As predicted by conservatives, the ridiculous stimulus package did far less in terms of job creation than the administration has led us to believe....
WASHINGTON (AP) - An early progress report on President Barack Obama's economic recovery plan overstates by thousands the number of jobs created or saved through the stimulus program, a mistake that White House officials promise will be corrected in future reports.
The AP review found some counts were more than 10 times as high as the actual number of jobs; some jobs credited to the stimulus program were counted two and sometimes more than four times; and other jobs were credited to stimulus spending when none was produced.
The few jobs that were created are phony, make-work jobs for which there is no real market demand. As soon as the spigot of government money is turned off, every one of those "jobs" will vanish. It's like paying a guy by the week to blow the leaves in your yard. As soon as you no longer have money to pay him, his "job" disappears. But, feckless bureaucrats in Obama's administration aren't interested in results as defined by actual job creation, only the appearance of having good intentions to create jobs, regardless of how ethereal they are.

Yeah, once you build one of these fancy buildings, or roads, or clean coal plants -no more construction is needed and POOF no more jobs and you are back where you started. Now give loans or tax incentives or while we doing it just GIVE money to the small businesses that grow and produce and hire people for the long term. Maybe even a constuction company who would hire those workers and keep them employed as they moved on from project to project and not just do one and it's all over.Is that such a radical idea? Don't we already have some of the architecture for something like that in place? I think it's called the Small Business Administration.
