Chicago teachers look like angry, unhinged lesbians
Teachers in the third largest district in the US after LA and New York went on strike this morning. Among their grievances is the rules by which laid-off teachers get re-hired at other schools and how teachers get evaluated based on student test scores.
Chicago teachers' average salary is $76,000 a year. Are you kidding me? They make that much money to sit on their asses three months out of the year? And they turned down a 16% pay raise in order to go in strike. Chicago teachers are among the highest paid in the nation.
If none of this is making sense, that's because it is nonsensical.
Clearly the villainous union cares only about screwing over the Illinois taxpayers and not much about the kids. But then that's all unions ever care about....more money, less accountability, fatter union membership rolls, and more money.
I can't help but wonder that since the Wisconsin teachers' union strike failed utterly, other public sector unions are desperate to regain their dwindling power by bringing a city to its knees with outrageous demands. I wonder if this was orchestrated by smarmy union bosses to re-establish the power of unions in the public sector as a way of helping Obama.
The stated reasons for the strike just don't add up to strike-worthiness.
