“The American people will never knowingly adopt Socialism. But under the name of ‘liberalism’ they will adopt every fragment of the Socialist program, until one day America will be a Socialist nation, without knowing how it happened.”

Socialist Party presidential candidate Norman Thomas

Federal school lunch mandate is an utter disaster

Thanks to Michelle Obama's unhinged obsession with mandating health, the Healthy, Hunger-Free Kids Act got passed and is going into effect July 1. Among other things it mandates lower sugar and sodium in foods to the point of tastelessness, it bans chocolate milk unless it's skim, and all children must, MUST receive a 1/2 cup serving of fruits or vegetables whether they like it or not.

Of course with liberal elitists who think they know everything, their good intentions are what count, not the actual outcome of their idiotic, overbearing, policy dictates. Of course it's not really about the kids' health, it's about keeping the food-service unions fully funded since they bill the American taxpayer for every serving of lunchroom slop the spoon onto some kid's plate.

In Florida alone, where the program is already in effect, over $70,000 worth of fruits and vegetables have been thrown in the trash cans, yet Michelle remains steadfastly undeterred even as nationwide implementation looms.

That photograph is disturbing. I'm not sure I'll be able to eat my unhealthy breakfast now!

i actually have to suffer this torture my senior year the food is just mediocre and some times im denied the desert when i'm allergenic and/or not fond of the main dish served i agree this act is a travesty. i also noticed the portions are less for younger students and most seventh graders are STARVING by the end of the day.
