“The American people will never knowingly adopt Socialism. But under the name of ‘liberalism’ they will adopt every fragment of the Socialist program, until one day America will be a Socialist nation, without knowing how it happened.”
Socialist Party presidential candidate Norman Thomas

Boehner bravely calls democrats' bluff
Last week 100 disgruntled democrats made a big show of signing a letter demanding that Speaker John Boehner allow a "clean vote" on raising the US debt ceiling. They didn't want a bunch of unpleasant budget-cut promises to get in the way of mortgaging the country away to China. All along the republicans have said they would raise the debt ceiling only if there were concomitant budget cuts to go with it.
Well, imagine democrats' surprise when Boehner announced today that he would allow a "clean vote" on just that, later tonight? Agape democrats are accusing Boehner of insincerity and can't find ways to back out of the vote fast enough. You see, even craven democrats know that a vote to raise the debt ceiling without dramatic cuts, is a political loser. Plus, any increase in the ceiling will only pay for what Obama's already promised to spend so democrats don't get any additional spending out of it.
Nothing's funnier than seeing phony, posturing democrats get their collective bluff called and watching them scramble for cover like cock-roaches.
Heartache......Romney favors ethanol subsidies
Nothing strikes me as dumber than putting our food into our gas tanks at a greater cost than the gas we already have, yet Mitt Romney thinks it's a good idea.....
“I support the subsidy of ethanol,” he told an Iowa voter. “I believe ethanol is an important part of our energy solution for this country.” Iowa leads the nation in the production of corn, a main source of ethanol.
You have to waste something like 10 gallons of water to make 1 gallon of ethanol. And the price of corn has gone through the roof because the government is buying up all the corn for stupid ethanol to combat imaginary global warming.
If ethanol was a competitive fuel on the market place, then great. But it's not. The government(taxpayers) must subsidize it to make it competitive. Left on it's own, it would fail utterly and completely as a fuel source.
That politicians like Romney think that any means(manipulation of economic markets) is justified to achieve their goals is disheartening at best, and horrifying at worst. Unless Romney changes his position on stupid ethanol subsidies and allows the fuel and corn markets to do what they do naturally, he'll likely not get a vote of mine because if he'll support subsidies for this, then what other violations of markets will he support? Bailouts? Single-payer health care? Illegal-alien labor?
He's too iffy for me.
Mayhem at Black Bike Week
Who didn't see this coming?
It was Black Bike Week in Myrtle Beach, S.C. over Memorial Day, and a major crime wave there swamped the MBPolice Dept. Coincidence?
There were armed muggings, vandalism, and drug busts, which describe an average Tuesday night at Charlie Sheen's house, but at Myrtle Beach?
Apparently in an attempt to mitigate the damage, some hotels and restaurants actually close because the cost of damage repair is too great. It's cheaper to close for two days. I know what you're thinking, "But Ed, the same thing happens during Spring Break every year and those are white kids."
Sorry, not buying it. Nobody closes their doors during Spring Break. And these aren't kids. These are grown adult men. Plus they aren't the leisure bikers and GoldWing club members. These are crotch-rocket riders who think they're in a Fast-Furious movie. I would expect a Hell's Angels convention to be just as bad. It's not a black thing, it's a violent biker thing.

G8 promises billions for Arab Spring
At the G8 summit, leaders approved as much as $20billion in aid to Arab nations trying to build democracies, but is that money well spent?
FoxNews -- While America's standing in the Middle East couldn't get much lower, you wouldn't know it looking at the U.S. foreign aid budget. Of proposed U.S. assistance for 2012, almost two-thirds is earmarked for Muslim nations and one-third goes to Arab countries.
Yet, despite those billions in aid, opinion polls show most Arab citizens still have an unfavorable view of America and most Muslim nations routinely vote against U.S. interests in the United Nations.
Why do we assume that these Arab nations want to be liberated by the US? The "Arab Spring", as freedom-minded Arab youths are collectively called, detests the US for the most part. They'll be happy to laugh at our gullibility while they take our money, but it clearly isn't translating into any good will among Arab states. The US is broke. We cannot afford to be forking hundreds of millions over to hostile Arab nations.
Sen Roy Blunt(R-Mo) was against big government before he was for it
Hypocrite Roy Blount gives speeches against big government spending, but when his state is in need, he's all for it....
From CBS-ST. LOUIS -- ST. LOUIS (KMOX) - Missouri Senator Roy Blunt says he’s asking the federal government to reimburse 100 percent of the cost to local governments dealing with the Joplin tornado aftermath.
Isn't this what insurance is for? Why should taxpayers in other states be on the hook for 100% of Missouri's losses? Emergency aid and relief in these situations is great and I don't mind the feds providing that, but 100% reimbursement? Is Roy Blount aware that the federal government is broke? In a sane world, tornado insurance in Missouri would go up so that losses could be covered when this happens again.
US taxpayers shouldn't be paying for this any more than we should pay for hurricane damage in Gulf states, fire and mudslide losses in California, or flood damage around the Mississippi. If hypocritical politicians want to place all taxpayers on the hook for the predictable losses of a few, then perhaps they should spend federal dollars a little more wisely so there will be some for emergencies. Start by deleting from the budget, foreign aid to hostile Muslim countries. Or better yet, shouldn't Missouri have saved up some money for tornado season?
Bob Woodall thinks his health care is provided for free
GOP congress-critter Bob Woodall explains in a townhall meeting with constituents why he uses the lavish healthcare bonus he gets because he's in congress.....
I don't know this guy. Perhaps you Georgia people can familiarize the rest of us with him, but to float the idea that his health care is free because it's free to him, might be the biggest mistake I've heard a republican make. He's not forced to use the congressional cadillac plan with which representatives shamelessly pamper themselves. The health care that he and his family enjoy is paid for the same way as his salary....he takes money from taxpayers to fund it.

The argument for a national flat tax
From Dan Mitchell over at International Liberty, have a look at this graphic representation of the absurd complexity of the ever expanding US tax code.....
Despicably corrupt politicians use the labyrinthine complexity of the tax code to reward favored interest groups and punish political adversaries, as well as a bludgeon to compel Americans to bend to their will in terms of our economic behavior. It is high time politicians give up the power they wield over our lives by simplifying the tax code so that everybody can understand it and so that everybody pays their fair share and nobody has loopholes through which they cheat other taxpayers. A flat tax would accomplish this. It works famously well in other countries. It would work here too. Here's a short video explaining the merits of a national flat income tax....

Uh oh
Well this doesn't bode well for the liklihood of deposing Obama in 2012....
From MSNBC -- In a special House election carefully watched by national political strategists, Democrat Kathy Hochul won what had been a Republican seat Tuesday in upstate New York, lifting Democrats’ hopes for the 2012 campaign.
As her campaign’s centerpiece, Hochul attacked changes in the Medicare program proposed by House Budget Committee chairman Paul Ryan.
The smear campaign against Ryan's budget proposal has already begun with an ad that shows a republican literally pushing grandma out of her wheelchair and off a cliff. If NY-26 is any indicator, republicans have an uphill battle to get seniors to not buy the tried-and-true, Medicare scare tactics employed by the democrats and the media heading into election season.
The problem America faces now is that everybody agrees that the federal budget must be slashed if we are to even think about approaching solvency and avoid defaulting on our national debt, but nobody wants programs that are important to them to get altered in any way. That craven democrats use this fear to convince less than intelligent voters to side with them is beyond reprehensible and dishonest. But then, to call a liberal reprehensible and dishonest is to repeat myself.

Obama, clueless about what year it is
This is how Obama signed the Westminster Abbey guest book this morning. After attempting(badly) an Irish accent in Ireland yesterday, getting his limo stuck on the driveway hump, and now missing the date by three years, how much more embarrassing could this trip be? The list of missteps regarding our motherland is long. It started with Obama returning the bust of Winston Churchill....how insulting!. Then as a gift, he gave the queen an DVD with his own speeches recorded on it, forgetting that DVD's in the US are formatted differently in Europe....she couldn't watch them even if she wanted to....which I'm sure she didn't.
I'd also like to see an FBI handwriting profiler analyze Obama's signature. I'll bet the huge B and O indicate extreme narcissism.
Herman Cain enjoys bounce in Zogby
Despite the Washington media insiders' desire for a fellow insider to be the republican nominee for President, and perhaps because of it, Herman Cain passed Chris Christie in Zogby polling yesterday. Cain has 19%, Christie who's not running has 17%, and Romney the insider at 12%.
Now anything can happen in a long election season, but I think likely GOP voters don't appreciate the conservative elites like Charles Krauthammer telling them this early that a candidate is a joke. Why is Herman Cain a joke to CK? How is he any less qualified to be President than the shifty, empty-suited socialist that's there now?
I hope Herman Cain does well in the early states and gains some momentum. I'll be happy to cast a vote for him if he turns out to be the conservative that he appears to be.
Ray Lewis unwittingly punks his fellow NFL players
Accused murderer and Baltimore Ravens linebacker Ray Lewis had this amusingly ironic warning if the NFL cancelled it's season this Fall because of the lockout....
“Do this research. If we don’t have a season, watch how much evil, which we call it crime, watch how much crime picks up when you take away our game.”
It's as if NFL games represent societal safety valves, without which we descend rapidly into chaos and anarchy. That's so Orwellian sounding, like Two Minutes Hate from "1984". If America cannot stand without football, we deserve to collapse.
If there is no NFL season, idle players, not the fans, are far more likely to cause a minor national crime spree. 21% of NFL players have criminal records, far above the national average for men the same age.

The Kraut: "Herman Cain's candidacy is for entertainment purposes"
Here The Kraut (Charles Krauthammer) on the presidential candidacy of Herman Cain....
Just like conservative elitists George Will and Peggy Noonan, CK dismisses the chances of any newcomer to the national political stage, apparently because they haven't been immersed in the Washington social scene. For some reason they are more comfortable with known candidates with whom they've clinked glasses at cocktail parties rather than outsiders.
I think an outsider like Herman Cain or Chris Christie is precisely what we need, not a go-along, compromised republican like Gingrich or Romney.

Begun, the Constitutional crisis has
We're about to see just how adherent to the Constitution this administration is....
From FoxNation -- By Jake Tapper
From the beginning of the U.S. military intervention in Libya, the Obama administration has cited the 1973 War Powers Act as the legal basis of its ability to conduct military activities for 60 days without first seeking a declaration of war from Congress.
The military intervention started on March 19; Congress was notified on March 21.
Those 60 days expire tomorrow.
There is a 30-day Constitutional provision for withdrawal so the deadline for being out of Libya without congressional approval is still a month away, but the 60-day limit compels Obama to either ask congress for permission to stay or announce that we're getting out.
One thing to consider for Obama is that if he operates extra-Constitutionally regarding Libya, how can the US then expect other countries to obey their own Constitutions when crises happen? Short answer: we can't.
Obama sides with the Palestinian terrorists
President Obama sent a chill through Israel yesterday when he called for a "two-state solution" to the Palestinian problem. He called for a return to the pre-1967 borders by which Israel would have to give up the Golan Heights on the border with Syria and the West Bank which borders on Jordan. They've already handed the Gaza Strip over to the miserable Palestinians who promptly converted it from a thriving, productive region into a desert ghetto and launching pad for violence against Israeli civilians.
The details are disputed, but in 1967 Israel launched a preemptive attack on Syria, Jordan, and Egypt, capturing the territories above as well as the Sinai Peninsula. This effectively displaced 300,000 Palestinians and that, not to mention the very existence of Israel itself, is the source of the hostilities today. Arab countries in the middle east, the UN, and liberals in America have no love for the Palestinians, but they are a handy club with which to pummel the "Zionist state".
The silly land-for-peace agreements have never solved anything, and they never will. The Palestinians and other middle east countries will never be happy with the existence of Israel, so no amount of land concessions by Israel will result in peace....period.
Obama knows this but as a liberal and Muslim sympathizer, he reflexively sides with Palestinians against Israel, mostly because Israel is supported by the US. Obama was raised to detest what he views as the US's colonial influence around the world. I think this explains his demand that Israel cede all that land to the Palestinians. He wants badly to diminish America's influence around the world because he sees the US as bad.
Netanyahu should just sit tight and procrastinate until Obama is out of office, hopefully in two years. Giving up all that land won't solve anything. It'll just encourage the Palestinians to demand still more.

FEMA becomes an enforcement agency
Under Obama, FEMA is more like the IRS than a relief agency. 403 Tennesseans have been told to repay $1.6 million in flood relief money. FEMA's idiotic reasoning is that these people used insurance money so they don't qualify for FEMA money. But hardly any insurance companies offer flood insurance in these areas that get flooded. It's more likely to be the case that these people had long-time policies that allowed them to cash out some of the money if disaster struck, even if the policy didn't cover it specifically. It's not double-dipping as FEMA contends, but rather supplemental or complementary funding of relief.
I wonder if there's some political motivation behind this. Otherwise it doesn't make sense. These people aren't ripping off the taxpayers. Look at the hundreds of thousands of people ripping off Welfare, Food-Stamps, Medicare, Medicaid, school lunches, etc....they ignore that but go after people who've demonstrated actual need?
Our tax money pays for Stanley Thornton's fantasy life
This is "adult baby" Stanley Thornton and his pretend "mother" Sandra Diaz. Both receive disability checks from taxpayers to live this fantasy life of mother and baby. Not so fast Stan. Sen Tom Coburn (R-Ok) saw the episode of Taboo on which the pair were featured and called the SSAdmin. to point out the absurdity of them living off the public dole. Predictably, Thornton reacted as all mooching parasites react when their gravy train is threatened....negatively.....
From WashingtonTimes -- Mr. Thornton threatened to kill himself if his Social Security payments are taken away….
"You wanna test how damn serious I am about leaving this world, screw with my check that pays for this apartment and food. Try it. See how serious I am. I don't care," the California man said. "I have no problem killing myself. Take away the last thing keeping me here, and see what happens. Next time you see me on the news, it will be me in a body bag."
We can only hope he makes good on that threat.
30 year old Thornton wallowing around in his own feces-filled diaper, staring at Lego toys all day, and generally depending on others for his every need is an appropriate, cautionary metaphor for the sad, welfare state that the US is turning into with liberals in charge. If liberals had their way, we'd all be Stanley Thorntons and the part of Sandra Diaz would be played by the government.
There are no vast government conspiracies
This is the reason why I never believe vast, government conspiracies. Even our spies can't keep secrets....
From (CNN) -- CIA Director Leon Panetta, concerned by leaks about the raid that killed Osama bin Laden, sent a letter to CIA employees on Wednesday warning them to protect classified information.
Since the al Qaeda leader was killed May 1 in a U.S. special operations forces raid on a compound in Pakistan, numerous details about the raid and materials confiscated at bin Laden's home have been leaked to the media.
It's human nature....the bigger the secret, the more desperate you are to tell somebody about it. Without revealing secrets, nobody can be impressed with your access to information that you shouldn't have. Does anybody think a Marilyn Monroe assassination, Area-51 aliens, 9/11 inside job, or phony moon landing conspiracies could be kept secret when it would take scores, if not hundreds, of people to pull them off and then keep quiet about it for the rest of their lives? It simply defies logic.

The American obsession with infidelity.....someone elses
Here we go again. As the world burns, the American economy crumbles underneath us, and US soldiers die in foreign lands for no apparent good reason, our President golfs and our attention is riveted by the dalliances of a Hollywood turd who everybody knew was a turd.
Why do we love to stand safely on the sideline and revel in the mistakes of others? And the despicable media gladly provide us with up-to-the-minute updates on each and every mistake by prying into the private lives of anybody who they think might be hiding something from them, as if they, and by extension we, are entitled to that information.
I am by no means defending Arnold, but unless it can be shown that he compromised his office by having affairs in his physical Sacramento office, the guy is not the governor anymore so why should we care? I had the same standard for Bill Clinton. Had he not "done" Monica actually in the Oval Office during work hours, rather met her in a seedy motel off the interstate like everybody else, I wouldn't have cared.
Surely there are more important things going on than digging up dirt on a private, but famous citizen. I'm sick of the Jerry Springer media playing gotcha with peoples' lives as if it's their right and our business.

Americans don't have the stupid-market cornered just yet
Apparently the nationality of morons who give their brats outrageously stupid names isn't limited to American....
From NYDailyNews -- An Israeli couple likes Facebook so much that they named their newborn daughter "Like." You know as in the like icon on the popular Palo Alto-based social-networking site.
They have two other kids whose respective names are the Hebrew words for "honey" and "pie". These kids don't stand a chance with parents this stupid.
Another infuriating light-bulb blog post
In what to me is perhaps the most egregious violation of the American people on behalf of stupid polar bears is the coming government ban on cheap, reliable, and bright incandescent light bulbs, in favor of expensive, flickering, and dangerous compact fluorescent bulbs. It's no secret or coincidence that GE stands to profit greatly from the idiotic ban and that CEO Jeffery Immelt is Obama's best corporate friend. But there are other companies which are looking to profit from our absurd willingness to destroy an entire industry on behalf of an imaginary weather phenomenon....
From Yahoo.com -- NEW YORK – Two leading makers of lighting products are showcasing LED bulbs that are bright enough to replace energy-guzzling 100-watt light bulbs set to disappear from stores in January.
Their demonstrations at the LightFair trade show in Philadelphia this week mean that brighter LED bulbs will likely go on sale next year, but after a government ban takes effect.
The new bulbs will also be expensive — about $50 each — so the development may not prevent consumers from hoarding traditional bulbs.
Yeah, once our cheap incandescents are banned, predatory companies who make stupid compact fluorescent and LED's will jack their prices way up because we won't have any alternatives for how to light our homes and work places. How is this consistent in any way with the fundamental concepts of capitalism and the free market?
I swear, if you still don't think Obama is intentionally harming this country every way he can, you should be institutionalized, smothered with your own pillow, and forgotten.

The astounding arrogance of Obama
This is Obama aide Daniel Gordon explaining why the administration needs secrecy when it comes to transparency....
This dupe won't answer a single question straight, especially when it comes to campaign finance. I think what's going on is that Obama is sending a message to potential corporate partners that if they want to do business with the second Obama administration, they'd better pony up the campaign loot now and keep quiet about it.
How can Obama's errand boy claim with a straight face that it's not absurd to demand secrecy when discussing transparency? Answer: because the media won't report it and will vigorously defend the administration from any harm from exposure of his hypocrisy.

The day of reckoning is near
We hit the debt ceiling today. What's congress going to do about it?
From WSJ.online -- The U.S. government is expected to hit the $14.294 trillion debt ceiling Monday, setting in motion an uncertain, 11-week political scramble to avoid a default.
The Treasury Department plans to announce Monday it will stop issuing and reinvesting government securities in certain government pension plans, part of a series of steps designed to delay a default until Aug. 2.
The Treasury's moves buy time for the White House and congressional leaders to reach a deficit-reduction agreement that could clear the way for enough lawmakers to vote to raise the amount of money Congress allows the nation to borrow.
President Obama and speaker Boehner are playing a dangerous game of chicken here. I have a feeling Boehner will blink first. The media and all Americans receiving handouts will blame the republicans no matter what causes a default. Obama knows this and it'll give him the backbone to stand his ground.
If it comes to republicans caving in to Obama and voting to raise the debt ceiling in exchange for winking democrats' promises to dramatically cut spending, then any republican who voted to raise it should be kicked out of office in 2012. I don't care if it's their first or tenth term, if they vote to increase debt without concrete, ironclad spending cuts, they don't deserve the seats they hold, and we'll find somebody who does. Besides, I think Obama is going to win in 2012 anyway so we may as well have a pure group of conservatives with whom to do battle.

I caught a fish thiiiss biiiigg! *holds hands far apart*
Telling fish tales is a tradition dating back to at least the early pre-Cambrian period. In Texas however, you'd better not get caught lying about the size of your catch if you're in a tournament....
From NYTimes -- A bill that would make it a misdemeanor — and in some cases a felony — to misrepresent the size, weight or provenance of a fish in a fishing tournament arrived on Gov. Rick Perry’s desk on Wednesday, after passing the State Senate in a unanimous vote on Monday.
Do we really need a state-wide law banning lying about your fish in tournaments? Don't they measure and weigh the fish you catch? And aren't there already tournament rules about cheating? Why do we need a law?
What'll Texas do next, pass a law to discourage peeking during hide-and-seek? If you get caught, you lose automatically....everybody knows that. But I guess the Texas legislature has solved all that states' other problems, which is the only explanation for wasting time on this.

The intelligence of the SEC athlete
We in the SEC cringe every time a football player is interviewed on TV because it becomes undeniably obvious that our football players are there for one reason, to win games, not to attend classes....clearly they rarely have in their lives. Witness Florida's former RB Mike Blakely on why he chose to transfer to a JUCO school and then try to get back in the SEC the following year....
From SaturdayDownSouth -- "It’s hot. I’m from Bradenton, but at least we get a breeze there, you know? This feels like you’re living in Satan’s crotchpit, and it’s only May. Also, I can’t stand live oaks. They’re the homeless man of trees. Just look at ‘em. All raggedy and shit. WE OUT."
"Live Oaks are the homeless man of trees"? I could go all year and not hear a pearl like that. I laughed out loud, but it was at Blakely not with him. Kind of the way you laugh at Beavis and Butthead...it's not that they're all that funny, it's that they're that stupid.
SEC teams should keep their players sequestered from the media so we can maintain the thin charade that our football players are on scholarship for any reason beside playing football. Jeez!

Bailout II
With close friends of Obama running Fannie and Freddie, who didn't see MOAB II coming?
From ABCMoney -- WASHINGTON (Reuters) – Mortgage finance giant Fannie Mae (FNMA.OB) on Friday said it would ask for an additional $8.5 billion from taxpayers as it continues to suffer losses on loans made prior to 2009.
The largest U.S. residential mortgage funds provider reported a net loss attributable to common shareholders of $8.7 billion, or $1.52 per diluted share, in the first quarter.
Including the latest request, the firm has taken about $100 billion from the U.S. government since it was seized in 2008.
Can somebody show me in the Constitution where the federal government has any business at all meddling in the private mortgage industry? And don't try to float the "promote the general welfare" balloon. You dumb liberals hide behind that clause as an excuse for every thing you do that is extra-Constitutional.
Even as both companies were collapsing, Barney Frank and Chris Dodd were defending them as on solid financial ground...and both were the biggest recipients of bags of cash from them. Coincidence? And why do you cretins in Mass. keep electing Frank? How stupid are you people?
Frank and Dodd should be in prison.
Pakistan's intentions reveal the nature of our relationship
So the $3billion we spend to buy Pakistan's friendship isn't working out so well....
From Hotair -- The U.S. has already asked the Pakistanis for the helicopter wreckage back, but one Pakistani official told ABC News the Chinese were also “very interested” in seeing the remains. Another official said, “We might let them [the Chinese] take a look.”
$3B to be our friend and they're giving our secrets to our enemies? Whether or not there's anything of value in that wreckage, and it looks like there may not be, that they are showing it to the Chinese demonstrates that our money isn't buying anything. We're just flushing money taken by force from taxpayers, down the Pakistan drain.
Stopping all aid to Pakistan becomes a big election issue in 3....2.....1.....

If Islamic terrorism were a snake.......
This is why terror has taken hold in the every-day lives of ordinary Americans. We, and by we I mean liberals and the disturbingly PC bureaucrats in government, continue to refuse to name our enemy and take actions to stop him for fear of hurting some body's feelings.....
From FreeRepublic -- Federal agents are investigating the background of a California man with a Yemeni passport who pounded on the cockpit door of an American Airlines flight as it approached San Francisco before a flight attendant tackled him, police said Monday.
Rageh Almurisi, 28, does not have any clear or known ties to terrorism, and investigators have not established a possible motive, San Francisco police Sgt. Michael Rodriguez said.
"have not established a motive"? All the passengers on the flight reported that they were afraid for their lives when this nut yelled "Alluha Akbar" as he pounded on the cockpit doors. I would suggest that they consider Islamic terrorism as a possible motive.....idiots!

My twice-a-year animal-cruelty soapbox
I've said it before and I'll say it again, if you take your unappreciative rug-rat to the circus, most zoos, or pay for movies like Water for Elephants in which intelligent animals are forced to perform stupid tricks for human entertainment, then you are complicit in abuse and torture because apparently that's how they're trained and handled when no body's looking.....
From Dailymail -- In the secret footage, released by charity Animal Defenders International (ADI), the elephant is seen being given electric shocks with hand-held stun guns and being beaten with bull hooks.
If you are stupid enough to believe that this isn't how virtually all performing animals are trained and handled, then it will give me great pleasure when, in front of your caterwauling brat whose face is sticky with cotton-candy and snot, a fed up elephant tramples you at the circus, you get mauled by a lion at the zoo, or a monkey sinks his teeth into your leg.
Go to the link above and watch the videos or simply search "elephant cruelty" on Youtube, and see if you really want to support the circus, bad zoos, or animal movies again.

Pakistan's PM gives press conference with a laugh track
Pakistan's Prime Minister Yusuf Raza Gilani apparently decided to go into comedy since the whole "prime minister" gig wasn't working out....
From FoxNews -- Pakistan's prime minister warned the United States Monday that his country could respond to any future U.S. raids on its soil with "full force," in the latest escalation of rhetoric in the wake of Usama bin Laden's death.
"Pakistan reserves the right to retaliate with full force. No one should underestimate the resolve and capability of our nation and armed forces to defend our sacred homeland," Gilani said.
Heh heh, compared to the US military, Pakistan couldn't fight it's way out of a wet paper bag. But I guess the PM had to put on a tough facade since his countrymen are humiliated and embarrassed that the world's #1 wanted man lived in squalor under their noses for 6 years. Moreover, that the US military came to within 45 miles of Islamabad and nobody sounded an alarm, put on display the lameness and utter incompetence of that country's military services.
He can threaten all he wants, but if we hear of Pakistan harboring any more terrorists who we'd ike to see dead, I'm sure SEAL-6 would be happy to violate Pakistan's sovereignty again.
A terrorist around every corner
With the killing of Usama Bin Laden and the revelation that Al Qaeda had many targets in the US, citizens are freaking out with fear of an attack. Isn't this the precise purpose of terrorism? It's not to destroy, it's to get the victims to destroy themselves with paralyzing fear. Isn't that what we're doing?
Chuck "the schmuck" Shumer proposed a "no ride" list for commuter trains, all because there may have been a train targeted by Al Qaeda. Every day, the list of items not allowed on planes and trains gets longer and longer. And every day the physical violation of passengers at the hands of TSA goons gets more intrusive.
If we let the terrorists control how we live our lives to this extent, haven't they already won? It bears pointing out that our current administration's reluctance to assign blame to, or even exact punishment on, Muslims for the mere threat of violence creates fear among citizens who aren't confident our government is doing everything to protect them. Still, crippling our way of life out of fear doesn't feel very American to me.
We should stop being defensive and expecting a terrorist around every corner and instead, go on the offensive and start killing all known terrorists around the world. Put them on the defensive. Drive them into hiding where they don't have time to plan attacks. And let the rest of the politically correct world weep for what eternity holds for these soulless devils.

Let the Bin Laden jokes begin
The bright dude who put this on a T-shirt has made $21,000 already in just two days of selling. There are those who would say it's callous and uncivilized to celebrate death with casual mockery. To them I would say......shut up and get over yourself!
Bin Laden was on facebook
Apparently this dish on Bin Laden's house wasn't just for access to Sunday-NFL package and downloading Islamic ankle porn, he was also hooked into facebook. This is his last entry.....
Pakistan surprisingly unhappy about our execution of Bin Laden
Pakistan to United States: "How's about you stop violating our national sovereignty"?
United States to Pakistan: "How's about shutting the hell up? Here's another drone strike for ya."
From YahooNews -- MIRANSHAH, Pakistan (AFP) – US drones fired a salvo of missiles into a compound in Pakistan's tribal district of North Waziristan on Friday, killing eight suspected militants including Al-Qaeda members, officials said.
Given 9/11, I think the US reserves the right to go into any, ANY country and execute, murder, assassinate, whatever you want to call it, the man responsible for it. You don't get to take billions in financial aid and then harbor the #1 terrorist in the world who is responsible for over 3000 civilian, US deaths. And until we're happy that there are no more terrorists running around, we'll go into any country we like and kill whom ever we feel like killing. That's right, I said it.

No popularity bump for Obama after Bin Laden
Pundits and assorted presidential observers were expecting an approval bump for Obama following the successful hit carried out by SEAL-6 on Osama Bin Laden, and rightfully so. Any President who green-lights a successful kill mission on America's #1 enemy deserves a bump. But Obama isn't enjoying much of one...why not?
My guess is first, the economy is still in a tailspin as gas prices continue to rise and the future is indeed bleak. And two, the stupid, Islamically-consistent burial-at-sea of Bin Laden on which the Navy spent 40 minutes, sort of quelled the good feelings toward Obama. People are asking why did Bin Laden deserve that? Why are we bending over backwards not to anger crazed Muslims who're already angry? Are we worried about angering moderate Muslims by not giving public enemy #1 a proper burial?
I don't think having the Navy do that garnered any good will from any Muslims, anywhere. Regarding Bin Liden's demise, Muslims are either glad, pissed, or indifferent. I don't think the funeral ceremony changed anything one way or the other.
President lallygagger
Over at Ace of Spades HQ via Linkiest, there's a piece about how the fawning media is praising Obama for what amounts to doing his job on the Osama bin Laden hit. Well worth the read. Here's an excerpt.....
So why should I praise Obama for a choice that every single one of his predecessors and every plausible successor would also make?
The media and the toadies in the administration are trying to paint a picture of "office heroics" on the part of the President, when all he did was give the green light after dawdling and lallygagging for almost a full day. He did the right thing, but he's not a hero for doing it.

Michael Moore gets one right for a change
Michael Moore is a disgusting, repulsive, bloated, commie pig, but he's sort of right about one thing. This is what he tweeted after bin Laden's death was announced...
"He may be dead, but in a way, he won. We gave up our rights. We passed a PatriotAct. We spent trillions on needless wars. Fear now rules us."
I can't say that I wholeheartedly disagree with any of that. The point of terrorism is to make you terrified and change the way you live your lives in response to it. We(Americans) have done precisely that....in spades!
No liquid over 3oz on airplanes. Gel bras, nail clippers, and printer cartridges banned. Humiliating molestations by TSA screeners at airports. Stupid shoe checks. The Patriot Act that allows intrusions that we would never have allowed before 9/11. The list of absurd ways in which we've changed how we live our lives, the money we've diverted away from other things in the name of security, and the offenses we tolerate from our government overseers show that bin Laden's mission to terrify us.....did actually terrify us. Rather than attack the enemy, we recoil from confrontation, play defensive games at the airports, and hope they don't attack us again. I'm embarrassed at what we've become in the face of threats, real and implied, by a loose-knit cabal of cackling, dirty, third-world nomads....EMBARRASSED!
Bust a deal, face the wheel
The US might not pay up on the reward promised for information leading to the capture, arrest, or proof of death of Osama bin Laden....
From NPR.org -- Under a special program started by Congress back in 1984, the U.S. government has paid $100 million to dozens of people who helped bring international terrorists to justice. But the reward for the most notorious terrorist of all — Osama bin Laden — could go unclaimed.
Even if there isn't one person who deserves the $27million reward, why not donate it to the SEAL Team-6 program? It might go a long way toward paying for that chopper that went down. Or it might fund a raid to get Ayman al-Zawahiri, the putative Al Qaeda #1 now that bin Laden as assumed the temperature of sea water. Either way, the US shouldn't shirk on it's promise.
*Bonus points to the first reader who can, without cheating, name the source of the title of this post. [Note:anybody who can't get this should be embarrassed to be a dude. Girls get a pass.]

The terrible cost of Afghanistan
POSTED BY BILL
The "trend" of our Afghan allies gunning our guys down in cold blood is a huge problem. I wish Karzai would get as exercised over it as he does over accidental - or fabricated - deaths of civilians in combat ops.
The most recent atrocity was widely reported as "Soldiers." In fact they were eight Airmen (plus a contractor) who paid the price for serving our country and trusting the murderer. They were not just random Airmen, but accomplished officers and a senior NCO. God Speed.

Chris Matthews is an embarrassing idiot
Over at Redstate, I found the embed code for this montage of Chris Matthews contradicting himself in the span of 10 minutes, just so he can label as racists, anybody who questions Obama's grade-worthiness to attend Harvard....
It's OK to question Bush's grade-worthiness but you're a racist to question Obama's? These unhinged media types like Matthews have become parodies of themselves and they don't even know it.

Voyagers 1 and 2 reach the edge of the solar system
To me, the Voyager program symbolizes the greatest of human accomplishments....
Designed to last just 5 years, both craft are still going strong after 30 years and have reached the edge of our solar system. That men successfully engineered such complex machines and from them, have learned about our universe, things we would never have known, is a testament to the natural yearning of humans to explore, learn, and expand our boundaries.

Bin Laden surprised to find himself in hell
"We will not tire. We will not falter. We will not fail." Those were the words uttered by George Bush atop the rubble pile that used to be the Twin Towers, referring to hunting down the people responsible for 9/11. It is a testament to our form of government that two administrations, polar opposites politically, can pursue the same goal over the course of ten years and accomplish it.
And like it or not, that Obama pulled the trigger on this operation and that it turned out so spectacularly successful, is a huge feather in his cap and he deserves credit. I realize that it was the CIA and SEALs that executed it, but if anything had gone wrong or we had failed, it would have been Obama that got the blame, same as Jimmy Carter got the blame for the failed hostage rescue attempt in Iran. He signed off on it, so he gets to take the credit.
This also sends a message to our enemies. If you harm our civilians, we will hunt you down. Maybe not tomorrow or next week, but we will find and kill you.
So I tip my hat to Obama for green-lighting this operation and killing the man responsible for 9/11.
