Why does Michelle Obama have to travel with 40 friends and at least that many secret service agents? Her little Iberian jaunt is costing the American taxpayer just over $332,000 by conservative estimates. At a time when 1 out of every 10 people in the US is unemployed and people are rightly panicked by the government spending and deficit explosion, Michelle spends that kind of money overseas. Why not vacation in the US somewhere?
Andrea Tantaros is right, Michelle is a modern-day Marie Antoinette. She's living the big life in Spain compliments of the American taxpayer while the taxpayers struggle to make ends meet. At the very least it's unseemly and thoughtless. At the worst it's proof that she intends to take full advantage of her position of privilege and endowment because she thinks she deserves it. You can see that in the picture above. The Spanish police cordoned off 100meters of beach so Michelle and her entourage could enjoy the beach unbothered by the unwashed little people. The Spanish "peasants" who got displaced look a little bothered to me, as well they should be.
