“The American people will never knowingly adopt Socialism. But under the name of ‘liberalism’ they will adopt every fragment of the Socialist program, until one day America will be a Socialist nation, without knowing how it happened.”

Socialist Party presidential candidate Norman Thomas

Unpatriotic, or just dumb?

In Iowa, Barak Obama showed a startling lack of awareness when during the natinal anthem, he failed to put his hand over his heart. According to the United States Code, Title 36, Chapter 10 "Flag Code", §171.

Conduct during playing (national anthem)

During rendition of the national anthem when the flag is displayed, all present except those in uniform should stand at attention facing the flag with the right hand over the heart. Men not in uniform should remove their headdress with their right hand and hold it at the left shoulder, the hand being over the heart. Persons in uniform should render the military salute at the first note of the anthem and retain this position until the last note. When the flag is not displayed, those present should face toward the music and act in the same manner they would if the flag were displayed there.

Obama seems blissfully ignorant of proper conduct and Bill Richardson is not facing the flag, choosing to pan for the camera instead. What 3rd grader doesn't know how to act during the national anthem? Looks like only Hillary and Tom Harkin's wife are doing it correctly. (see, I gave Hillary credit when it was due)

Now I know someone will want to argue that it isn't the law to abide by this "Flag Code", but that should never mean that it is ok for Barak, a U.S. senator, to not show his patriotism. If he truly does care about this country, he should know better than to be this ignorant. If he wants to become president, he better start following the code. And Bill Richardson, well thats just kind of funny.

Code, law, rule - it really doesn't matter. It is a simple display of respect for the symbol of this fine country. Over time millions of wonderful Americans have died to protect and defend this country and its flag. These citizens are collectively rebuked when another citizen shows disrespect to the flag. Obama is no different. All one sees as they watch him, is his true character and his self over country mentality. If elected, he will probably make the national anthem optional at the inauguration and at all future governmental gatherings. Kick him to the ground now.

The big problem I see here is an astonishing lack of judgement, at best. At worst, he's refusing to salute the flag, and by extension the country, for which he wishes to serve as president. So if that's the case, where is his allegiance? Islam? The U.N.?

By publically refusing to place his hand over his heart, he automatically disqualifies himself for the office. I refuse to believe it was an oversight. Placing your hand over your heart is not something you have to think about and conciously do. You have to choose NOT to do it. The question is why?

Lets also remember that he chose to remove his American Flag pen, to show his patriotism for the country. I'm not sure how an action can express its opposite action, except in physics, but I'm sure if he gives a statement about this it will sound the same. He's full of contradictions. Also, a senator should never skip a senatorial voting, especially when it the voting is whether or not to condemn an article that accuses one of our fine men in uniform of treason. Barack is showing his true colors, and I don't see how he will even get the primary.
