The subservient sycophants in the media will hail Obama as the budget slasher for this....
From FoxNews: In what amounts to a scene out of Hollywood's version of executive power, President Obama will convene his first Cabinet meeting this morning and order his department chiefs to immediately cut a combined $100 million from their budgets.
This is Rahm Emanuel's attempt to capture the magic of the movie "Dave" in which Kevin Kline as President convenes his cabinet and goes through their budgets line by line to cut spending. But 100million is 1/35,000th of the total budget. Symbolic yes but, does it really do anything substantive? If you make $100,000 a year, you could cut your budget by $3 and you'd be cutting a larger percentage from your spending.
How about abolishing the Depts. of Education, Energy, and Commerce for starters? Each is ridiculously unnecessary, if not counterproductive, and a bottomless, money abyss. That would be real budget slashing.
