“The American people will never knowingly adopt Socialism. But under the name of ‘liberalism’ they will adopt every fragment of the Socialist program, until one day America will be a Socialist nation, without knowing how it happened.”

And Bill Says:

Posted by Reid

This is an exerpt from an article or transcript from a speech in which Bill Cosby lectures African-Americans about education and responsibility...

They're standing on the corner and they can't speak English. I can't even talk the way these people talk:

Why you ain't?

Where you is ?

Where he stay?

Where he work?

Who you be?....

I blamed the kid until I heard the mother talk. And then I heard the father talk. Everybody knows it's important to speak English except these knuckleheads. You can't be a doctor with that kind of crap coming out of your mouth. In fact, you will never get any kind of a job making a decent living. People marched and were hit in the face with rocks to get an education, and now we've gotthese knuckleheads walking around. The lower economic people aren't holding up their end of this deal. These people are not parenting. They are buying things for kids. $500 sneakers; for what?? And they won't spend $200 for Hooked on Phonics.

I am talking about these peole who gry when their child is standing there in an orange jumpsuit.

Where were you when that child was 2?

Where were you at 12? Where were you at 18, and how is it that you didn't know he/she had a pistol? Where is the father? Or, who is the father?

People puting their clothes on backward is a sign that something has gone wrong. People with their hats on backward, pants down around their crack, isn't that an indication of something gone wrong? Or are you waiting for Jesus to pull his pants up? Isn't it a sign of something when a girl has her dress all he way up and she has all types of needles (piercings) going throug her body? What part of Africa did all of this come from? We are not Africans. Those people are not Africans: they don't know a thing about Africa. With names like Shaniqua, Taliqua, and Mohammed and all of that crap, and all of them are in jail- what is up?

Brown (or black) versus the Board of Education is no longer a white person's problem. We have got to take the neighborhood back. People used to be ashamed. Today a woman has 8 children with8 different "husbands"- or men, whatever you call them now. We have millionaire football players who cannot read. We have millionaire basketball players with graffitti all over their bodies, and they can't write 2 paragraphs. We as black folks have to do a better job! We have to start holding each other to a higher standard. We cannot blame the white people any longer. It is not about color, it's about behavior!!

----Dr. William Henry "Bill" Cosby, Jr. Ed.D.

Way to go Bill! Nice blog on our society and how it is being destroyed from within. This piece is printed so that we all can see a potential epidemic brewing and can try to nip it now. These same issues have taken root in the other ethnic communties as well as in white areas as well. Wake up people, it is time to to grab the bull by the horns and stop our decay. Reid

Bill Cosby actually said something useful for once.

I think if you'll check, over the last 5-10 years or so, Coz has been the lone voice of reason and alarm in entertainment, toward the self-destructive black community. They resent him because he cautions them against dependence, sloth, and excuse-making. He encourages them toward self-reliance, responsibility, and education.

I guess that shows how screwed up society is nowadays, i grew up in a time where that slacking culture was at a maximum, and people like Bill Cosby are the anti-slacking people. I am ashamed of my generation.

It is an absolute travesty that Americans, regardless of race, color, etc. have allowed this country, OUR COUNTRY, to be dummed down. As long as we sit idly by and are content to watch the wprld rot around us, then it will. I am willing to step up and try to stop this merry-go-round where I live. Maybe if each of us does something, then something will actually get done. I have just downloaded this note and have forwarded it to the school board in my town, the city government, and to my state reps and senators. I hope they read it along with the note attached and start doing something about it as well. We need to be Hooked on making America better - every day, 1 dy at a time. It sounds trite, but it is so true. All it takes is someoine to start a conversation with somebody else. I am doing it and all the TRR readers will as well. We don't need to be ashamed, we ned to take action to resist the slide.

Irony, meet joe Camel. Indeed America has been dumbed down.

Incidentally through the evolution of the English laguage we no longer pronounce the b in dumb. Perhaps becuase a b following an m is so clumsy. Regardless, this is a perfect example of language change over time. How does language change? Well the simple answer is that enough people mispronounce a word enough over time, their mispronunciation becomes the correct one.

It can be considered slang, or a more correct term would be dialect. Take the difference in Northern and Southern pronunciations of words. Almost no words are pronounced the same across America. Also you can make the point that Joe Camel simply had a typo, in that he forgot a simple i to make dummed into dummied. Either way you make a good point about how language evolution is real, and is direct evidence of people who are lazy enough to not even take the time to speak correctly.

Glad you caught that there anonymous. I wasn't sure if it would slide by. My attempt at grammar humor flew right over your head. Sorry I have been out of pocket and couldn't respond sooner. I find it interesting that a seemingly intelligent person, such as yourself, would jump on the minutae and disregard the main point. Although I do recall that on another argument, it was you and Ed that got into a debate on spelling and again missed the point. Maybe you cant get past that hangup of an occasional pun or an occasional error/typo. Regardless I accept the correction and will note all intended typing errors in the future. Otherwise, please help me to punctuate and to spell better.
