“The American people will never knowingly adopt Socialism. But under the name of ‘liberalism’ they will adopt every fragment of the Socialist program, until one day America will be a Socialist nation, without knowing how it happened.”

The GOP in one cartoon

This cartoon exemplifies like no other, the establishment GOP for me. The more guys like McCain, Boehner, Graham, Murkowsky, et. al. pander to the middle-left voters in order to cling to their elected offices, the more fed-up voters will turn away and seek representation with more conservative/libertarian candidates. If we did thin en-masse, the GOP would become overnight practically, once again the party of small, limited government, lower taxes, lower regulations, and open markets.

That guy at the far left stepping off the plank, that was me toward the end of the Bush administration. I now offer no allegiance to the GOP and will vote for which ever candidate is the most libertarian-like. If there is no candidate like that on the ballot whether it's local, state, or national, I'll likely withhold my vote entirely. And I don't think I'm alone.

Voting for a bad republican gets me to the same place as if I'd voted for the democrat, and I'll not willfully participate in my own enslavement to the State.

Thanks to Moonbattery for the pic.

However flawed Iraq was under Saddam Hussein, it is worse now by orders of magnitude. Why is it that everything Pax Americana touches turns to shit?

Ed said...

Because 90% of what we touched, we had no business touching....the remaining 10% is iffy at best.

Monarchies and secular strong men are what stabilize the middle east. It's always been that way and always will be. Imposing our particular brand of democracy on them lasts only as long as we hang around to enforce it. So, why do it at all?

I ran across this headline today. It explains a lot vis-à-vis the war in Iraq.

'Jewish NeoCons' Responsible For Iraq War: MSNBC

On Morning Joe, an honest and courageous Carl Bernstein says that because he's Jewish, he could be permitted to reveal on national television that "Jewish" neo-cons were responsible for persuading President George W. Bush into starting an "insane" war against Iraq.

Ed said...

Who are these Jewish neo-cons? Cheney? Rumsfeld? Powell? Rice? The CEO's of Halliburton and Black Water?

The Iraq war wasn't a Zionist conspiracy. It was equal parts '43 finishing what '41 started, a short-sighted effort to bring democracy to the middle east, and a hurried, misguided revenge for 9/11.

It's been like 12 years since we invaded Iraq....how has this benefited the Jews? Because it got us one step closer to invading Iran and the Jews want another war with Arabs? That doesn't make any sense. Please explain.

"Please explain."

Bernstein said it. Ask him.

Yeah, but you're parroting him. You used his statement to make a point. You should back it up.
