We new this was coming soon but, I was still surprised at how soon....
Tony Snow, a conservative political commentator who seemed to relish his brief stint as President Bush's White House press secretary, died in Washington, D.C., on Saturday of colon cancer at the age of 53.
"America has lost a devoted public servant and a man of character," President Bush said in a statement from Camp David, where he was spending the weekend. "It was a joy to watch Tony at the podium each day. He brought wit, grace, and a great love of country to his work."
I use to listen to Tony when he would sit in for Rush years ago before he got hired with FOXNews. My favorite thing about him as the White House Press Secretary was that he gave the press as much grief during briefings as they tried to give him. You never saw a press sec. do that. If liberal tool David Gregory or that troll Helen Thomas asked a question with a thinly veiled accusation as it's premise, Tony didn't hesitate to call them on it before defending the President. He made watching the White House daily briefings fun. Russert and now Snow in one month. Two even-handed, thoughtful journalists whose loss means Washington just got a little more partisan.
