“The American people will never knowingly adopt Socialism. But under the name of ‘liberalism’ they will adopt every fragment of the Socialist program, until one day America will be a Socialist nation, without knowing how it happened.”

Socialist Party presidential candidate Norman Thomas

Only whites can commit hate-crimes, and only minorites can be the victims

Am I the only one who sees the double standard when it comes to hate-crimes?

LEXINGTON, Ky. -- A University of Kentucky student and another man were arrested Thursday, accused of hanging a life-sized likeness of Barack Obama from a tree on the campus.
The incident was one of several in recent weeks involving effigies of the presidential candidates or their running mates. No charges have been filed in four other cases that have made national headlines.

If it's wrong to hang in effigy, The Obamessiah by a noose from a tree, it's wrong to do the same thing to a Sarah Palin figure. But the media, and apparently local cops, don't see it that way. Because of the historical significance of blacks and hanging, they wrongly reason, it's more wrong to pretend to hang a black than a white. In fact, that makes it a hate crime.

Why isn't it simply either, a hate crime to pretend to hang anybody, or not a crime at all for anybody, but free, political speech? When you define a crime against a minority as a hate crime, you are criminalizing thought. Why aren't black on white crimes considered hate crimes? Are whites the only people who can be hateful? Are blacks automatically absolved of the vice known as hate, just because they are a minority? It's the same argument as with the "N" word. If it's not OK for some people to use it, it's shouldn't be OK for anybody to use it. Liberals love to say that they are striving for a color-blind society, yet they are the first ones to point out race when it suits them. If we are indeed a colorblind society, and we should strive to be by every measure, then hate crimes shouldn't even exist. Hate crimes elevate the favored race(blacks) above the disfavored race(whites). No American should be elevated or favored by government over any other American on the basis if race.

Wetlands legislation promotes totalitarianism by eco-kooks

Dumb enviromentalist have forced through wet-lands legislation all over the country, ostensibly to protect spotted newts or snail darters or some other insignificant water creature the rest of us call bait, but at what cost to humans?

OLYMPIA — A developer says if he can't build a new grocery store in Olympia he'll build a sex emporium on the site.

The Centralia businessman, Levi Bussanich, says he's been working with city planners for more than a year, trying to build a store that would be operated by WinCo Foods. He says he's frustrated he hasn't been able to get a wetland buffer reduction.

I've never been in a sex emporium but, it sounds like something that would make granola-munching, beta-male environmentalists cringe even more than an evil grocery store. I get protecting swamps, bogs, lakes, ponds, buffer marshes and the creatures that live there, but this whole wetlands nonsense was written so that even a puddle of water in my yard can be defined as a wetland, and it's use therefor, can be controlled by mindless, sweaty bureaucrats. And that's really the whole agenda behind modern environmentalism: to limit as much as possible capitalist development and generally control everybody through their property.

Regardless of the benefit of development like a grocery store to local residents, environmentalists will always, always choose animals over humans and oppose development of any kind as an affrontery to nature.

So be careful about watering your lawn, some eco-stooge might declare your property a wetland.

It's Ann Coulter Thursday!

This week, Ann ridicules democrat stooge Keith Olberman and other race-obsessed, liberal tools for their hysterical insistence that America is a racist country and republicans are racist haters based solely on the lie that somebody shouted "kill him" referring to Obama, at a Palin rally. But the same shrill, leftist idiots said nothing when Duke lacrosse players almost had their lives ruined by a race-based lie. Pointed and direct as always, Ann puts liberals in their rightful places as purile hypocrites. Go on over to HumanEvents and read the article....then wonder why somebody hasn't shouted "kill him" regarding Keith Olberman.

My wife sent this to me and I thought it was funny....and by funny I mean dead on correct.

A man died and went to heaven. As he stood in front of St. Peter at the
Pearly Gates, he saw a huge wall of clocks behind him.

He asked, 'What are all those clocks?'

St. Peter answered, 'Those are Lie-Clocks. Everyone on Earth has a

Every time you lie the hands on your clock will move.'

'Oh,' said the man, 'whose clock is that?'

'That's Mother Teresa's. The hands have never moved, indicating that she
never told a lie.'

'Incredible,' said the man. 'And whose clock is that one?'

St. Peter responded, 'That's Abraham Lincoln's clock. The hands have
moved twice, telling us that Abe told only two lies in his entire life.'

'Where's Barrack Obama's clock?' asked the man.

'Obama's clock is in Jesus' office.

He's using it as a ceiling fan.'

Its the End of The World... I Feel Fine

Well it certainly appears so, anyway. I just spent the weekend catching up on my political research, and unfortunately came to a ghastly conclusion. We are in for a rough 4 years under the "tax and burn" economics of the Obama administration. "Share the wealth", now there is a brand new idea that goes all the way back to that legend of freedom... Karl Marx. Yes, folks I have finally deduced that Obama is a Marxist. He is not a Democrat, which is bad, he is almost a Socialist/Communist. Allow me to enlighten you, or at least entertain you:

The rich deserve a "Fair Tax", according to the big O. Currently the highest income group is taxed at an approximate 40% rate of their income ( for you slow math minds that is almost half of every dollar they earn). They also pay property taxes, sales taxes, and death taxes. They also will be taxed on any dollar they leave to their family, even though it was already taxed. Bad system so far, but not as bad as it will get. You see under the soon to be new tax proposal, the burden will shift down. Looking back at the Clinton administration, the "High End Income group" dropped to a gross of $42,000 per year. Obama proposes to revisit this system and to get America back to supporting the government. This way we all can "benefit" from our collective income pool after the government gets its "higher more expensive"cut.

Let's ask Barak how much he raised in donations last month. According to the press, he raised a never before achieved $150 million. According to his "economic system. we all deserve part of these earnings. All wealth is to be redistributed. Remember good ole Joe, that plumber. He asked the man directly, and as B.O. was pressed he deflected and went on. Guess we won't be seeing any campaign funds directed our way now will we?

Socialism has never worked and will never work because of greed. The top folks in the government soon can't be satiated on their modest earnings from our hard work, so they increase our giving. As that dries up they increase again. Soon they can't live and we can't give so it dries up completely, and we are back to some other form of government. Stop this madness now! Do not allow this man and his "group" to ruin this country.

Obama Economics at their Finest

The election is all but over according to all the pollsters and the MSM talking-head geeks we hear from. So I decided to join the bandwagon. I went on to AlGore's invented internet, perused many psuedo-credible sources and learned all about the Marx-ication of America (conveniently entitled the redistribution of wealth). I am now a practicing member. Here is my story:

I took a client to eat lunch today. As we approached the selected restaurant, I noticed a man (he appeared to be homeless) standing by with a sign asking for monetary handouts. As usual I ignored him and went about my business. We had a great lunch, I closed a nice deal! The waitress brings our check, and I noticed that she was proudly wearing an Obama '08 pin. I paid the tab and told her that since she supported Obama, she would understand that she would receive no compensation from me, as I was choosing to give her tip amount to the homeless guy outside. She stood with her hands planted on her hips and huffed in disgust. I walked outside handed the tip amount to the homeless guy and told him to thank the hard working waitress in the restaurant for this, because she earned it, and I was just listening to the next President and redistributing the wealth.

I think this redistribution thing is going to take a little getting used to.

By the way, I will now be standing near an expensive restaurant here in town waiting for my redistribution portion 3 nights a week and on all nice weather weekends. What a great country!!

The Obamessiah's hidden agenda

This is a shocking radio interview of the Obamessiah from back in 2001 in which he laments that, within the context of the civil-rights movement, the Supreme Court didn't "break free" from the constraints of the Constitution in order to address "redistributive justice"....

It is rare today to find someone younger than 30 who learned about the Constitution, and what is means to the individual American, in school. That government indoctrination centers just do not teach US History and Constitutional History is no accident or oversight. It is purely by design. The further removed, generationally, from knowledge about the Constitution you can make young Americans, the less they will care if you trample on it, as long as they believe, no matter how stupidly, that the trampling is on their behalf. Barack Hussein Obama is the first candidate who has taken full advantage of this Constitutional generation gap. Look at the people who're voting for him. They don't have even foggy knowledge of the Constitution, much less an appreciation of it, nor that it guarantees our God-given rights against government heavy-handedness, and Obama is counting on that. To him the Constitution is an archaic document that impedes his socialist drive toward "redistributive justice". And this generation of government-educated, dumbed-down, cultish followers will help him achieve, in spite of the Constitution, his vision of a socialized utopia.

Karl Marx famously stated: The education of all children, from the moment that they can get along without a mother's care, shall be in state institutions at state expense.

This is Obama's vision of America. It's no coincidence that one of his first acts will be to institute government-run daycare centers all over the country. He wants to begin the indoctrination of your children into social-liberalism as soon as possible so they'll grow up to be loyal democrat voters who expect cradle-to-grave care from the benevolent government....at the expense of others of course.

One last thing that nobody's pointed out yet. The topic of this interview was the Civil Rights Movement. In that context, he mentions "redistributive justice" several times. At the risk of sounding racist, doesn't that mean his vision is to take wealth from whites specifically, and distribute it specifically to blacks? In other words, Obama isn't so much about equal outcomes with respect to class, but equal outcomes with respect to skin color. Nevermind that the Constitution guarantees equal opportunities for all, not equal outcomes.

It is absolutely horrifying to think this far-left radical might be President....

Let the hate-mail begin.

America's days may be numbered if Obama wins

Over at Moonbattery, Van Helsing has this YouTube clip posted.....

If you can't come up with any other reason not to vote for Obama in one week, this should pretty much convince you.....that is unless you are an America-hating, sycophantic Marxist.

Rat infestation threatens UK
Britain now has more rats than people, with the trend set to continue unless households cut down on food waste, it has been claimed.

Experts claim councils which have stopped weekly bin collections are to blame, along with mild winters and last year's floods.

Rentokil estimates there are 65 to 80 million rats in Britain compared to around 60m humans.
National Pest Technicians Association director Peter Crowden told The Daily Mirror: "In 30 years I've never known such a big rat population – and there will be an epidemic if people don't reduce food waste.
"Fortnightly bin collections now mean it's vital we recycle. Just putting extra food scraps on compost heaps means fantastic breeding grounds for rats to spread disease."

Will those Limeys never learn? Infrequent and inefficient clean-up of waste combined with increasing rat populations......didn't that allow the Black Plague to kill 30-50% of England's population in the 14th Century? Why, yes it did.

Perhaps if the UK would pick up garbage more often than every two weeks and develop an edible national diet, there would be less scraps for the rats. Here's a sampling of the typical English diet...

-rhubarb crumble, trifle and spotted dick(I don't even want to know what this is)
-The advent of take-away foods during the industrial revolution, led to foods such as fish and chips, mushy peas, and steak and kidney pie with mashed potato (pie and mash)
-A unique sandwich filling is Marmite, a dark brown savoury spread made from yeast extract, with a tar-like texture and a strong, salty taste.

Seriously, if this is what you were expected to eat, wouldn't you throw most of it away?

This is just one more example to a long list of ways, that the once great UK is collapsing under the weight of political correctness, dhimmitude, and enviro-nuttery.

The Welfare State cometh.....thanks Bush

In case you haven't figured it out yet, I remain adamantly opposed to the moronically emotional bail-out bill. Bush has ushered in the era of big-government care of businesses, just as FDR ushered in the era of big-government care and control of Americans' lives with the New Deal. Both are disasters! FDR's New Deal created a dependent class of lazy, shiftless Americans, clamoring to be awarded other peoples' wealth as insurance against their bad decisions, just as Bush's bail-out has created a class of hand-out businesses, clamoring for insurance against their own bad financial decisions...

WASHINGTON - The bailout is now the hottest lobbying game in town.

Insurers, automakers and American subsidiaries of foreign banks all want the Treasury Department to cut them a piece of the largest government rescue in U.S. history.

The betting is that many with their hands out will be successful, especially with financial markets in a stomach-churning dive and predictions the economy is about to tumble into a deep recession.

Honestly, I find this dispicable! If mortgage banks cannot resist pressure from the likes of Barney Frank, Chris Dodd, Barack Obama, and ACORN to issue mortgages they know are worthless, then they deserve to go bankrupt. No American's earnings should be committed by force of government, to reward banks whose managers knowingly drove the company into what should be, by law, bankruptcy.

Moreover, that every troubled company and state in America is now running like starving children to a food give-away, to lobby congress for a slice of taxpayer cash is abhorrent! There should be no, NO lobbying allowed for this money. But craven politicians cannot resist free, exotic, family vacations, huge, "anonymous" campaign donations, and other fabulous cash and prizes from lobbyists to direct seized taxpayer earnings to their clients.

I swear, the corruption in Washington is mind-boggling! And this financial collapse has exposed it for all to see, but nobody's pointing it out or suggesting anything be done or changes be made...unbelievable!

Obama's plans for America

Once the liberal media deliver their personal messiah to the White House, the disassembly of the Constitution and everything this country stands for will begin in earnest. Among the utter disasters The One will force down the throats of Americans is The Global Poverty Act and the Workers Wage Insurance Act.

As if American taxpayers aren't forced to enrich, at the point of a gun, brutal dictators, corrupt UN officials, and hopeless causes around the world already, Obama has introduced the GPA. It would force American workers to fund, to the tune of $845billion over 6 years, poverty relief mostly in Africa, and it is to be overseen by none other than the dispicable United Nations.

Next up in Obama's laundry list of ways to socialize America, is the utterly moronic Wage Insurance Act. Basically, if you are a lazy, good-for-nothing, degenerate(read: reliable democrat voter), and you don't feel like working much, you can take a lower paying, and easier, job, after which other taxpayers will be forced by the government to pay you up to 50% of the difference in the two salaries.

This is the tip of the iceberg folks. If Obama is installed by the media into the presidency, our nation will change dramatically for the worse. In Obama's socialist utopia, there will be three classes of Americans. Lazy wards of the imperial state(these are the people who'll vote for him this year), the endentured laborers like the rest of us that provide the fabulous cash and prizes that Obama doles out to them, or the elite ruling class like Obama, who oversee it all and to whom the rules for everybody else don't apply.

If on November 5th, you wake up to giddy media types singing praises to their personal lord and savior, President Obama, then you'd better figure out a way to fall off the grid entirely or you'll become a servant of the State too.

Scott McClellan....pathetic!

Former Bush press secretary and back-stabbing piece of crap, Scott McClellan, has announced that he is endorsing the Obamessiah for president. Who cares?

Apparently Scott's book sales are as low as his integrity, but he still needs to pay the rent.

When pets attack

You all know how much morbid delight I get when wild animals kill and/or eat people who stupidly put themselves at risk for it. Well, over at Belchspeak, Pat has a post about this reticulated python that killed it's owner....

"Medicate Diablo."

The message, scrawled on a whiteboard, referred to Amanda Ruth Black's pet python. A few feet away, its container was empty. On the floor, Black, 25, lay dead.

Black's husband had returned to their townhouse, on Maracas Arch in the Witchduck Woods area, late Tuesday night and called police after finding his wife's body, police spokesman Adam Bernstein said.

A preliminary autopsy showed that Black died of asphyxiation by neck compression. The 13-foot-long tiger reticulated python apparently overpowered her as she tried to administer medication to it, Bernstein said.

Animal Control Officer, Doug Humphrey said Black apparently was trying to use a syringe to squirt medication into Diablo's mouth when it turned on her.

It wasn't clear what ailment the snake had, but Humphrey said Black's husband had told authorities "the snake did not like being given the medication, nor did he like the medication."

The snake didn't like the medication nor being given it....no kidding!

What makes people think that a large, aggressive, carnivorous reptiles make good pets? You cannot domesticate, or make friends with, or build a rapport with, a reptile. They see you as their potential next meal. That is all you are to them. That's reason enough to not keep one as a pet. It already wants to eat you, but to then piss it off by cramming bad tasting medicine down it's throat? Who couldn't have predicted this outcome?

Friday funny

See, liberalism even hurts the kids.

My brilliant wife observed that it would have been even more poignant if the house was the Obama residence.

An indictment of the MSM

This is Orson Scott Card. He is a journalist and a democrat. He is also very upset at the state of journalism in this country. This article of his has been flying around the internet all day. I've seen at least a half dozen links to it. If you recongnize the dispicable biasedness in the MSM's coverage of all things political, then you should read this article. Here's his question to his fellow journalists...

Is getting people to vote for Barack Obama so important that you will throw away everything that journalism is supposed to stand for?

Seriously, he is right on the money about most of the media being totally and utterly devoid of integrity, honor, and professionalism.

It's Ann Coulter Thursday!

This week Ann makes the case against Bill Ayers, domestic terrorist extraordinaire. Obama's claim that Ayers is just a guy in my neighborhood is preposterous given the decades of close interactions between the two. That the media shrug their shoulders with disinterest about this guy is mind-boggling. Ann lays it out clear as day. If, after reading this, you still believe Ayers doesn't matter, then you are a retarded cretin, same as most journalists.

There are lies, damn lies, and then there are statistics

Well, you knew this was going to happen any day now....

WASHINGTON (AP) - The presidential race tightened after the final debate, with John McCain gaining among whites and people earning less than $50,000, according to an Associated Press-GfK poll that shows McCain and Barack Obama essentially running even among likely voters in the election homestretch.

This is what the main-stream-media always do to hedge their bets against an election-day upset. They are all throwing what shreds of professional dignity and personal pride they ever had, down the toilet as fast as they can in order to prop up their Messiah going into voting day. If Obama has a 10point lead on Nov4, and McCain wins, they look real bad. If the polls show it to be a close race, and if the Bradley effect hands McCain the win, the media don't look like such utterly stupid sellouts for Obama, because "after all, the polls really tightened toward the end".

This brings us to the TRR poll question....

Do you believe election polls?
Yes, they reflect accurately voters' intentions
No, they merely reflect the bias in the pollsters asking the questions
No, they are deceptive tools of the leftist media to influence outcome
Who cares? I'm sick of the election! I'd rather comment on dirty-diaper posts
Free polls from Pollhost.com

If you've been contacted by pollsters this election year( I haven't for some reason) share the experience with us in the comments thread.

A journalist in a rare moment of honesty

Even the dispicable CNN has stopped pretending to be unbiased in how they report the election news....

That guy just laughs it off. He knows his employer is a full-throttle cheer-leader for the Obamessiah and when confronted with the truth about his duplicity, he doesn't even try to defend his journalist colleagues. Palin nailed him dead to rights and he admitted the double standard that 95% of the media have against conservatives. Frankly, I'm shocked, shocked that a republican ever gets elected with the media unapologetically rooting outright for democrats over republicans.

Fact Checker

I found this on the internet yesterday. I cannot find anything that tells me it is not true. Here is a solid reason for Americans to be comfortable with Sarah Palin, if she and McCain are elected.
I just wonder how all our defenses will fair when the legislature starts cutting military funding next year. Maybe we won't have a missile interceptor defense system any longer. Maybe we can sell it to Iraq to stem the rising price of oil !!

Question: What is America 's first line of missile interceptor defense that protects the entire United States ? Answer:49th Missile Defense Battalion of Alaska National Guard.

Question: What is the ONLY National Guard unit on permanent active duty? Answer:49th Missile Defense Battalion of Alaska National Guard

Question: Who is the Commander in Chief of the 49th Missile Defense Battalion of Alaska National Guard? Answer: Governor Sarah Palin, Alaska

Question: What U.S. governor is routinely briefed on highly classified military issues, homeland security, and counter terrorism? Answer: Governor Sarah Palin, Alaska

Question: What U.S. governor has a higher classified security rating than either candidate of the Democrat Party? Answer: Governor Sarah Palin, Alaska

According to the Washington Post, she first met with McCain in February, but nobody ever found out. This is a woman used to keeping secrets. She can be entrusted with our national security, because she already is.

The gathering cloud of socialism

Liberal democrats are so certain of an Obama victory in two weeks that they are actually coming out and saying what they normally go to great lengths to hide from voters......

Rep. Barney Frank: "Yes, I believe later on there should be tax increases. Speaking personally, I think there are a lot of very rich people out there whom we can tax at a point down the road and recover some of this money."

There you have it folks. What you have worked hard for and earned doesn't really belong to you. The government, under the direction of people like Frank, has a right to everything you make. Your income isn't based on what you earned, it's based only on what Barney Frank lets you keep. Unless the Bradley effect kicks in on election day, we are in for a rude awakening on Jan 21. America will cease to be about freedom and opportunity. Instead, it'll be about punishing success and taking wealth from the achievers and doling it out to the feckless, creating a boundless democrat voting base of unmotivated, sniveling degenerates.

Obama's New Deal

Michael Medved has an excellent, but chilling article about what the country will certainly look like after a few years of radically left, democrat rule. Based on Obama's own words and policies, Medved paints a bleak picture of a soviet-style, entitlement state where huge groups of Americans(loyal democrat voters) essentially live of the earnings of other Americans. A nation where freedoms, liberties, and personal responsiblity have died, and been replaced by government dependence, degeneracy, and sloth. If you fear the coming socialist revolution under the Obamessiah, this is a must read. Go on over to TownHall and read it. Then send this link to any of your friends who're thinking of voting for The One.

Hey senator Kerry, why the long face?

John Kerry manages to dip into the shame kettle a little deeper as he jokes around with some audience, evidently bored with life to the point that it's either go to a Kerry speech or commit suicide. I'd take suicide personally....but that's just me.

Kerry tried to relay to the audience what it is like to face the press corps’ inquiries.

“I don’t know if any of you know what it’s like. I do, obviously,” he said. “I’ve been asked all of those brilliant questions that were repeated this year.”

“Barack got asked the famous boxers or briefs question,” Kerry went on. “I was tempted to say commando.”

The senator said Obama successfully parried that question but that John McCain, the GOP nominee, had some problems.

“Then they asked McCain and McCain said, ‘Depends,’” Kerry said to lots of laughter from the crowd.

You'd think that a prissy gigilo like John Kerry, who's made a profession out of marrying vapid, rich widows and living off the fortunes earned by better men than himself, would feel shameful about making continence jokes about other senators. And you'd think that a traitor and coward who cavorted with the enemy while his fellow soldiers fought and died on the battlefield would feel shameful about never working an honest job in his life, but rather makes his living sucking at the public teet as a US senator. But then again, you'd think that a man who either injured himself or faked injury outright in Vietnam, in order to collect his three undeserved purple hearts so he could go home and turn on his country, would feel shameful about even drawing breath every day......but you'd be wrong if that guy is John Kerry.

Here's Lurch, sneaking a lecherous gander at the local "produce".

Dumb environmentalists

I'm a little tired of talking about the election. It's depressing to think of the coming socialist surge we will face with radical leftists Obama, Pelosi, and Reid running the country. And I haven't evicerated any environmentalists in a while, and you know how I enjoy that, so here's my enviro-post of the day.....

There are reasons we live in the 21st Century: cheap, delicious fast-food, cable TV, and disposable diapers. Why some smelly-hippie mommies would choose to use cloth diapers instead of disposable ones, is sort of like Madonna's popularity, a great mystery of our time.....expecially considering this news from the enviro-whacky UK, where common sense and reason go to die......

A government report that found old-fashioned reusable nappies damage the environment more than disposables has been hushed up because ministers are embarrassed by its findings.

The Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs (Defra) has instructed civil servants not to publicise the conclusions of the £50,000 nappy research project and to adopt a “defensive” stance towards its conclusions.

The report found that using washable nappies, hailed by councils throughout Britain as a key way of saving the planet, have a higher carbon footprint than their disposable equivalents unless parents adopt an extreme approach to laundering them.

That's right you cloth diaper morons! By smugly pretending that you are saving the world by wallowing in your child's filth like 17th century peasants, for the good of the environment, you have unwittingly harmed the environment instead. Look, if you want to use cloth diapers because you think it's quaint to force pilgrim-living on your family, I think you're an idiot. But that's OK because in America, you're free to be an idiot, and I'm free to call you one. What you should not do is adopt a phoney, smug air of moral superiority because you are saving the planet, nor try to guilt anybody else into joining you in your private hell of eco-derangement. Just put on your tie-dyed smock and your Birkenstocks, grab your granola trail-mix and Starbucks card, and mind your own disgusting business.

Every day it seems, another lie by the eco-Left gets exposed as being the nonsense the rest of us have always known it was. And you can count on TRR being there to mock the libs for it.

Obama....best friend to union thugs everywhere

If the sycophants in the main-stream media succeed in installing Obama in the White House, get ready for the single greatest expansion of forced unioniozation in history. The One is already on board with the idiotically named Employee Free Choice Act....

The Employee Free Choice Act would require employers to recognize unions once a majority of workers sign cards of support, and would be perhaps the most significant change in federal labor law in six decades.

As it is now, like all votes, unionization voting is private, as it should be. If employees were forced to vote publically whether to unionize or not, they would be subject to union thuggery and intimidation. Democrats are beholden to criminal union bosses because they funnel forcibly seized union dues from reluctant employees to the democrats' campaigns. Obama is a huge supporter of union thuggery and one of his first acts in office would be to pass this disastrous bill with the collusion of Pelosi and Reid.

If you are one of those moronic liberals who think labor unions are good, and you think a democratic-controlled country with high taxes and labor unions everywhere would be a good thing, then take a look at Michigan. It is controlled entirely by democrats and union thugs have destroyed the economy of the state.

If that's what you want for America, then stupidly vote for Obama.

Kids are universally stupid

This has got to be the dumbest way kids kill themselves....ever!

Researchers from the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention reviewed articles about car surfing published in U.S. newspapers from January 1990 to August 2008.

There were 99 articles about car surfing incidents, including 58 that ended in fatalities. Injuries and deaths occurred at a wide range of vehicle speeds, ranging from 5 mph to 80 mph. The average age of those injured or killed was 17.6 years old, and males accounted for 70 percent of the victims.

What happened to egging a mailbox from inside the car? Or throwing fruit at road signs as you go by....from inside the car? Or mooning the family in the car next to you at a stop light....while inside the car?

I swear, if I ever hear of my kid doing something this stupid, I'll kill him myself. I mean when we were kids, we did some dumb stuff, like building ramps and jumping them on bikes without any safety gear at all, including cups. Or having green pine-cone fights between like 5 guys, at close range with shirts off. Or having rock fights between 2-3 guys at 30 paces, and you couldn't move your feet when it was your turn to be thrown at or you automatically lose(it was better to take a rock to the clavicle or shin bone than be called a chicken). That was our idea of thrill seeking....when we were like 12. We never risked our lives.

Live by supply and demand, die by supply and demand

The oil sheiks are pissing themselves as the price of oil drops below $70 per barrel this week......

Opec on Thursday brought forward to next week an emergency meeting to consider a cut in production after oil prices dropped to less than $70 a barrel for the first time in more than a year on worries about a global recession.

The move coincided with fresh calls from those countries within the oil producing cartel that are heavily dependent on oil revenues for their budgets – most notably Iran, the organisation’s perennial hawk – to cut output. Ecuador and Qatar also supported slashing production.

Even Saudi Arabia, the cartel’s most powerful member, which initially opposed the 500,000 barrel a day cut, appears to be in agreement that the group needs to reduce its production.

This is what happens when demand for something goes down, as it dramatically has for gas. You start to see gluts in the supply and they have to lower prices to get people to start buying it again. As satisfying as it is to see the Arabs beside themselves with angst, hopefully American, and worldwide, demand for gasoline will remain low. Hopefully we'll not forget what it's like to be paying $4.00 a gallon.

Still, isn't it fun to watch them panic over our refusal to keep demading their oil?

Friday funny

In case you missed it, John McCain and Barack Obama roasted each other and themselves at the Alfred E. Smith charity dinner last night. This is some pretty funny stuff.......

It bears pointing out that in no other country in the world would you find two bitter, political opponents having a laugh at themselves and each other 3 weeks out from the election. It is a testament to our political system and to our tradition of friendly, peaceful transfer of power every 4 or 8 years.

It's Ann Coulter Thursday!

This week, Ann talks about race in politics and the possibility of the Bradley effect in this election. The Bradley effect says that black candidates generally poll higher than actual election results, because people are afraid of the racism charge if they show support for somebody other than the black guy. They'll say they support the black guy so they don't have to defend themselves for not supporting him. Then in the privacy of the polling booth, they'll vote for who they want to.

I've said it before, McCain's only chance may be the Bradley effect. If you want to read her article, go on over to HumanEvents and check it out.

The Europeanization of America

This morning, regular reader David sent this cartoon from Australia to me. His comment, that this pretty much sums up what's happening to the West, is spot on.

If Obama wins the presidency and democrats secure super-majorities in the House and Senate(likely outcomes all), America will quickly devolve, at the hands of our liberal masters, into a sad, pathetic shadow of it's former self. A nation of slouching dependence where productivity is punished and laziness and shiftlessness are rewarded.

What does it say about a nation that allows it's media to install into the presidency, a light-weight, vapid socialist with the names that sound like our two biggest, recent enemies? If George Bush had bothered to achieve even a fraction of his potential when elected, we wouldn't even be considering committing national harakiri in three weeks.

Nancy Pelosi is lying

Not only is Nancy Pelosi a vile, loathsome wretch, apparently she's also an brazen liar. Here's her statement on married democrat Tim Mahoney banging the help....

"I just learned today about the serious allegations concerning Congressman Tim Mahoney. These charges must be immediately and thoroughly investigated by the House Ethics Committee."

Please! When you are dipping your pen in the company ink well, in Washington, everybody knows about it.

SanFranNan was hoping this would surface after the election. She didn't care that Mahoney was committing adultry as long as he kept voting the way she told him to. Only when absolutely backed into a corner with the facts of wrongdoing will one democrat pretend to be shocked, shocked that the other democrat was doing anything wrong. Pelosi has worked herself up into a lather with the possibility of gaining a super-majority in the House and she will do absolutely nothing to jeopardize that, including looking the other way as a married democrat congressman cheats on his wife by diddling the help for two years.

Democrats learned well the lessons of scandal management from the master, Bill Clinton. First, deny, deny, deny(if you are a democrat, the feckless, liberal shills in the media always accept this as proof of your innocence). When confronted with proof of guilt, then and only then do you issue a weak, vague acknowledgement of wrongdoing, feign outrage, and demand an investigation.

the Cult of Obama

For any of you dumb liberals out there who think that we conservatives are making all this "Obamessiah" stuff up by portraying you as deranged, sycophantic morons, then read the last paragraph of this college student's assessment of the Chosen One......and then make your best argument......

I've officially been saved, and soon, whether they like it or not, the rest of the country will be too. I will follow him, all the way to the White House, and I'll be standing there in our nation's capital in January 2009, when Barack Obama is inaugurated as the 44th president of the United States of America. In the name of Obama, Amen.

I think I'm gonna hurl. If you have the stomach for it, go here and read the whole op/ed.

Obama reveals liberalism in a nutshell

The Obamessiah says a mouthful in this simple exchange with a regular American.....

Plumber to Obama: “Your new tax plan is going to tax me more. Isn’t it?”

Obama: “It’s not that I want to punish your success, I just want to make sure that everybody that is behind you, that they have a chance for success too. I think that when you spread the wealth around, it’s good for everybody.”

Why is it the government's business to see that wealth gets "spread around", rather than earned, in the first place?

A caller on Rush's show pointed out that Obama revealed, probably unintentionally, what we've always known about liberals. They are all in favor of the American dream, right up until the point that you actually achieve the American dream, then you become the evil, stinking rich they demogogue to their resentful, grubbing, degenerate voting base. To liberal/socialists like Obama, when you realize the American dream, that's the precise point in time when class warfare and the promise of handouts no longer buys your vote and you become useless to them.

The line of democrats is already forming at the IRS to get their hands on your wealth.

The MSM double-standard

I wonder if the media will cover this scandal involving married Florida democrat Tim Mahoney, the way they obsessed over republican Tim Foley.....

The affair between Mahoney and Allen began, according to the current and former staffers, in 2006 when Mahoney was campaigning for Congress against Foley, promising "a world that is safer, more moral."

I suspect that the media will shrug and look the other way. They have every intention of hand-delivering the presidency to their lord and savior Obama, and nothing, nothing will be allowed to rock that boat. Short of slaying, dismembering, and BBQing a small child in front of cameras, Barack Obama can count on the full, enthusiastic cooperation from his gushing sycophants in the media. They'll report this story but, it'll be a quickie footnote right before a commercial break.

If you have learned nothing from this election cycle, learn this: never trust a single source of information, especially when the source is the MSM. The MSM has abandoned all pretext of ojbectivity and neutral reporting in favor of outright, unapologetic cheerleading for democrats. You cannot trust any, any MSM reporter or reporterette as far as you can kick them.

Plundering the productive class

Democrats never miss an opportunity to increase government dependence by handing out goody bags filled with earnings, stolen from the successful class, to shiftless degenerates, i.e. democrat voting base.

WASHINGTON (AP) - After consulting with Barack Obama, Democratic leaders are likely to call Congress back to work after the election in hopes of passing legislation that would include extended jobless benefits, money for food stamps and possibly a tax rebate, officials said Saturday.
The bill's total cost could reach $150 billion.

With Pelosi and Reid in total control of congress, and Obama in the White House, there'll be no stopping the democrats from raiding the wallets of every achiever and producer in America, and forking over their plunder to the tax-free dependent crowd in exchange for votes.

I wouldn't fear an Obama presidency so much if the GOP controlled at least one branch of congress. Bush frittered away his opportunity when republicans controlled both houses but, you can bet Pelosi, Reid, and Obama will waste no time railroading us with liberalism and wealth redistribution for at least two years.

Who're the bigger criminals?

This is a PG-13 blog so I'll try to dance around this as best I can...

The plunging Dow Jones and panicky investors are hardly a problem for the world's oldest profession, where business is still brisk.

"The market is down, business is down, but we feel it less," said Dylan, 24, a promotional model-turned-Manhattan prostitute. "We're still busy."

Can somebody please tell me the difference between Wall Street hookers, and Wall Street mortgage-bankers? They both seduce you with the promise of...ahhem..."growth". They both charge you a fee for this service. And they both have made out like bandits while everybody else is scrambling to keep what they've saved. But that's about where the similarities end.

The government that you elected is propping up the Wall Street mortgage banking industry, yet the hookers have to compete in the market place like everybody else. You volunteer to have the hookers do the same thing that the Wall Street types are doing to you metaphorically. Hookers don't rob you blind. If hookers do their jobs as miserably and as incompetently as the mortgage bankers did theirs, they go to jail.....why aren't the bankers in jail?

If you ask me, prostitution is a much more honest way of making a living than mortgage banking.

Now, this guy's a hunter

OK, dipwads, in the previous post, I mocked "hunters" for being assassins and snipers in camo, and said hand-to-hand combat is the only way to legitimately call yourself a hunter. Well, this dude in Canada proved me right. Here's his account of a bear attack....

"I turned [when] I heard a grunt. All I saw was eyes full of hatred … I had no option … So I stuck my foot up and tried to kick her in the face," he said.

The bear then attacked him, knocking him to the ground, and West soon found himself on the losing side of an ill-matched fight.

"I rolled onto my stomach and clasped my hands at the back of my neck. She tore into my skull at the back of my head, moved over and bit me on the left side of my body, on my ribs and left arm," said West.

Knowing he would likely soon be dead unless he fought back, the injured West managed to get to his feet and picked up a stick about as thick as his arm.

"I said, in effect, bring it on sweetie. I took one step forward — smash!" said West.
"I swung the stick and broke it over her head. She kind of stood there and shook it off, like she was stunned," he said.

"I realized if I didn't continue the attack she would knock me to the ground again and I would not get up.

"I swung my piece of wood like a sledgehammer driving spikes and I kept swinging till she was lying flat on the ground and there was blood coming out of her nose," said West.

Now that is a serious example of bad-assery....even if he is Canadian.

When the hunters become the hunted

I find it amusing, in a macabre kind of way, when the animal kills the hunter for a change....

A group of five hunters including a man identified as Jürgen C. were recently patrolling the fields outside of the village of Linthe in Brandenburg when they spotted a large boar, according to the Friday edition of the Bild newspaper.

The 72-year-old Jürgen sent his terrier Ben in after the burly pig and another hunter, Torsten P., soon followed. “We then heard a cry and Torsten came toward us with his leg slashed open,” Ehrhard said. “He was brought to the hospital in Potsdam.”

The hunters found him on the ground bleeding heavily from the leg after the boar had slashed a main artery near the knee with its tusks. “I wrapped his wound but he passed out,” said Ehrhard. “It was terrible.”

Despite their efforts to revive him, Jürgen bled to death on the field.

I don't have a problem with hunters. I eat plenty of meat myself. It's just that sitting in a tree stand with a whisky bottle in one hand and a high-powered, rifle in the other, waiting hours for a dumb, unsuspecting creature to wander past so you can blow his brains all over the forest floor from 1000 meters, isn't exactly hunting......it's more like sniping. Unless you leap naked out of a tree, onto the back of a wild boar, with only a Bowie knife between your teeth, then you are nothing but a sniper, an assassin. I mean seriously, how low must your self-esteem be if it makes you feel superior to brag to your drunk, unbathed friends back at the lodge about shooting a defenseless, unaware animal from the safety of a hunting blind from quarter mile away? An animal that you lured there with green grass, salt-licks, and other assorted goodies like grains and nuts that animals cannot resist?

No, if you want to call yourself a hunter, kill hand-to-hand style, then brag about it.

I didn't print the rest of the story, but old Jurgen's 4 friends went out and killed the boar. And I'll bet they're bragging about what a conquest it was. My feeling is that if a hunted animal manages to hunt and kill the hunter, then it should be awarded an orange vest signifying that it is off-limits for killing for the rest of it's natural life.

Jimmy Carter has outlived his usefullness

Jimmy Carter was perhaps the worst economic President in history next to Herbert Hoover. His policies led directly to double-digit inflation and interest rates. His presidency was so awful, they had to create a new index to describe just how horrendous and appaling it was. They called it the misery index, and you calculate it simply by adding the unemployment rate to the rate of inflation. In his administration, Carter led us to a misery index of 22%. By contrast, the misery index right now is around 8%, and that's with global financial catastrophes all around us.

Here's what he had to say about the Bush's culpability in the current crisis.."I think it's because of the atrocious economic policies of the Bush administration,"

So Carter, the worst, most dismayingly awful President in my life time and who engineered the second worst economic times in US history, has the nerve to criticize Bush for this crisis, when the democrats' fingerprints are all over it. Say what you want about Bush, but he and McCain tried to regulate Fannie and Freddie, but Senators Chris Dodd and Barney Frank blocked it in committee after both receiving hundreds of thousands in bribe money from Fannie CEO Frank Raines.

That Jimmy Carter is anything but a national embarassment and a national joke is perplexing.

"Hmmmm, what else can I do to undermine my country and further embarass myself as an ex-President...because I've pretty much run out of things?"

Friday funny

Looks like even trick-or-treaters will be hit hard by the faultering economy this year.

Breaking News!!!

FoxNews is reporting that a federal judge has found that Ohio Secretary of State Jennifer Brunner, is in violation of the law in not policing the voting rules for her state.

The violations were primarily in Cuyahoga County, a heavily democrat county that included Cleveland. No doubt the fraudulent votes were going for Obama. The question remains however, if voting is anonymous, then when they find fraudulent registration cards, how do they know which pile to take the votes out of? Assuming that McCain even has a pile in Cleveland that is.

My hope is that the press will finally do it's job and link Obama to ACORN, the most corrupt, by far, grass-roots organization in America...but I won't be holding my breath.

It's Ann Coulter Thursday!

This week Ann skewers Joe "Pluggs" Biden for his idiotically wrong statements during the VP debate. She accurately points out, with all the sarcasm and wit we enjoy so much, that Sarah Palin would have had to claim that Alaska was not a state to have said something comparably stupid, yet the media ingnored all Biden's inanity in order to dissect every syllable of Palin's statements in search of the smallest inaccuracy. Head on over to HumanEvents and read the article. Then try to convince me Biden is more qualified for the VP slot than Palin.

Get while the gettin's good

Nancy Pelosi today cemented her reputation for being a vile, loathsome wretch by annoncing that the well of taxpayer cash is not quite dry.....yet.....

DENVER - House Speaker Nancy Pelosi said Wednesday that a $150 billion economic stimulus plan is needed now because of the faltering economy and she may call the House into session after the election to pass it.

Politicians around our money are exactly like unattended children around the kitchen cookie jar. If they successfully raid the jar and don't get caught by grown-ups, they'll keep coming back for more regardless of how full they get. If she manages to get this $150billion with which to buy votes, and Obama wins the election, there'll be no end to the number of midnight raids on the taxpayers' wallets....and it'll all be in the name of some sort of rescue package. The sad thing is that most Americans will buy literally any scare tactic politicians like Pelosi, Reid, Bush, and Obama use to terrify us into handing over our liberties and treasure in return for phoney safety and security. There are scant few of us who see that the two have little or nothing to do with one another.

The Crap Sandwich becomes a double-decker

Last night in the debate, John McCain uttered these startling words that might have cost him the election, that is if he ever had a chance....

WASHINGTON (AP) - Republican presidential candidate John McCain is proposing a $300 billion program for the federal government to buy up bad home mortgages and allow homeowners to keep their houses.

McCain said: "Until we stabilize home values in America, we're never going to start turning around and creating jobs and fixing our economy and we've got to get some trust and confidence back to America."

In an unusual step, McCain announced the plan during Tuesday's debate. He said that as president he would direct the federal government to purchase mortgages directly from homeowners and mortgage providers. The loans would be replaced with fixed-rate mortgages, ostensibly at a loss to the government.

So let me understand this, any dumb American who foolishly bought a home he couldn't afford, gets his mortgage refinanced and his home devalued to an amount for which he can afford to pay? What about the home values in the neighborhood? If some idiot buys a house for $300K and the government decides that he can only afford a $100K home, does he get to keep that home and only pay $100K for it? That completely undermines the whole system of home valuation. Those of us who are continuing to pay our full mortgage lose big time because our homes are now worth less.

Seriously, by promising to further nationalize the mortgage industry, I think McCain may have just thrown the election. By desperately attempting to out-populist Obama on this issue, he makes the election now about who can deliver the biggest give-aways to undeserving degenerates who got into mortgage trouble through their own ignorance and gullibility. If this is really what McCain intends to do, he may have lost my vote. Maybe I'll just write in Hank Rearden in protest on my ballot.

How's that crap sandwich tasting, America?

They say that sometimes life hands you a crap sandwich and you just have to take a bite. That's the way the bailout bill was described by many....a crap sandwich. Though unpleasant, It was supposed to be an instant, psychological kick-in-the-pants for the world credit markets, immediately unclogging the cash flow and sending banking stocks soaring around the globe......well, not so much.....

Wall Street nearly suffered a nervous breakdown yesterday as investors realized that the $700 billion Wall Street bailout plan won’t immediately save the economy and that the credit crisis was spreading to the rest of the world.

After gut-wrenching trading on European and Asian markets yesterday, the Dow Jones industrials plunged as much as 800 points, the largest one-day point fall in its history. A rally boosted stocks late in the day, but the Dow still finished down 369 points to 9,995, the first time since 2004 it closed below 10,000.

This is President Bush's ass-covering take, “We don’t want to rush into the situation and have the program not be effective.”

"We don't want to rush..."? Are you frickin' kidding me?

Bush, Paulson, Bernanke, Pelosi, Reid, Frank, Shumer, Obama, McCain, and their ass-kissing lackeys in the media, etc, told us, as they pointed a gun to our heads, that the sky would fall in a matter of hours if we didn't get behind and support their mugging of us. Well guess what? Theiving almost a trillion dollars from US taxpayers didn't do anything to quell panic around the world. Wall Street and the world markets behaved exactly as they would have if we had been allowed to keep our money.

You see, what the Asian and European markets know, is that the corruption is still here, and all the same criminals in US banking, mortgage, and politics who colluded to create this mess in the first place are still running the show. And we just handed over close to a trillion dollars to them as a reward for screwing us.

How's that crap sandwich tasting indeed?

What's in Ed's CD player this week?

Regular reader Carlos writes in with this....

Sorry to break the whole limerick mood and stuff but Ed as you might know, I'm quite the fan of your "What's in Ed's cd player this week" and you haven't informed us of your latest musical phase in awile. If you have anything you don't want to share about your taste in music, please tell us so we can ridicule you for a change.

Right you are, my friend. It's been a while since the last "What's in Ed's CD player?". So for those of you riding around bored with your tunes, I know what you're thinking....."What's that Ed listening to these days? I'll bet he's into some cool stuff." Well, without further ado, here're some of the bands and (albums) I've been listening to lately.....

I defy anybody to find fault with those selections.

Ode to Juice

In case you are clueless about what's going on in the world, OJ Simpson was found guilty on all counts regarding his armed kidnapping of some people in a hotel room in Las Vegas. The guilty verdict came on the 13th anniversary to the day, of his acquittal of double murder in Los Angeles. Though Juice deserves a capital punishment for that previous double-murder, he'll probably spend most of the rest of his life in prison for the lesser kidnapping charges in this crime spree. Since we won't be hearing much from Juice for a few years, I thought a send-off limerick was in order....

Two people were murdered by Juice
But the jury had set him a'loose
Thirteen years to the day
Now, finally he'll pay
He should dance at the end of a noose

In Vegas he played his last card
His buddy will now be the guard
Though charming he wasn't
Let's hope that he doesn't
Get shived by a dude in the yard

If you can write a limerick reflecting your thoughts on OJ, let's see 'em in the comments thread.

If you vote for crap....you get crapped on

You want to know in a nutshell what's wrong with New Orleans? Look no further than the voters.....

NEW ORLEANS -- Indicted Rep. William Jefferson on Saturday finished atop a field of seven candidates in Louisiana's Democratic primary for his 2nd District seat.

Jefferson is charged with bribery, obstruction of justice, wire fraud, money laundering and racketeering. Officials alleged Monday that the nine-term representative used the power of his office to take hundreds of thousands of dollars in bribes — benefiting himself and his family — from U.S. businesses and to influence foreign officials.

The nine-term congressman now faces a Nov. 4 runoff against political newcomer and former television reporter Helena Moreno, the only white candidate running in the mostly black district.

It's too bad that for many voters, skin color trumps all manner of illegality and corruption. Next to Detroit, New Orleans is the butt-hole of America, and it's for the same reasons. These voters will tolerate corruption, dishonesty, and graft from a politician, while they remain mired in poverty, squalor, and despair, so long as the politician has the right skin color and plays the race game around election time.

We are a nation of morons

But I thought the nearly trillion dollars, of which we taxpayers were robbed last week, were supposed to prevent this very thing.....

LONDON (AFP) - World stock markets plunged on Monday, striking four-year lows in London and New York, as the financial crisis showed no sign of abating despite a multi-billion-dollar bailout for US banks.

European equities were rattled by fresh troubles after a weekend meeting of the leaders of France, Britain, Germany and Italy failed a produce a joint European financial rescue package.

New York's Dow Jones index skidded below 10,000 points shortly after the open, the first time below the key psychological level since October 2004.

It's too late to take it back now, Henry (Chicken Little) Paulson is dancing up and down Wall Street literally throwing wads of tax-payer cash to all his buddies who are too stupid and corrupt not to loan to derelicts, money they cannot afford to pay back. I'll bet the democrats, republicans, traders, bankers, and Bush are getting a big laugh at the gullibility of the American people right about now. But then why should they expect anything other than wild-eyed hysteria and retardation from us, we're probably going to vote for Barack Obama for president in a month?

California.....tumbles into the sea

This is exactly what I predicted back when Henry Paulson(Chicken Little) started wailing that the sky would fall if the American taxpayer didn't cough up $700billion-plus-earmarks, for him to dole out to his buddies on WallStreet.....

SACRAMENTO -- California Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger, alarmed by the ongoing national financial crisis, warned Treasury Secretary Henry M. Paulson on Thursday that the state might need an emergency loan of as much as $7 billion from the federal government within weeks.

The warning comes as California is close to running out of cash to fund day-to-day government operations and is unable to access routine short-term loans that it typically relies on to remain solvent.

It's nobody's problem but those who stupidly choose to live in California if that state goes bankrupt. I could not care less. I'm sick and tired of the responsible taxpayers of America being put on the financial hook for every disaster, natural or manmade, that befalls somebody. If you can't afford for your house to be destroyed every other year by hurricanes, then get the hell out of Florida. If the voters in California don't like that their state is being run into the ground by elected officials and liberalism, then kick the bums out of office and vote somebody more responsible in. Likewise, if the stockholders of these failing Wall Street banks, brokerage houses, mortgage institutions, etc don't like it that their CEO's are raking in tens of billions in salaries and bonuses while they drive the company into insolvency and ruin, then kick them out and vote somebody else in as CEO. They have nobody to blame but themselves.....oh, and Chris Dodd, Barney Frank, and Barack Obama, who all accepted small fortunes in cash to protect these companies from any congressional oversight or regulation.

Where in the US Constitution does it say that I can be taxed to bail out California? I don't give crap what happens to California. We'd be better of without it if you ask me.

Would anybody really miss California if it went bankrupt?

A virtual cookie to the first reader who can ID the reference in the title of this post.

The end of America as we know it

Well, with a smile and a wink, today Bush signed over to the democrats, control over a huge portion of the American economy. Of course the dems couldn't resist loading the awful bail-out bill down with over 400 pages of earmarks for their shiftless, degenerate voting base.

If Bush just signed the single biggest seizure of private capital in history, thereby nationalizing 70% of the mortgage industry and spending hundreds of billions more on tax cuts for every dreadful, sniveling liberal group in Reid's and Pelosi's pay-off diary, then why is he smiling like a Cheshire cat?

Democrats and republicans will be celebrating together and toasting themselves tonight and laughing it up about how they managed to totally screw the average American yet again. The template always works, scare the crap out of the voters and they'll hand over their freedoms and give you unlimited power over them in exchange for the promise of security.

I swear, this country resembles more a Euro-style, socialist state, slouching in decline, than the shining beacon of freedom, independence, rugged individualism, and hope it was 50 years ago.

I need a drink!

Who won?

Last night the two VP candidates squared off in their only debate of the election season. Conventional wisdom around the beltway said that Biden had to stick to his talking points while not appearing condescending or too aggressive. Gov Palin had to not make too many mistakes while appearing knowledgable and in touch with the average American. I think both candidates accomplished their goals, so I would call it a toss up. Biden didn't say anything too stupid and Palin didn't expose herself as a light-weight. What do you think?

Who won the VP debate?
Sarah Palin
Joe Biden
It was a tie
Does Joe think we can't see the plugs?

It's Ann Coulter Thursday!

For those of you planning on watching the VP debate tonight, Ann has a timely primer on Joe Biden, pointing out how fawning, democrat shills in the media like Katie Cupcake grilled Sarah Palin on the minutae of McCain's career. But apparently in the Biden interview, she either didn't know or chose to ignore that not only was FDR not President in the Depression of '29, but there were no televisions available to the public at the time either, as Biden confidently claimed. She breezed right over that huge blunder.

Lest you be tricked by Biden's smile and courteousness tonight, read Ann's column before hand and see him for the half-cocked, liberal boob he is.

Footnote: Be sure to pay attention to the questions tonight in the debate. Gwen Ifill is an admitted fanatic of the Obamessiah and has a financial stake in his election to CiC. I wonder how many soft-balls she tosses Biden and how many gotcha questions she hammers Palin with?

Celebrities and their kids

Why is it that our society is so enamored with celebrities' dumb kids and their bizarre, idotic parenting styles, when if normal people treated their kids like celebrities treat theirs, we'd have our parenting rights revoked and our kids in foster care? Exhibit A: Sharon Stone

Sharon Stone’s suggestion that her 8-year-old son get Botox injections to rid him of smelly feet is just one of her many parenting over-reactions detailed in court papers released the other day.

There is a disorder, hyperhydrosis(excessive sweating), for which botox treatment is used, however, Sharon has a long and distinguished record of dramatic over-reactions to her kid's minor symptoms. Perhaps a bath and some foot powder should be the first fix attempt, not needles in the bottom of the feet. She also rushed him to the emergency room for spine tests when he complained of mild lower back pain...turns out he was constipated. You see, these celebrities pawn off the lion's share of parenting on some underling nanny and they have no idea what's going on with their own kids.

Britain teeters on the edge of utter irrelevance

Not satisfied with Draconian recycling rules, bans on backyard grilling, and issuing to citizens, carbon credit cards, environmental busy-bodies in the once, but no longer, Great Britain, are actually considering WWII-style food rationing as a way to combat the farcical myth known as global warming. Apparently folks in Great Britain didn't get the memo that climate change is a natural, normal, and healthy Earth phenomenon.

People will have to be rationed to four modest portions of meat and one litre of milk a week if the world is to avoid run-away climate change, a major new report warns.

The report, by the Food Climate Research Network, based at the University of Surrey, also says total food consumption should be reduced, especially "low nutritional value" treats such as alcohol, sweets and chocolates.

By run-away climate change of course they mean global warming, a complete and utter fantasy conjured up in the fever swamps of liberalism and the intended result of which is not reduction of utterly harmless CO2, but dictatorial control of all human activities by the imperial State. One would think that at some point the Brits would stop their hysterical do-gooding long enough to see that everybody else is laughing at them the way everybody laughs at the fat kid who farts in class.....but then, one would be wrong.

Price gouging solves shortages

As most of you know, there are gas lines all across Atlanta ever since Ike damaged the production capacities of the refineries in the Gulf. There is panic buying as people fill up when ever the meter gets below 3/4, and they're haording by keeping all their vehicles filled to capacity and using them basically as storage facilities against the total unavailability of gas. In effect, the psychological panic of the possibility of shortages, resulting in panic buying and haording, has created actual shortages. If prices were allowed to rise naturally, rather than remain fixed because if moronic anti-gouging laws, in response to short supply and high demand, there would be less panic buying and more gas to go around for when people really, really need it. People couldn't afford to haord it. If gas prices were say $15/gallon, how many people would fill up when the tank read 3/4 full? How many people would fill up all three SUV's just to hedge against a shortage? Not many. This would decrease demand pressure on the stations and allow their underground tanks to get filled up before they ran dry. But at $15/gallon people wouldn't be buying gas even if it was plentiful. So the station owner would look around, not see any customers, and have to lower his price to draw them back.

See how shortages can be avoided by allowing the supply/demand/price dynamic to dictate behavior? But politicians are more than happy to pander to stupid, government-educated citizens who don't understand how it works, by passing populist anti-gouging laws.

At some point in the near future, if we haven't already, America will reach a critical mass of citizens who get their news from E-True Hollywood Story, Entertainment Tonight, and American Idol and who feel, not think, their way through life. These are the people who want the bail-out bill to pass. To them, the government, not the market, is the answer to all of life's problems. If you left it to the market, these morons might have to think about things and make some decisions. I fear we're already there.

What would it take for me to get on board?

As the Senate stands poised to vote on the bail-out bill, I thought of a short list of additions to the House version of the bill that would make it slightly more palatable to me.....

1-tax cuts for businesses to help make them more liquid and less needy of credit. This would relieve some pressure on the credit market.

2-a permanent suspension of the mark-to-market accounting policy of the Sorbanes-Oxley Act

3-a transparent, detailed, and immediate public accounting of where every single dollar of bail-out money goes. Who gets it and what precisely do they do with it?

4-an iron-clad method for returning this money to the taxpayers. And not in the form of government spending on earmarks and pet projects. To every taxpayer, a check should be scratched

5-severe limitations on CEO compensation in current and future companies who participate in any rescue at taxpayer expense

6-Justice Department investigations and prosecutions of CEO's who recklessly ran their companies into the ground and walked away with millions. Likewise, investigations into politicians who, in outrageous conflicts-of-interest, took money from failed companies they're supposed to regulate and then used their political positions to protect them, ie. Barney Frank, Christopher Dodd, Barack Obama

If the Senate bill include most or all of these provisions, I might get behind it, but I won't hold my breath.
