The Kennedy's are not American monarchs
“I think Vicki ought to be considered,” Hatch said on CNN’s “State of the Union.” “She’s a very brilliant lawyer. She’s a very solid individual. She certainly made a difference in Ted’s life, let me tell you. And I have nothing but great respect for her.”
If Orrin was such a great friend then he should remember that it was Teddy who got the Massachusetts law changed while republican Mitt Romney was governor, so that vacant senate seats would be filled by special election rather than gubernatorial appointment as in most states. Besides, this is America! Since when does one's surviving spouse have a right to his elected political job? If Vicky Kennedy wants to run for Teddy's vacated seat, let her slug it out with all the other contenders and the voters can decide....the way the current law says they should. There is no Kennedy birth-right to that senate seat. Orrin ought to know better and somebody should tell him to keep his yap shut.
Disrespectful Muslim gets owned by a young, female ROTC student.
SPRING HILL — Heather Lawrence didn't know the name of the girl with the Muslim head covering, or where she was from.
But as Lawrence walked by a classroom at Springstead High School on Wednesday, the 16-year-old junior did know one thing: The girl wasn't standing for the Pledge of Allegiance.
Lawrence, an JROTC member who plans to enlist in the Army next summer, says she was aghast.
"That's one of the most disrespectful things you can do," Lawrence recalled Friday. "Even the kids who are anarchists, who hate our government, still have respect to stand."
A few bells later, Lawrence was on her way to English class when she saw the girl wearing a hijab in the hallway. Lawrence confronted her.
She told her she should stand for the pledge. And, according to Lawrence's own account and a school referral on the incident, said, "Take that thing off your head and act like you're proud to be an American."
I love it!!! Of course, this being liberal-infested America, Heather was given a 1 week suspension. Still, what impressive presence and conviction in a sixteen year old! If I was that girl's father, I'd treat her to the best week of suspension anybody'd ever seen. Movies, beach trip, amusement parks, new clothes, whatever she wanted, we'd do it.

Dumb-skateboarder clips rule!
That ramp is like 8 inches...just how incompetent is this brat of a kid? And where are they playing, in a garbage dump?
Funny story: When I was in high-school, I had a friend with a temper like this kid. We played golf a lot and he threw clubs every time he hit a bad shot yet, he never spent a minute on the practice range getting better. Once he dog-hooked a drive off the tee, I mean it was the worst golf shot I'd ever seen. In frustration and embarrassment, he tried to wrap his driver around the nearest pine tree, as if it was the club's fault. He hit the tree with a half-hearted baseball swing and then realized a split second after the club hit him in the head, he had miscalculated the amount of flex in the shaft. I was doubled over laughing at him, which made him even more enraged. He stormed off and refused to finish the round....what a putz!

If you are liberal, you can get away with murder....literally
You'll read eulogies of Kennedy for days but, one particularly stood out to me. Novelist Joyce Carol Oats wrote this about Kennedy and Chappaquiddick in The Guardian on Thursday...
Yet if one weighs the life of a single young woman against the accomplishments of the man President Obama has called the greatest Democratic senator in history, what is one to think?
The poet John Berryman once wondered: "Is wickedness soluble in art?". One might rephrase, in a vocabulary more suitable for our politicized era: "Is wickedness soluble in good deeds?"
This paradox lies at the heart of so much of public life: individuals of dubious character and cruel deeds may redeem themselves in selfless actions. Fidelity to a personal code of morality would seem to fade in significance as the public sphere, like an enormous sun, blinds us to all else.
How dare liberals write off the life of a young girl as an acceptable loss, given Kennedy's tireless advancement of liberal causes! Would Ms. Oats tell Mary Jo's mother to her face that her daughter's life was worth less than Teddy's career accomplishments in the Senate? How depraved must one be to publicly announce that you think an innocent life is worth less than a political career?
The media will gloss over this issue because they adore the idea of the Kennedy's and Camelot but, don't you forget that an innocent girl needlessly died at Ted's hands. I for one, am glad that the era of Kennedy-Camelot is over and done. I never thought I'd see the media get the vapors and swoon over a politician like they always have the Kennedy's but then along came Barack Obama and the idea of Camelot was resurrected....great!!!
Liberals find brotherhood with murderers and thugs
From the hapless Jimmy Carter up to the present lot of despicable liberals, what is it about murdering, thug dictators and terrorists that appeals to democrats? I can only find a single common thread among the bunch....they all hate the United States. Why do liberals pine for the utopian idealism of statist collectivism, when in every instance, it has come through violence and bloodshed, depriving individuals by the thousands of life, liberty, and property? Fidel Castro and Che Guevara were blood-thirsty savages who murdered thousands of innocent Cubans in cold blood in order to seize control of the island nation. How any thinking American can hold these two revolutionaries up as shining examples of anything, boggles the mind, unless you understand that today's liberal democrats hate American-style, individual freedom and liberty every bit as much as Castro and Guevara did. How people like that remain in Washington is a mystery but, one thing's for sure, they do not have our best interests in mind as they force sweeping, socialist changes to the fundamental fabric of American life. Make people like Diane Watson pay in the next election by kicking them to the curb.

Dumb global-warming believers get fish-slapped in the face with irony
The Met Office has caused a storm of controversy after it was revealed their £30million supercomputer designed to predict climate change is one of Britain's worst polluters.
It is capable of 1,000 billion calculations every second to feed data to 400 scientists and uses 1.2 megawatts of energy to run - enough to power more than 1,000 homes.
The computer used 1.2 megawatts to run - enough to power 1,000 homes
However the Met Office's HQ has now been named as one of the worst buildings in Britain for pollution - responsible for more than 12,000 tonnes of carbon dioxide a year.
You'd think that a main-frame computer with that much power and speed would be put to some useful purpose, like solving time travel or elucidating the secret of The Hanson Bro's popularity, rather than regurgitating the global-warming outcome it was programmed to find.
I guess when a computer costs $48billion, it's price-tag is supposed to lend credence to it's findings but, I can program the $800 desk-top that I'm using to type this post to come to the same conclusions. Either way, it's still wrong!
Stupid environmentalists!
Eco-kooks provide solutions for problems that don't exist
You know here at TRR, we like to chronicle the abject stupidity and hilariousness of modern environmentalists, from their delusional belief in global warming to their idiotic "technology" to save the polar bears through conservation. Well, fresh on the heels of the drink-your-own-urine device and the drink-your-own-shower-water system, which we've mocked and ridiculed before, comes the combination washing machine/toilet.
To hear these dumb hippies tell it, you'd think it never rained anywhere on Earth and that we were running out of water completely. Why don't they throw in the plant purifier from two posts down and drink this too? And if I'm not mistaken, looking at this picture, are those retractable arm-rests for the toilet? Now that's an innovation I could get behind...heh, heh...get it, behind?
Exit question: if all that soapy washing-machine water is now in the toilet, what's the cat going to drink?

Hippies will do anything in the name of conservation
Eco-thinkers have come up with an amazing new way to create drinking water - by putting plants in the bottom of a shower.
Designers Jun Yasumoto, Vincent Vandenbrouk, Olivier Pigasse, and Alban Le Henry came up with the concept when looking for new ways to recycle precious H2O.
After you have washed in the special eco-shower the water passes down into a series of physical filters and is treated by plants such as reeds and rushes growing around your feet.
Dumb hippies figured out a way to drink their own urine, they may as well drink their own shower water too but, hey, at least they're bathing, right?
Goodbye Ted

Don't believe the hype from the democrats or the media
You know the 47million, being the number of uninsured Americans, Obama keeps scaring everybody with? Well, just as I suspected, as with everything else the democrats try to sneak by us, it's a gross exaggeration. Over at Linkiest, John has a link to a Hotair post in which the break-down of the real number is shown. Predictably, if Obamacare passes, we'll be paying for the health-care insurance of the 12million illegals plus 15-20million people who make far above the average income of Americans and who should be buying their own coverage but, choose not to.
It turns out that there might be 14million who genuinely cannot afford health insurance but who for whatever reason fail to qualify for Medicaid, Medicare, or Tricare.

A fool and his money....or in this case, her money
The Kush breast support gadget for sleeping. Apparently it's for women who have had augmentation surgery and now experience back and neck pain. I don't have anything against augmentation but, did it ever occur to these dumb broads to not buy FFF cantaloupes?
If you want to lose like 10 IQ points, you can go here and watch the info-mercial. There are some buxom ladies but still, you'll feel stupider for having wasted 1:23 on it.
Fiction horrifyingly becomes reality
It could be construed as a black day for the English language — but not if you work in the public sector.
Dozens of taxpayer-funded organisations have ordered a purge of common words and phrases so as not to cause offence.
Among the everyday sayings that have been quietly dropped in a bid to stamp out racism and sexism are “whiter than white”, “gentleman’s agreement”, “black mark” and “right-hand man”.
The Northern Ireland Human Rights Commission has advised staff to replace the phrase “black day” with “miserable day”, according to documents released under freedom of information rules.
It points out that certain words carry with them a “hierarchical valuation of skin colour”. The commission even urges employees to be mindful of the term “ethnic minority” because it can imply “something smaller and less important”.
The National Gallery in London believes that the phrase “gentleman’s agreement” is potentially offensive to women and suggests that staff should replace it with “unwritten agreement” or “an agreement based on trust” instead. The term “right-hand man” is also considered taboo by the gallery, with “second in command” being deemed more suitable.
Many institutions have urged their workforce to be mindful of “gender bias” in language. The Learning and Skills Council wants staff to “perfect” their brief rather than “master” it, while the Newcastle University has singled out the phrase “master bedroom” as being problematic.
In the book 1984, the government purged every word or phrase from the lexicon that in any way disagreed with the views of the imperial state. That way, everything uttered by the state would be, by definition, correct. And just like in the book where government offices were perversely named the opposite of what their functions were.....The Ministry of Peace, waged war. The Ministry of Love tortured citizens, etc. The same is true of the absurdly named Learning and Skills Council above. Clearly, it promotes dis-learning and dumbing down of the lexicon.
What kind of world are we becoming in which simple words and phrases are banned, only to be replaced by state-approved, politically correct ones? Not only is our language going down the memory hole, our civilization and culture are going with it.
Doomed by carelessness
This is Thunder Hole in Acadia National Park, Maine. It's named that because it sounds like a clap of thunder when a wave crashes into the hole. As you can see, it's close when you are out on the observation deck but, who in their right mind would go out there as a hurricane passed by?
Hurricane Bill’s storm surge struck with fierce and terrifying power Sunday on the shore of Mount Desert Island when the raging water lashed up and crashed on sightseers near Thunder Hole, sweeping three out into the turbulent sea. One of the three, a 7-year-old girl, later died.
The news media are blaming the hurricane but, really, who's fault is it that this little girl lost her life? Who places a 7 year old on a boardwalk when 30foot waves are crashing on the jagged rocks beneath her feet? Shouldn't there be a presumption of common sense in most situations where kids are involved? I'm guessing the state of Maine will be getting sued for not posting danger signs. And a skeevy trial lawyer will trick a dumb jury into believing that their grief for the family should translate into a reward, for the father's stupidity and carelessness, of loads of taxpayer money. Plus states will be required at great cost, to post, "Stay Out of the Hurricane" signs along every beach.
And the behemoth nanny-state will grow a little more.

You're too stupid to raise your own kids
The initiative, which targets toys and other products for children, enforces a new provision that makes it a crime to resell anything that's been recalled by its manufacturer.
"Those who resell recalled children's products are not only breaking the law, they are putting children's lives at risk," said Inez Tenenbaum, the recently confirmed chairwoman of the Consumer Product Safety Commission
So, coming to your yard-sale soon, will be gov't thugs in jack-boots and dark glasses to pour over your yard-sale items to ferret out any dangerous contraband, small enough that some dumb kid might stick up his nose or some other orifice. Do you people understand how utterly stupid and incompetent your government thinks you are, that you can't even manage to exercise a tad of common sense when buying things for your kids? The people who allow this sort of idiocy are your elected representatives. Show them in the next election, what you think about the government intruding into our daily lives with endless regulation and oversight. If we reward them with re-election, we'll get more of the same.

Here in the SEC, football boostership takes precedence over even parenthood
I hate to see this guy get in too much trouble because I honestly think it was probably initiated by my daughter. I don't think he laid a hand on her. He just tried to restrain her to keep from getting hit again."
This dad knows that if his daughter proves to be a distraction to Saban, and in any way jeopardizes what every Alabama fan ignorantly expects every year....a perfect season and national championship, he'll be a pariah around Tuscaloosa and will forever be shunned by Tide fans. And that's a fate worse than death in this state. So in a choice between a 300lb player and his daughter....a true Alabama dad will always go with the Tide. Because daughters come and go but, Alabama season tickets and team loyalty are the true measures of a man.

Jesse Jackson Junior is a moron!
Triple-J has not one shred of understanding about market economics that any 6th grader could easily grasp. The USPS is hemorrhaging money like Ted Kennedey's liver hemorrhages blood. Meanwhile, UPS, FedEx, and DHL are doing what private companies do, but what no government entity has ever done, make money, control costs, and operate efficiently. He stupidly claims that competition from the USPS keeps overnight-shipping costs down but, the Post Office affects overnight-shipping costs in about the same way as urinating in the ocean affects the tides.
I hope Illinois voters are heartened by the wisdom of their representatives in economic matters as they shill for The One's attempt to seize control of 1/7th of the US economy. But then, they knew he was a cretin when they voted for him so they sort of deserve him.
Cash-for-Clunkers is a warning sign against Obamacare
NEW YORK (AP) - Hundreds of auto dealers in the New York area have withdrawn from the government's Cash for Clunkers program, citing delays in getting reimbursed by the government, a dealership group said Wednesday.
The Greater New York Automobile Dealers Association, which represents dealerships in the New York metro area, said about half its 425 members have left the program because they cannot afford to offer more rebates. They're also worried about getting repaid.
"(The government) needs to move the system forward and they need to start paying these dealers," said Mark Schienberg, the group's president. "This is a cash-dependent business."
The program offers up to $4,500 to shoppers who trade in vehicles getting 18 mpg or less for a more fuel-efficient car or truck. Dealers pay the rebates out of pocket, then must wait to be reimbursed by the government. But administrative snags and heavy paperwork have created a backlog of unpaid claims.
Schienberg said the group's dealers have been repaid for only about 2 percent of the clunkers deals they've made so far.
Many dealers have said they are worried they won't get repaid at all, while others have waited so long to get reimbursed they don't have the cash to fund any more rebates, Schienberg said.
Obama bragged about how popular the program was when it ran through $1billion dollars in 4 days but, if the dealers didn't get reimbursed, where'd all that money go?
Doctors' offices who're thinking of supporting the nationalized health-care disaster of Obama's, should take a long, hard look at the Cash-for-Clunkers program when it comes time to get reimbursed for medical services provided.

Twitterers are dreary narcissists! That's right...I said it!
Forty percent of the messages on Twitter are "pointless babble" along the lines of "I am eating a sandwich now," according to a study conducted by a US market research firm.
Pear Analytics, based in San Antonio, Texas, said that it randomly sampled 2,000 messages from the public stream of Twitter and separated them into six categories.
The categories were: news, spam, self-promotion, pointless babble, conversational and pass-along value.
Pear said "pointless babble" accounted for 811 "tweets" or 40.55 percent of the total number of messages sampled.
I think 41% is being way too kind. From what I've seen, people who twitter a lot are sharing every stupid, useless detail of their drab but self-absorbed lives, easily 85% of the time. What's even more disturbing is why you would willingly follow somebody who told you precisely each day when they were taking a crap or watching TV? How desperate, sad, and pathetic must you be, to need information like that?
I'm almost to the point of not watching Fox-and-Friends on the weekends because all those morons do is read tweets from idiot viewers....and I'm sick of it! What's worse, some people on Facebook use their pages to post the exact same kind of useless drivel as if it was their Twitter page. If you can't say anything more interesting and/or thought provoking than, "I love my iPhone!", you should kill yourself and spare the world your banal, utterly meaningless existence and let the serious adults use the bandwidth for something purposeful.
Twitter....gimme a break!

Bob Novak.....RIP
WASHINGTON - Political columnist Robert Novak, a diehard conservative, pugilistic debater and proud owner of the "Prince of Darkness" moniker, died Tuesday after a battle with brain cancer that was diagnosed in July 2008. He was 78.
The very first political show that grabbed my attention as a teen was CNN's Crossfire, with Bob Novak debating from the right and Michael Kinsley debating from the left. It was from watching Novak skewer Kinsley every night on issue after issue that I realized that I was a conservative and not a liberal. Even when that little drop of spittle formed on Bob's lip when he argued with guests, I admired his positions and dedication to them. He was a formidable conservative thinker and columnist and I credit him as much as anybody with introducing me to politics. I'll miss reading his columns and listening to him embarrass liberals as a frequent TV pundit.
RIP, dude!
Tired of US mocking it, Canada makes mockery of self
It must be stupid news-story day or something. Regular reader BBC sent this one in from BBCnews...
If zombies actually existed, an attack by them would lead to the collapse of civilisation unless dealt with quickly and aggressively.
That is the conclusion of a mathematical exercise carried out by researchers in Canada.
They say only frequent counter-attacks with increasing force would eradicate the fictional creatures.
The scientific paper is published in a book - Infectious Diseases Modelling Research Progress.
Only a country as pointless and irrelevant as Canada would fund Zombie research, publish a paper, and call it "scientific". But I guess when your government doctors aren't saving lives, performing surgeries, or treating the ill, they have plenty of time for fanciful daydreaming.
I thought Asians were supposed to be smarter than everybody else
Sometimes the headline says all that needs to be said.....
"Student drowns while testing concrete canoe"
No kidding!
OSAKA -- A university student here died after a test on a concrete canoe in the Yodogawa River went disastrously awry on Sunday afternoon.
This story has all the elements of exquisite comedy....a preposterously preposterous engineering idea, supposedly brilliant Asians attempting it, and an unintentionally hilarious headline describing it. But my favorite part was the phrase "disastrously awry".....dumb kid refuses a life-jacket and then proceeds to drown.....yeah, I'd say things went awry.

"A Bodhisattva is motivated by pure compassion and love. Their goal is to achieve the highest level of being: that of a Buddha. Bodhisattva is a Sanskrit term which translates as: Bodhi [enlightenment] and sattva [being]. And their reason for becoming a Buddha is to help others. The Bodhisattva will undergo any type of suffering to help another sentient being, whether a tiny insect or a huge mammal. In Shakyamuni Buddha’s 'Perfection of Wisdom in 8,000 Lines' it states: “I will become a savior to all those beings, I will release them from all their sufferings.” If this sounds familiar to anyone not acquainted with Buddhism, then you only need to think of the example of Jesus Christ, a true Bodhisattva."

Pay thousands to dress like a douchebag
The collection, Harvard Yard, is named after the park at the centre of the campus, in Cambridge, Massachusetts. It is made up of preppy American classics – think tailored chinos, Liberty prints, short-sleeved check shirts, striped blazers, waistcoats, knitwear, coats and loafers.
The pieces will not, however, be emblazoned with the university logo. Instead the institution's colour, crimson, will feature as subtle trim on button holes and zips. Prices are out of reach of most students, starting at $165 (£99) for a pair of trousers, and going up to $495 for a coat.
Seriously, would you date a guy who wore shorts and loafers without socks? What a privileged jackass look that is!

Dummy
Circuit Judge Ben Fuller sentenced Max D. Hinton of Deatsville on Monday after his conviction of second-degree rape, sodomy , enticing a child for immoral purposes and producing and possessing child pornography.
The girl testified the two had consensual sex when she was 15 and he was 17. But a person younger than 16 in Alabama can't legally consent to have sex, and the judge voiced outrage over the child pornography involving girls as young as 6.
There was no explanation why Hinton mentioned the pornography in his job interview, which prompted an investigation and his arrest.
I can't make this any funnier than it is. Sick but hysterical, and only in the "Cotton State".

Women harming women
And here is her cover shot for SELF. Man, that is some serious air-brushing. I wonder if KC had editorial rights to what picture they used?
Here's the thing that always amazes me about the women's' fashion and cosmetic industries: they whine about chauvinist men and how they can't measure up to OUR notions of perfection but, it is they who promote these highly idealized, totally unattainable images of women and never, never show women as they actually look in reality. It is the women's industries who claim to promote women's issues of self-determination, empowerment, health, and positive self-image yet present their female readers with phony, airbrushed images of perfection that no woman can achieve. I accuse women, and absolve men, of causing the thousand-fold increase in unnecessary cosmetic surgeries. You women who publish magazines like SELF are to blame!!!
Where is Erin when you need Her?
The 29 year-old Australian man had gone back the hotel in the resort town of Queenstown with a woman, but got up in the night and wandered into a bedroom where a couple were sleeping.
"He was a bit surprised that there were two people in his room and he was butt naked," Sergeant Steve Watt of Queenstown police told the Southland Times.
As the intruder slept, the startled woman took refuge in the bathroom as her husband summoned hotel staff.
The man, who could not remember whom he had been with nor what room he had been in, and had no clothes or wallet.
Police gave him a ride home clad in a hotel bathrobe, but let him off after the guests and hotel decided not to press charges.
"It was far too funny," said Watt.
He was just loooking for Erin's Room!!
Healthcare Reform
Government-mandated segregation....coming to your neighborhood
WHITE PLAINS, N.Y. — The suburban county just north of New York City agreed Monday to create hundreds of affordable homes in heavily white communities and encourage nonwhites to move in.
The federal Department of Housing and Urban Development, which brokered the settlement with Westchester County, called it a landmark agreement that could have far-reaching national consequences. Officials said it signaled a new commitment to fair housing by the Obama administration.
"We're clearly messaging other jurisdictions across the country that there has been a significant change in the Department of Housing and Urban Development and we're going to ask them to pursue similar goals as well," said deputy secretary Ron Sims.
Westchester has dense urban areas but is best known for such suburban bedroom communities as Scarsdale and Chappaqua, where former President Bill Clinton and Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton live. Most of those villages are heavily white.
This is the Community-Organizer in Chief bringing the thuggery of Chicago race politics to bear on neighborhoods around the country. If your neighborhood is deemed "too white" by HUD, then you may be forced to build apartments and invite blacks to live there.
If poor people want to live in rich neighborhoods, then they need to stop being poor!
There is not constitutional right to live where ever you like. You have a constitutional right to live where ever you can afford. You watch, ACORN will start showing up, with blessings from Obama, in rich, white neighborhoods across America, demanding that affordable housing be constructed so poor people(translation: black people) can live there too.

To chase or not to chase...
Over 3,000 innocent people have died collaterally as a result of high-speed police chases in the last 10 years. Predictably, citizens are blaming the police for chasing the car-jackers but, is this what we want as a society who lives by the rule of law?
As a criminal, is the new place of refuge now your car? If you rob a liquor store, snatch a purse, or sell crack on the corner, as long as you beat the police to your car and start driving, you are free to go because they won't chase you?
I hate it for this family and any people who lose lives because criminals fleeing the law, lose control of their car and kill the innocent but, shouldn't we be putting the blame on the ones who're responsible....the criminals? Perhaps if California had stricter laws regarding fleeing police, rather than the most lenient in the nation, say....mandatory 20 years hard-labor for the very first offense, maybe these guys would start thinking before taking off.
What do you think? Should the police be discouraged from pursuing criminals because of the possibility of collateral damage or, should they be encouraged to chase down these vermin and beat the crap out of them when they catch them? I say if a guy endangers the public by running from the cops in a car, when he gets caught, he should receive a Rodney King beating and the cops are absolved of any stupid brutality or excessive force charges. But that's just me.
Democrats....the very embodiment of hypocrisy
Look at the signs above...they're all mass produced by professionals....they're all identical for heaven's sake. When's the last time you saw conservatives carrying protest signs they didn't make themselves at home? The hypocrisy of democrats accusing conservatives of astro-turfery, when it's is they who have organized and staged phony support for Obama's catastrophe of a health-care plan, is mind-boggling!
Another snitch-worthy blog post
Regular reader BBC sent this cartoon in. It pretty much sums up the sycophantic relationship between Obama and his submissive media followers, explaining how 52% of gullible, race-centric Americans were bamboozled into voting for him. If it weren't for Fox News and talk radio, where would thinking Americans get facts and truth about our government?

Obama's fundamentally changing America.....for the worse
Once the national health care bureaucracy becomes an entrenched part of our federal government, there will be no reversing it. It won't be like the next administration or congress will be able to throw it out and go back to the way it was. This change will be permanent and catastrophic! If you do nothing else during the month of August, contact your representatives and promise to fight against them in the next election if they dare saddle America with this idiocy.
What's NOT in Ed's CD player any more?
I know how much you enjoy playing "What's in Ed's CD player" from time to time but, once in a while we must get rid of music that we don't listen to anymore, to make room for the new tunes and generally rid our lives of pointless clutter. Well, I went through my collection and here is just a smattering of the artists that no longer have a place in my music library....
Gin Blossoms
Collective Soul
Blind Melon
Counting Crows
The Breeders
INXS
Filter
Sound Garden
Cherry Poppin' Daddies
Pearl Jam
The Sugarcubes
If you have an FYE(For Your Entertainment) store near you, they will give you store credit for your old CDs. I made like $40 for about half the collection I took in.
What music do you have that you don't listen to anymore and is pointlessly cluttering your life?
Fraud, Waste, and Abuse....your government at "work"
WASHINGTON -- When 10 members of Congress wanted to study climate change, they did more than just dip their toes into the subject: They went diving and snorkeling at the Great Barrier Reef. They also rode a cable car through the Australian rain forest, visited a penguin rookery and flew to the South Pole.
..The 11-day trip -- with six spouses traveling along as well -- took place over New Year's 2008. Details are only now coming to light as part of a Wall Street Journal analysis piecing together the specifics of the excursion.
Here are some other low lights of these fat-cat politicians living it up on our dime...
-Brian Baird (D., Wash.) and some others, along with their families, took an excursion to the Galapagos Islands to "study climate change"...cost-$200-300K.
-Ted Stevens (R., Alaska) and others, along with families, went to the Paris Air Show to "study the aviation industry"...cost-$500K.
Isn't it funny how politicians' fact-finding missions always seem to include stopovers at Hawaii, New Zealand, Paris, The Great Barrier Reef, etc.? Who here thinks it's a coincidence that "fact-finding" trips are almost always to popular and expensive vacation spots? If you raised your hand, you are a gullible moron and, in the best interests of your fellow Americans, you should relinquish your right to vote and leave the important decisions to us grown-ups!

The Love Boat for envirnomentalists
The project would see 1,900 wind-powered ships ply the oceans sucking up seawater and spraying minuscule droplets of it out through tall funnels to create large white clouds.
These clouds, it is predicted, would reflect around one or two per cent of the sunlight that would otherwise warm the ocean, thereby cancelling out the greenhouse effect caused by Carbon Dioxide emissions.
Have you ever heard of anything so stupid in your life.....I mean besides the American people allowing the feckless media to install into the oval office, a third-rate, community organizer who told us before hand he would fundamentally change our way of life?
How many trillions of dollars would 1,900 of these stupid ships cost? And what self-loathing country will volunteer the wealth of it's productive class to pay for it? I'll give you three guesses and the first two don't count.
Idiots just can't stay out of trouble
Two brothers famous for surviving a tiger attack at the San Francisco Zoo in 2007 were arrested after police found an open vodka bottle in their car during a traffic stop.
Chief Deputy District Attorney Steve Wagstaffe told the station that the officer smelled marijuana and found the open bottle of Grey Goose vodka.
The brothers were first in the news after a Christmas Day tiger attack that killed their friend, Carlos Sousa Jr., before authorities arrived and shot the animal to death.
The Dhaliwals were injured in the attack. At the time, they were suspected of taunting the tiger, named Tatiana, but that claim was never proven. They won about $900,000 in civil lawsuits against the zoo.
All that money because their friend got eaten by a tiger, and all they've done with it is buy drugs and graduate to a better brand of vodka....morons! If any two people, who by being mauled and eaten by a tiger, would benefit society, it's these two worthless pieces of crap!
Looks like Tiger bait to me.
Your basic Alabama football fan
The estranged wife of a Lawrence County High School principal is accused with giving alcohol and drugs to a 16 year old student.
Rebecca Nichols is charged with contributing to the delinquency of a minor.
She's also accused of having a sexual relationship with the victim. Police say they haven't filed sex charges linked to the relationship because the boy is 16, and he claims he initiated the contact. The arrest comes after the boy's mother filed a complaint with police.
I love when these Alabama fans get busted doing something stupid. They always wear their Crimson Tide gear for their mug-shot...heh, heh.

I am Scared!
I am publishing comments by Lou Pritchett. If remotely on target, we better get behind this man! Please read, even if you are an Obama fan. It is legitimate, written by respected, Lou Pritchett, formerly of Proctor and Gamble. Lou Pritchett is one of corporate America 's true living legends- an acclaimed author, dynamic teacher and one of the world's highest rated speakers. Successful corporate executives everywhere recognize him as the foremost leader in change management. Lou changed the way America does business by creating an audacious concept that came to be known as "partnering." Pritchett rose from soap salesman to Vice-President, Sales and Customer Development for Procter and Gamble and over the course of 36 years, made corporate history.
AN OPEN LETTER TO PRESIDENT OBAMA: Dear President Obama: You are the thirteenth President under whom I have lived and unlike any of the others, you truly scare me. You scare me because after months of exposure, I know nothing about you. You scare me because I do not know how you paid for your expensive Ivy League education and your upscale lifestyle and housing with no visible signs of support. You scare me because you did not spend the formative years of youth growing up in America and culturally you are not an American. You scare me because you have never run a company or met a payroll. You scare me because you have never had military experience, thus don't understand it at its core. You scare me because you lack humility and 'class', always blaming others. You scare me because for over half your life you have aligned yourself with radical extremists who hate America and you refuse to publicly denounce these radicals who wish to see America fail. You scare me because you are a cheerleader for the 'blame America ' crowd and deliver this message abroad. You scare me because you want to change America to a European style country where the government sector dominates instead of the private sector. You scare me because you want to replace our health care system with a government controlled one. You scare me because you prefer 'wind mills' to responsibly capitalizing on our own vast oil, coal, and shale reserves. You scare me because you want to kill the American capitalist goose that lays the golden egg which provides the highest standard of living in the world. You scare me because you have begun to use 'extortion' tactics against certain banks and corporations. You scare me because your own political party shrinks from challenging you on your wild and irresponsible spending proposals. You scare me because you will not openly listen to or even consider opposing points of view from intelligent people. You scare me because you falsely believe that you are both omnipotent and omniscient. You scare me because the media gives you a free pass on everything you do. You scare me because you demonize and want to silence the Limbaughs, Hannitys, O'Reillys, and Becks who offer opposing, conservative points of view. You scare me because you prefer controlling over governing. Finally, you scare me because if you serve a second term I will probably not feel safe in writing a similar letter in 8 years.

Dumbest kid ever, rats on self
Jake O'Donnell has a passion for Wii, and when he wanted advice on the best games he turned to Electronic Gaming. But when he checked the mailbox a few weeks ago, it wasn't games, but girls on the cover.
"I saw two magazines with my name on it, so I went back to the house and showed it to my mom," said the 12 year old.
What does this say about the future of western civilization when boys old enough to appreciate women, choose stupid video-game magazines over hot chicks...and tell their mom about it?
Ok, Ok....you can keep your hate-mail to yourselves. I'm about half kidding....half.
Hat tip to Fark.
Democrats are as corrupt and hypocritical as the day is long
Remember when Congress hysterically demanded that the auto executives show empathy for the plight of regular Americans by not flying private corporate jets to Washington but, they should drive stupid hybrids instead, to come beg for money? Now, that Obama has appropriated trillions in tax-payer largess, chief hypocrite and vile, loathsome wretch Nancy Pelosi has allowed the purchase by congress of three Gulfstream jets at a cost to the taxpayer of $200million. It seems that two Georgia congressmen(Gulfstream is located in Savannah) slipped this purchase into the bill after receiving huge donations from Gulfstream.
Where's the transparency Nancy? Why aren't members of congress flying coach like the rest of us? Why do you need private luxury Gulfstreams to travel when the economy is in the tank? Wouldn't $200million be better spent elsewhere....such as in tax breaks for Americans who pay taxes?
It's as if Democrats don't give a crap what the people think or how hypocritical, corrupt, and self-serving they are, they feel totally invincible and they are going to do exactly as they please regardless of any consideration of right and wrong. They are the elite, ruling class and neither morals or ethics apply to them. I'm telling you now like I've been telling you for six months and I'll keep telling you for another year, if we don't make these people pay in 2010, for their wickedness, deceit, and treachery, we've nobody to blame but ourselves for the collapse of our country.

Obama wants you......to be a snitch!
There is a lot of disinformation about health insurance reform out there, spanning from control of personal finances to end of life care. These rumors often travel just below the surface via chain emails or through casual conversation. Since we can’t keep track of all of them here at the White House, we’re asking for your help. If you get an email or see something on the web about health insurance reform that seems fishy, send it to flag@whitehouse.gov.
Obama wants you to sniff around your place of employment, neighborhood, gym, or coffee shop for anybody who's saying derisive or unflattering things about his preposterous health-care take-over, and rat them out to the government. Remember the last time a government had citizens snitching on other citizens for thought and speech crimes.....that's right, Nazi Germany for crying out loud!!!
Since when in America does the federal government keep tabs on regular citizens for speaking in a dissenting manner about government policy? I realize this administration has thrown out the 10th amendment entirely, and the 2nd amendment and parts of the 5th are under attack but, the free-speech part of the 1st amendment applies specifically to political speech. No government has a right to keep tabs on law-abiding citizens solely based on speech unless it is threatening or advocating violence in some manner.
UPDATE: So here's something fun to do. It's absolutely harmless but cathartic in a way too. See up there where it says to notify them if you come across something that seems fishy? Well, start sending the white house links to actual fish. Go to Wikipedia or some other googled site for fish and send the link to flag@whitehouse.gov. Look at it as your little way of poking Rahm Emanual in the eye with a sharp stick.
Alabama finally achieves #1 in something.....largest municipal bankruptcy....EVAH!!!
BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – The sheriff in Alabama's most populous county may call for the National Guard to help maintain order, a spokesman said Tuesday, after a judge cleared the way for cuts in the sheriff's budget and hopes dimmed for a quick end to a budget crisis.
Circuit Judge Joseph L. Boohaker ruled that leaders in Jefferson County — now trying to head off a municipal bankruptcy filing of historic proportions — could go ahead with plans to slash $4.1 million from the budget of Sheriff Mike Hale, who had filed a lawsuit that temporarily blocked spending cuts for his office.
About 1,000 county workers already are on unpaid leave because courts threw out a key county tax, and Hale has warned that reductions to his budget would mean fewer patrols by deputies and decreased courthouse security.
A spokesman for Hale, Randy Christian, said the sheriff told Gov. Bob Riley after the ruling that state assistance may be needed to perform basic law enforcement tasks once the department's current funding is exhausted in early September.
"We will certainly be looking at calling in the National Guard," said Christian.
Combine corruption, greed, nepotism, and incompetence with the repeal of an unconstitutional, occupational tax and you have the makings of one of the biggest municipal collapses in US history. For the last 20 years, Jefferson Co. has been seizing a percentage of the paychecks of anybody who works here, even if you don't live here. Not surprisingly, doctors and of course lawyers who wrote the tax, are exempt. A judge recently ruled it to be unconstitutional so it cut the county budget by about 1/3.
Then you have the JeffCo Commission who have been as corrupt, wasteful, and incompetent as any you can imagine, losing billions down various rat holes with nothing to show for it and no accountability. There are literally unaccounted-for billions. Nobody knows what happened to it.
With the county on the brink of bankruptcy and only vital workers still being paid, there is a shortage of cops, prison guards, and admin. workers to run the county. You may have heard that Birmingham always ranks in the top 5 in murders per capita in the US. We like to call ourselves the Detroit of the South. We're very proud! So who's going to tamp down the north-side riff-raff when they get wind that there aren't any cops to shoot at them when they terrorize their own neighborhoods? The national guard, that's who. It'll be like post-Katrina New Orleans but, without the hurricane and cannibalism.
