my money. I think that if you can't figure out how a ballot works, then I don't want you helping decide who should run this country. I dislike people standing in the road trying to sell me stuff or trying to guilt me into making a donation. I think it takes to parents to raise a child, not a .75 donation. It takes entire villages like this to make decent civilizations. I believe that illegal is illegal - regardless of a lawyers interpretation. I believe the American flag should be the ONLY FLAG allowed in this country. It should also be dealt with appropriately and by the U.S. Flag code, not some local politicians whim to lower it on odd Tuesdays in some month or for some stupid kid that was drinking and driving that got killed. If all of this makes me a bad American, then I am one. I want my country back and hope you do too!

Signs I'd like to have
I don't know exactly why, but I find this sign hilarious. I'd like one for our cat at home.
And this one's pretty funny too. I guess it's for the vagrants and drunks in the area...

Signs the Apocalypse is upon us
Slavish dhimmitude and multiculturalism will be the end of this nation's identity...
Floor sinks to accommodate prayer requirements for Muslim taxi drivers will be installed at Indianapolis International Airport by fall.
Many of the taxi drivers are Muslims who pray five times a day. The prayer involves many rituals, including washing the feet.
Drivers now use hand sinks at the existing terminal, which has caused safety hazards.
"The result of that is there is standing water on the floor and structural stress on the sink," Dawson said.
That created a sanitation problem and was the main reason the floor sinks were proposed, he said.
Am I understanding that correctly? They actually crawl up into the hand sinks like monkeys to wash their disgusting feet where others wash their hands? My wife sagely pointed out, "Why not make a sign at the bathroom door? NO WASHING FEET IN THE DAMN SINKS!" That should pretty much take care of it. If the taxi drivers can't pray without washing their feet, then go home, or bring baby wipes, or use bottled water and sit on the curb. This is pure insanity!
What do you think will happen when a bunch of non-Muslims try to wash their feet in the floor sinks? What will the airport do to accommodate Christians who wish to conduct baptisms at the airport? Will they install a pool for that? What about Catholics who wish to take communion prior to flying?
See, this isn't about safety or sanitation. It's about an embarrassing display of submission to a hostile religion in the name of multiculturalism. The funny(and by funny I mean stupid) thing, is the cabbies didn't request the floor-sinks...the idiots at the airport volunteered them.

Is It Time?
The Republican party brass seems to have finally found the absolute way to kill Hillary and Obama in one fell swoop. I was made aware of the story this weekend that Condoleezza Rice is strongly considering becoming the VP nominee for the ticket this fall. Get set for a big hoopla if she is ready. All this does is completely split the female vote and also helps drive a huge wedge into the Dem-Black vote. I think they have finally put together a formidable tandem to eliminate the latest Democrat attack on the White House.
This woman has unquestionably been a huge asset to the current administration. She has excellent relationships with many of our foreign allies. She is well spoken, a minority, from the south, and all of those areas play well where John McCain would be percieved as weak. She provides continuity to the current administration as the torch is passed. She also has worked hard to prove that she is capable of the rigors of the office. I also think that she may be a viable candidate to become the first non-white male to sit in the oval office as the office holder. This kinda stirs up the pot a little, doesn't it? Wonder what Oprah will say? How will Maury and Jay take to this? Seems like a wonderful recipe for 8 more years of having a Republican in office. I will stay on this isssue and keep updating.

Hillary's smack-down of Obama
For like the 4th time, Hillary laid the smack-down on Obama on a TV interview this weekend...
"I have a lifetime of experience that I will bring to the White House. I know Senator McCain has a lifetime of experience that he will bring to the White House. And Senator Obama has a speech he gave in 2002." -- Hillary Clinton
Bare-knuckles brawling....it's what makes American politics so much fun.

Reader Mail
Alert reader freedom2learn, always on top of developing stories, wrote in with this question...What is Agenda 21 and how does it effect The Great Lakes?
First of all, I hope you didn't just eat because you'll need a barf-bag after you read Wikipedia's description of Agenda21....
Agenda 21 is a programme run by the United Nations (UN) related to sustainable development. It is a comprehensive blueprint of action to be taken globally, nationally and locally by organisations of the UN, governments, and major groups in every area in which humans impact on the environment. The number 21 refers to the 21st century.
The term sustainable development is UN code for the intent to seize the wealth and restrict the economic activity of wealthy nations, specifically the US. To the UN, it's not a fair world unless all nations are equal in misery, hunger, and despair, and it's using the global warming hoax as a pretext to controlling our economy, industry, and wealth.
Look no further than this quote from their web site to pretty much sum it up.....and to pretty much make you lose your lunch.
"...current lifestyles and consumption patterns of the affluent middle class - involving high meat intake use of fossil fuels, appliances, home and work-place air-conditioning, and suburban housing - are not sustainable. A shift is necessary. which will require a vast strengthening of the multilateral system, including the United Nations..." [1] Maurice Strong , opening speech at the 1992 UN Conference on Environment and Development
To answer freedom's question specifically about the Great Lakes region, here are the specific goals of Agenda 21...
Agenda 21 sets out environmental strategies for the management of coasts, oceans, and water, the monitoring and reduction of chemical waste, the eradication of radioactive waste, and the conservation of natural vegetation and soils. In addition, there are plans for the development of sustainable farming, and other socio-economic proposals which include measures to improve health care, to reduce poverty, and to develop fair and environmentally friendly trade policies.
The aim is to promote global sustainable development at a more fundamental level than traditional aid programmes, based on common needs and interests, and on collective responsibility.
"develop fair trade policies, common needs and interests, collective responsibility".
This reeks of socialist/marxist dogma, or exactly what you would expect from the most corrupt, detestable collection of thugs and dictators ever assembled. In short, because Canada stupidly signed Agenda21, the government can impose these restrictions on it's side of the Great Lakes without debate. Without a doubt, they will affect life in or around the US side too. In the US, thankfully, the President cannot enter into a binding international agreement unilaterally. Those have to be passed by Congress. Hopefully, our legislators will resist the pressure to submit to the UN's insidious plot to control us.
Go to Crossroad and see the reprehensible UN bureaucrats' ploy to seize control of your lives.

From my cold dead hands...
Unless you live in a cave or are in rehab, you probably heard that Charlton Heston passed away over the weekend. He was known early in his career for his roles in huge movies such as Ben Hur and The Ten Commandments. Lately, however, he fought against government encroachment into the freedoms of citizens by taking charge of the NRA and standing publically and forcefully for the second amendment...good on him!

TRR weekend opinion question
This week, Hillary was accused of saying to Bill Richardson that Barack Obama couldn't beat McCain in the general election because too many Americans wouldn't vote for a black guy. Of course she denies it and who knows if it really happened that way. She probably said something like, he can't win in the general, and maybe Richardson took it to be about race. Besides, who knows or cares what democrats say to each other in secret? What ever they say, it probably has to do with expanding government, limiting our freedoms, or seizing our taxes.....it's all just different degrees of bad.
That got me thinking though, even though Obama pretty much has a lock on the nomination, much to my delight and amusement, Hillary isn't giving up as she's mathematically still alive. With that in mind here's the weekend TRR poll question. If you want to debate your answers, leave your reasons for voting the way you did, as always in the comments thread, so that the rest of us can ridicule you for it...

Organ donor alert!
As most of you know by now, I'm a thoughtless, inconsiderate ass, without the slightest compassion or sympathy for people who, through their own stupidity, hurt themselves or get eaten by wild animals. That being the case, imagine what my reaction to this story was...
ARLINGTON, Texas — A Texas man was critically injured Thursday night when he tried to "roof surf" atop a car traveling down a highway, police said.
Is there any more spectacular, or funny, way of hurting yourself than roof surfing? They should pull the plug on this guy and give all his organs and parts to people who can take better care of them.
