I participated in a discussion thread on FB this morning about what damage the next four years under the Obama regime might look like and if there's any way to repair that damage going forward....assuming republicans win in 2016. Here's one of my pessimestic comments....
Guys, I've tried to stop being angry and resentful about all this. At this point, it's more like resignation and sadness at the utter self-destructiveness of a nation that willingly embraces servitude and dependence by re-electing a pernicious socialist as President, just because it makes them feel smugly evolved to vote for a black man.
Weak-minded, pathetic American voters have shown repeatedly that they'll gleefully give up freedom and any and all liberties in exchange for cradle-to-grave security from government....and bizarrely, they'll do it while screaming about freedom, equality, and justice.
We(conservatives) may win an insignificant battle here or there, but(and I say this with sincere regret and moroseness) the war over the fundamental structure of America has been lost. To save my own life I can't see a pathway back to what the framers envisioned.....we're too far gone and our enemies, who are proudly and openly hostile to what America is supposed to stand for, (capitalism, limited government, personal sacrifice, self-discipline, rugged self-reliance, individualism, and self-determination) are our leaders.
What do you guys think?

I hate to say it Ed, but I agree. But I think we were already there. Romney couldn't have saved us, but it would have shown America didn't want to give up and roll over. But they did. Maybe. MAYBE we can come back. Maybe we'll crash and burn. Or maybe we'll split apart. Only time will tell...
Ryan, I'm afraid America will just slowly dissolve with a quiet whimper and gradually recede from the world stage. Republicans aren't going to turn things around....at most they'll only slow our self-destructive stampede toward a moribund, second-rate, collectivist oligarchy. Save yourself if you can.
"A democracy cannot exist as a permanent form of government. It can only exist until the voters discover that they can vote themselves largesse from the public treasury. From that moment on, the majority always votes for the candidates promising the most benefits from the public treasury with the result that a democracy always collapses over loose fiscal policy, always followed by a dictatorship. The average age of the world's greatest civilizations has been 200 years."

Just sadness.
Right you are Isaac. I think I've seen this quote a couple dozen times during Bush/Obama. It describes perfectly where we are as a nation. Our days are numbered. Heck, there's already talk among some in the CBC for repealing the 22nd amendment so Obama can remain. Never thought I'd see that.
There is noticeably a bundle to know about this. I assume you made certain nice points in features also.
