Here's another example of your tax dollars being spent to rescue stupid Americans from themselves...
NEW ORLEANS — A federal plan to buy thousands of flood-prone homes on Mississippi's hurricane-battered coast is shaping up to be far more modest than many residents had feared. In September, the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers stunned a gathering of homeowners in Bay St. Louis, Miss., by announcing that up to 17,000 properties could be bought and converted into wetlands or other public uses as part of an ambitious coastal protection program.
Why should my tax dollars be spent to buy the home of somebody who was too dumb not to build on a flood plane? Isn't that what insurance policies are for? If the government wants to extablish a protected wetland or somehthing, then don't allow any new construction, and the next time there's a flood, all the houses will be gone and they won't have used my money to accomplish it.
This is typical liberal mentality that assumes that people aren't capable of taking care of themselves, and government must be a nanny to us all.
