“The American people will never knowingly adopt Socialism. But under the name of ‘liberalism’ they will adopt every fragment of the Socialist program, until one day America will be a Socialist nation, without knowing how it happened.”

Lead hysteria

Alright, I've just about had it with this stupid lead-level hysteria. Soccer moms and pointy-headed bureaucrats across the country are in a state of panic over the remote possibility that "heavens, there might be something dangerous in the world"...

DALLAS (AP) -- The Boy Scouts of America said Thursday that a painted, plastic badge commonly worn by some of its youngest scouts is being voluntarily recalled after a test revealed high levels of lead in the paint.

As many as 1.6 million of the badges, which are made in China, may be affected by the recall.

"We're doing everything we can," Boy Scouts spokesman Gregg Shields said.

The plastic totem badge is given to Cub Scouts, who are usually between the ages of 7 and 8. The badge has a yellow and blue border, includes a picture of a bear and wolf and reads "Progress Toward Ranks."

No illnesses have been reported, Shields said.

Seriously, is there really a problem with cub-scout badge-licking? Tailpipes of cars have harmful chemicals on them too, should we recall tailpipes because a stupid scout might decide to lick it? The problem here is not about the lead that may or may not be dangerous. It's about the unreasonable expectation of many weak-minded Americans that the world must be made totally safe for them and their stupid children or else somebody will be paying in court. Thanks to successful socialist indoctrination by democrats, we have come to expect our government to protect us from literally every single one of life's pit-falls. We buy a house that we can't afford...the government will bail us out. We lose our job....the government will give us some of somebody elses money. Our stupid child licks his scout badge and we'll sue for millions and live happily ever after.

That's the mentality of far too many Americans. The government had better remove every single risk associated with living on Earth or somebody's getting sued.

I'm sick of it!

If people really want to be protected from anything that can hurt them on this planet, maybe they should leave the planet then, because our world will never be utopia.
