“The American people will never knowingly adopt Socialism. But under the name of ‘liberalism’ they will adopt every fragment of the Socialist program, until one day America will be a Socialist nation, without knowing how it happened.”

Powerless Obama acts tough on Ukraine

President Obama laughably warned the Ukranian government not to use unnecessary force against its own people with this statement, eerily similar to his warning to Bashir al-assad of Syria, which was immediately followed by al-assad using Sarin gas on his people:

"[W]e’ll be monitoring very closely the situation, recognizing that with our European partners and the international community there will be consequences if people step over the line."

The Ukraine shares a huge border with Russia and the entire south-eastern half of the country is very pro-Russian and are mostly ethnic Russians. What's Obama, or any EU nation for that matter, going to do? The same thing we did in Syria? Look the other way and pretend the red-line hadn't been crossed? Send in drones to a nation that borders Russia? Send in peace-keeping troops to fight with Russian troops? How about sanctions? Russia won't let that have any effect on the Ukraine.

Obama is posturing for the media and little else. As far as the Ukraine unrest is concerned, the US is a powerless observer and that's exactly what we should be, Obama's ridiculous saber-rattling notwithstanding.

The events in Ukraine since November 2013 are so astonishing as almost to defy belief.

An legitimately-elected (said by all international monitors) Ukrainian President, Viktor Yanukovich, has been driven from office, forced to flee as a war criminal after more than three months of violent protest and terrorist killings by so-called opposition.

His “crime” according to protest leaders was that he rejected an EU offer of a vaguely-defined associate EU membership that offered little to Ukraine in favor of a concrete deal with Russia that gave immediate €15 billion debt relief and a huge reduction in Russian gas import prices. Washington at that point went into high gear and the result today is catastrophe.

Isaac, do you think that the main stream media are all sitting on this information? To what end?
