This has got to be the dumbest way kids kill themselves....ever!Researchers from the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention reviewed articles about car surfing published in U.S. newspapers from January 1990 to August 2008.
There were 99 articles about car surfing incidents, including 58 that ended in fatalities. Injuries and deaths occurred at a wide range of vehicle speeds, ranging from 5 mph to 80 mph. The average age of those injured or killed was 17.6 years old, and males accounted for 70 percent of the victims.
What happened to egging a mailbox from inside the car? Or throwing fruit at road signs as you go by....from inside the car? Or mooning the family in the car next to you at a stop light....while inside the car?
I swear, if I ever hear of my kid doing something this stupid, I'll kill him myself. I mean when we were kids, we did some dumb stuff, like building ramps and jumping them on bikes without any safety gear at all, including cups. Or having green pine-cone fights between like 5 guys, at close range with shirts off. Or having rock fights between 2-3 guys at 30 paces, and you couldn't move your feet when it was your turn to be thrown at or you automatically lose(it was better to take a rock to the clavicle or shin bone than be called a chicken). That was our idea of thrill seeking....when we were like 12. We never risked our lives.

I never really saw the thrill in this activity either. By the way, the car behind the first car in this photo is definitely tailgating... and that is dangerous.
