I think I've talked about this before, but it is worth repeating. The owner of the Worcester Wreath Co. in 1992 decided to do something with some extra wreaths made for the holiday season. He loaded them on a truck and sent them to Arlington, where he and some friends/volunteers put them out on some of the headstones at the national cemetery. This project has continued since then and has grown. Now local Maine school children combine an educational field trip to D.C. with a chance to distribute the wreaths at Arlington. The cemetery director decides each year which section gets decorated, so that all the graves are "wreathed" before they start over. This is a wonderful display of patriotism and a true honor to those who have sacrificed their life for this still great country.
Tomorrow at 10 is the set aside time for the wreaths to be put out. I for one will take a moment of quiet reverence and thankful prayer to honor these soldiers and their sacrifices. Maybe we can all do this and hopefully share the story with someone. Maybe the readers of TRR can start a wave of patriotism and national pride that will sweep the nation. Of course I can always dream!! Merry Christmas to all!!
