In New York congressional district 23, the race for the republican nomination has tightened between RINO Dede Scozzafava and true conservative and small business owner Doug Hoffman. The party establishment types favor Scozzafava because she's a career politician but, she's like Arlen Specter, Olympia Snowe, or Susan Collins, she votes center or left almost every time. Even Newt Gingrich endorsed her, as did The Daily Kos and Planned Parenthood. He lamely explaines why this way, "to support the party officers in that state". At the same time Tim Pawlenty and Sarah Palin have endorsed Hoffman because he's a true small-government, low-taxes, rule-of-law conservative.
As much as I like and respect Newt Gingrich, him endorsing a bad republican just to support the state party machine, is exactly what's wrong with the republican party. We need to abandon every candidate who is entrenched in DC and votes only to preserve his or her incumbency, and work to elect true conservatives like Hoffman. Fresh people with fresh conservative ideas will pull America back from the brink of irreversible decline at the hands of statists like Obama, Pelosi, and Reid.
