“The American people will never knowingly adopt Socialism. But under the name of ‘liberalism’ they will adopt every fragment of the Socialist program, until one day America will be a Socialist nation, without knowing how it happened.”

Larry Lankford experiences first-hand, the long arm of the law, Part II

This is just embarrassing....

From The B'ham News - TUSCALOOSA -- Larry Langford was found guilty Wednesday on all federal criminal counts against him, abruptly halting the 32-year career of a Jefferson County political fixture who had been Birmingham's mayor for just under two years.

The jury of nine women and three men found Langford guilty on all 60 bribery-related counts after less than two hours of deliberation in U.S. District Court in Tuscaloosa. The trial, which lasted eight days, was moved from Birmingham at Langford's request because of what he called adverse pretrial publicity.

Of course, as with all Birmingham's city politicians, race is front and center whenever adversity comes their way.....

"He is not guilty," Melva Langford said. "Only in Alabama can a black man not get a fair trial. The Justice Department has been conspiring and working hard to get my husband."

The first thing guilty, black politicians do when they get caught, is throw out phony racism charges.

When he was on the JeffCo Commission, Lankford took $236,000 in money, clothes and, jewelry to insure that county bond deals went to specific companies. At the same time he was being bribed, Jefferson County went into $1billion in debt, partially because of Lankford's crooked antics, and has since swelled to $5billion, poising the county to declare the single largest municipal bankruptcy in US history. Maybe the residents of B'ham will learn a lesson from this and elect a competent businessman as mayor next time around, rather than a skeevy race hustler with a checkered past....but I doubt it.

How can a man that asked for a venue change and got the exact spot he wanted claim he didn't get a fair trial. Prepostorous! Sadly this man was guilty of blind ambition stemming from inner corruption. He hangs around with criminals, and now will be treated as one. Good riddance to Larry "superfly" Lankford.

A local news reporter was interviewing a local defense attorney (someone well respected supposedly) and he said that Langford should have requested a change of venue TO Birmingham, because Tuscaloosa was a hard place to tr a defense because it was full of conservative, right-minded people whereas this was not the case in Birmingham so that likely a jury in Birmingham would have more clearly evaluated the evidence and likely exonerated him. Imagine that--conservative and RIGHT-minded people apparently cannot tell right from wrong.I could not belive what I was hearing. If it had been a drug dealer convicted there he would have been praising those right-minded people, but God-forbid take down a crooked politician and all the sudden it is racism. The Alabama judicial system is a total travesty. At least it worked this time....of course there is always appeal....

Yeah, Lankford was stupid to go to Tuscaloosa. He should have wanted at least one juror who might have voted for him. In Tuscaloosa, there weren't any.
