“The American people will never knowingly adopt Socialism. But under the name of ‘liberalism’ they will adopt every fragment of the Socialist program, until one day America will be a Socialist nation, without knowing how it happened.”

Mussolini would be proud

Despite the likelihood that an Obama presidency would provide us bloggers endless material with which to ridicule him, it's sobering statements like this which make his seizure of the reigns of power horrifying....

"We can't drive our SUVs and eat as much as we want and keep our homes on 72 degrees at all times ... and then just expect that other countries are going to say OK," Obama said.

"That's not leadership. That's not going to happen," he added.

So under an Obama regime, the State, not the free market, would dictate which vehicles are approved for use. The State would decide how full our tummies would be at the end of each meal. And the imperial State would determine the approved temperature of our homes. Let's hope the prolonged Obamagasm the mainstream media are having ends soon and people wake to the spectre of modern-day fascism in America, disguised as environmentalism.

This is Obama's vision of America. Apparently this poor guy must have bought the wrong car, ate too much, or felt comfortable in his home and deserved a State-approved beating.

Does he even have the legal authority to do this?!?! I can't believe he could actually say something like this and the media is flogging him left and right for it!

In CA, Arnold is already floating the idea of hooking everybody's home thermostat into a central control center so they can set your home temperature remotely to whatever the authorities determine is the correct temp.

I can see Obama punishing citizens for driving an unapproved vehicle or buying unapproved foods through punitive taxation. I can see that easily.

Americans will rue the day we elected Obama our Dear Leader.

I don't understand why so many people want our lives to be controlled. It seems that no one wants to be held responsible for anything, they want the government to do it for them. Electing Obama would give complete control over every aspect of life to the government. America is going to see a recession, for sure, if he gets elected. He knows nothing about economics, nothing about healthcare, nothing about oil and alternative fuel, nothing about running a country. I am not completely convinced his advisors do either.

"That's not leadership. That's not going to happen," he added.

This is perhaps the most puzzling statement in that entire article, mainly because he is correct. It is not his job as our leader to tell us how much we can, and how much we can drive, and how comfortable we keep our houses. It is his job to make sure we have a safe country to live in. We don't elect presidents to control our lives, we elect them to protect us from oppression.
