Newton, Conn. memorial service too "religiously correct" for me
So I tried to watch that awful memorial service yesterday at the Newtown HS at which it seemed, a representative of every denomination in town was given the opportunity to give what was to me generalized platitudes in dry, pre-written clergy-speak. Bizarrely, the only one who actually seemed to speak from his heart was the local Muslim Imam who wept as he quoted the Koran.
Was anybody comforted or moved by this nonsensical display of religious correctness, clearly staged for media consumption because of Obama's presence? I know these guys were trying to appear somber and serious, but it came off to me as rote and unfeeling.
