“The American people will never knowingly adopt Socialism. But under the name of ‘liberalism’ they will adopt every fragment of the Socialist program, until one day America will be a Socialist nation, without knowing how it happened.”

Poor pitiful me

You probably saw this story over the weekend but I couldn't let it go uncommented on...

OSCEOLA COUNTY, Fla. (WOFL FOX 35, Orlando) -- Osceola county school board member Jay Wheeler isn't making any apology for his email
I told the truth! Wheeler said. We asked, “Did you at all think that might be insulting to some? Wheeler replied, "I thought it might be a wake up call and I think it's something people want to say but were afraid too.'

A little more than a week ago, the Osceola County School District decided to implement school uniforms. Since then, he says parents have complained saying they can’t afford the new clothing. He disagreed with parents and fired off an email to them saying:

"Everyone can afford Wal-Mart and if they cant they need to think about turning of their cable TV or stop buying alcohol or cigarettes and spend their money on their children."

Oh my god! That was the response of Maria Quintana we she saw this letter. She was speechless. At first and then she finally found the words, "it is insulting. I have to go to school, I have a job and sometimes it's really hard you have to struggle and to have them say something like that is really degrading."

Mr. Wheeler is exactly right! If you can't pay for cheap Wal-Mart clothes for your kids, then how dumb were you for having kids you can't afford in the first place? . I mean it's not like these parents aren't already dressing their kids. Just instead of buying jeans that are 8 sizes too big for their thug sons, or micro-mini skirts and tight tops for their daughters who aspire to be strippers, purchase the uniforms at Wal-Mart instead. Or better yet, how about giving up the booze, cigarettes, and HBO and thinking of somebody besides yourself for a change?

I completely agree. Its always amazing to me how many people in poverty somehow find the money to buy nice things for themselves, but never can find money for their children.
