“The American people will never knowingly adopt Socialism. But under the name of ‘liberalism’ they will adopt every fragment of the Socialist program, until one day America will be a Socialist nation, without knowing how it happened.”

Socialist Party presidential candidate Norman Thomas

Cap-and-Trade.....an utter disaster!

If you are like me, you're probably looking for a good reason to vote for John McCain. Just that he's not Obama isn't good enough. I'm tired of voting for the lesser of two evils. Well, here's another reason to NOT vote for him or Obama.......

The three rivals for the US presidency - John McCain, Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton - all favour tougher climate change policies.
They include a cap on industrial carbon dioxide gases and an emissions trading system like that in the European Union.

That McCain stupidly buys the whole CO2-is-a-pollutant argument shows me that his gullibility pretty much disqualifies him for President. That he would institute a moronic cap-and-trade scheme terrifies me. Even if he's pretending to buy the CO2 charade just to get elected, then he's guilty of dishonesty at best, and he remains unqualified in my book.

Cap-and-Trade for those of you who get your news from Entertainment Tonight, is an insidious scheme by which the government controls how business are run. Based on idiotic computer models that nutty environmentalists designed, industries are told how much CO2 they can release as part of doing business. If the factory needs to produce excess CO2, then they have to purchase "Carbon Credits" from businesses who are well under that level. So these "green" businesses get a huge windfall that they did nothing to earn, and guess who pays for it? We, the consumers. For every carbon credit a factory has to buy, the retail price of their product increases to cover it. Everywhere this scheme has been attempted, it's been rife with corruption, bureaucracy, and uselessness.

The more CO2 is in the atmosphere, the healthier our plant life is. For you public school graduates who were learning to put condoms on cucumbers instead of learning Biology, "plant life" is the primary source of food for humans. What's next? Will McCain issue carbon credits to individuals for the privilege of breathing? Will farmers have to buy carbon credits to offset their cows' burps?

While we distract ourselves with this silly carbon nonsense, Russia and China drill like crazy for petroleum to run their exploding economies. Soon we'll be left behind because our politicians like McCain and Obama are obedient slaves to the insanity that is CO2 hysteria.

I've used this quote before but it fits this CO2 situation....The urge to save humanity is almost always only a false-face for the urge to rule it. [H.L. Mencken]

If you need another reason to vote Libertarian this year, there are worse ones than J.Mac's craven cap-and-trade sham.

Ed, this is the get rich quick scheme. Open a huge factory, to get lots of carbon credits. Then sit back and don't do anything except sell your carbon credits to these bigger companies. Who exactly is voting in this country? Not people with a brain. Anyone can see how this cap-and-trade scheme will turn into exactly that, a scheme. A hoax, a way for bigger companies to lose money, until there are no big businesses anymore. Just lots and lots of mindless fools who need capitol hill to save them from "doom".

Right you are. And McCain believes this boondoggle will somehow stop the imaginary mencace of global warming......I'm not sure I can vote for an idiot this big for CiC.

The sad part is, very few people in America actually think when it comes to visit. Everyone is quick to look at military record, and religious views, and who previous pastors were, when in reality it doesnt matter. What matters is what they think. Not what they want you to think that they think. No, if we wanted to hear things like that, we would watch Obama give one of his speeches. Look at his voting record in the senate, or lack there of, if you want to know what he is about. As for McCain, i am not completely sure what he is about. Who will be the libertarian this year anyway?

Bob Barr, the former republican representative from Georgia, is the Libertarian candidate. He's already garnered enough support to be included in some of the debates if my information is correct. And he's not a weirdo like Ron Paul.

I would vote for Ron Paul before I would vote for McCain. Paul actually thinks logically.

Ron Paul's not in the race. You should take a look at Bob Barr if McCain is too distasteful.

It would be great if the Libertarian would actually stand a chance for once. I want there to be more than 2 parties. We pretty much have to vote for one extreme or the other now. With more candidates, that wouldnt be a problem.

Actually, after Bush and McCain, we're voting for radical liberalism or tepid liberalism, there is no real conservative for whom to vote. There's something to be said for protest voting for Barr so that the GOP loses badly and we conservatives can rebuild it in the spirit of Ronaldus Maximus.

No what i meant was that there needs to be more than just Republicans and Democrats. They stand for only the extremes of society. It is incredibly difficult to make a decision if you are liberal on some issues and conservative on others. We should have instead of primaries, just lots and lots of candidates, and you vote for who you want. I know it only looks good on paper, and in reality, probably wouldnt be a great idea, but we need changes, and not the type of changes McCain and Obama want to force down our throats.
