“The American people will never knowingly adopt Socialism. But under the name of ‘liberalism’ they will adopt every fragment of the Socialist program, until one day America will be a Socialist nation, without knowing how it happened.”

Romney tells the truth >> liberals get the vapors

Here's Mitt Romney back in May speaking at a fund raiser in Boca Raton I think. From his answer it sounds like he was responding to a question about how he would convince a majority of voters to vote for him. Enjoy with me, a politician being honest for a change.....

The democrats and media (indistinguishable from one another) are beside themselves over the phrase "I don't need to worry about those people". They are saying that Romney was referring to black people, but clearly he was referring to people who voted for Obama in 2008 and/or don't pay income taxes, regardless of their race.

The only thing he could have clarified was to specify that 47% of Americans pay no FEDERAL income taxes, they still pay state and local income taxes if they have a job at all.

We conservatives have been harping on this point for decades so it's satisfying to finally hear a politician say it out loud and on the record. 47% percent of the population can vote themselves money from the public coffers and they will continue to vote for whichever politician promises to keep them on that gravy train. That's all he was saying and he was spot on.

@Ed "...he was spot on."

You are entirely correct, Ed, he WAS spot on. I am persuaded that true purpose of most entitlement programs was to create a block of voters indebted to and dependent on the Democrat Party. They have been wildly successful toward that end. So much so that a Republican might never again occupy the White House.

I think that's the idea Isaac. Alexis de Tocqueville predicted this very eventuality. Quoth he.....

"The American Republic will endure until the day Congress discovers that it can bribe the public with the public's money."

Mitt is being excoriated by the media. Too many people will believe anything they are told I'm afraid.

The GOP is fighting back with those secret recordings of Obama's talking about "redistribution" and energy prices "necessarily skyrocketing", etc.

Maybe it'll all get lost in the maelstrom.
