“The American people will never knowingly adopt Socialism. But under the name of ‘liberalism’ they will adopt every fragment of the Socialist program, until one day America will be a Socialist nation, without knowing how it happened.”

Socialist Party presidential candidate Norman Thomas

Toy guns now as much of a threat as real guns

The anti-gun moonbattery moves ever forward, never ceasing. In Hayward, California an elementary school hosted a "toy-gun buyback" program, where the offspring of idiot, moonbat parents were encouraged to turn in their toy guns for a chance to win a stupid bicycle....

Charles Hill, the school’s principal, explained, “Playing with toys guns, saying ‘I’m going to shoot you,’ desensitizes them, so as they get older, it’s easier for them to use a real gun.”

Our collectivist overlords will not stop until an entire generation responds to the idea of self defense with abhorrence and revulsion. And when the citizen-sheep rely entirely on their government superiors for everything, especially personal safety, then the paternalistic utopia liberals dream about will have finally been achieved.

National emergency......gorgeous, naked, white chick lost in the woods.

This is 19 year old Maureen Kelly. Apparently she disappeared from her Oregon campsite, setting out on a spiritual quest....completely naked except for a fanny pack.

Since she's 19, beautiful, white, and naked (or as I like to call that particular collection of characteristics, "all the hallmarks for a riveting media drama"), I imagine the Oregon woods are crawling by now with every available man trying to be the one to find her.

I hope they find her 'cause I dig those nutty broads.

We really are a food-stamp nation

This is the bloated farm bill the Senate just passed. I'm sort of OK with the crop insurance as we need these guys to stay in business, even if a drought or hail storm destroys their crops one year. I'm not clear on the other items, mainly because they amount to nothing compared to the part in blue. Almost 80% of the farm bill is paid out to welfare derelicts in the form of food stamps?

In order to remain in power, democrats need as many Americans as possible needy and dependent on government for the basic needs of life. They also know that it is human nature for most to be lazy, preferring idleness to industriousness, if the pay for idleness is enough. This is why the Obama administration relaxed the qualifying standards for food stamps and predictably, millions more Americans glommed onto the food stamp gravy train, and ostensibly are bound to vote democrat to keep the stamps coming.

It's embarrassing that we Americans will choose so easily, shiftlessness and dependency over work and responsibility.

Which is more honorable work, stripper or politician?

Everybody's making a big, salacious deal about the fact that NSA leaker Ed Snowden's girlfriend is a professional exotic dancer in Hawaii where they lived. So what?

You may not approve on moral grounds, of exotic dancing as a profession, but at least it's honest work. Politicians are far less honorable, no? Exotic dancers just take off their clothes while politicians lie, cheat, thieve, slander, fleece Americans by the millions, prostitute their offices for campaign cash, and sometimes women  around them tend to get raped or die in odd ways. I could go on and on, but you get the idea.

That Snowden was in a relationship with an exotic dancer just shows that he had better taste in the company he kept as opposed to the people with whom he worked.

Edward Snowden, patriot or traitor?

I've read many articles on this guy and while Bradley Manning acted maliciously when divulged US secrets, Snowden seems to be more of an ideologue....a libertarian ideologue.

Briefly, this guy who dropped out of high school was particularly skilled at IT stuff and he quickly rose in the CIA, even that he was being stationed overseas with diplomatic cover identities. It was during this time that he became aware of just how far the US government gave itself the right to monitor all manner of communication by US citizens. So after years of observing this, he decided to expose the practices that he saw as unconstitutional and un-American.

He carefully chose only those documents that revealed questionable NSA practices of surveillance, and discarded any document, the disclosure of which might endanger a person. Bradly Manning took no such precaution.

As a libertarian myself, I get why Snowden did what he did. I know the people on FOX News are getting the vapors over it, but should they? We are seeing an unprecedented level of government surveillance of US citizens going about their private lives. If it's not stopped, then at least we should be aware of it.

It seems that with every new intrusion, the government tells us like children that it's for our own safety from the terrorists. BULLSHIT! Unless it is shown that Snowden's actions actually made us less safe from the terrorists....and in a very specific manner, then I'm taking his side for now.

I'd rather my communications be relatively private and accept a slightly higher level of risk from terrorism, than know my government is watching every move I make and storing data to be used against me at some later date if needed.

Orwellian comparisons aren't so outrageous any more

At the direction of Bush's awful Patriot Act, and joyfully continued by the Obama administration, the NSA has been collecting, or "data mining", phone, text, and e-mail information on potentially all Americans. We were told by Bush that only international calls to suspected terrorist countries would be mined for terrorist activity, but clearly domestic communications are subject to NSA surveillance too.

In a general sense I oppose the government snooping into my business without a warrant. But I recognize the specific need to foil domestic terrorism activities. It's a fine line for a libertarian to draw between privacy and security.

That said, what's to stop a marketing company from bundling millions in campaign donations and then asking for, and receiving, access to all this communications for the purposes of directed advertising? Despite the Obama administration swearing that no lobbyists would have privileged access, lobbyists have daily privileged access. It is axiomatic that money buys you political access to every administration.

What happens when non-homeland security law enforcement gets a hold of our communication patterns and holds them against us in legal matters? What about when a white house official sells our phone calls about health matters to the behemoth universal health care bureaucracy?

I've said it before and I'll say it again.....liberty and privacy are more important than security and Orwellian scrutiny by the government.

That sucking sound you hear is Detroit getting still more of our money

Michigan getting 100M of other peoples' money to tear down abandoned homes and buildings in 5 cities hardest hit by the faltering economy.

Why are we forking over money to pay for this. It's not like a natural disaster. The whole country saw this coming decades ago, yet did nothing to prevent it. Tearing down the houses isn't going to rid the community of drug dealers and criminals, it'll just concentrate them in parts of town where regular citizens live.....let's hear it for forethought.

Condi is wrong on Syria

Fmr. secretary of state Condi Rice had this to say regarding the generally escalating situation in Syria and specifically the continued reign of Bashar-al Assad as president.......

“There’s no doubt it’s time for the United States to make clear that it is going to engage in this effort to stop the difficult situation in Syria and to prevent its further spread,” she stated. “It’s already spreading across the region. So the United States doesn’t have an option of no action.”

We don't know who the opposition is in Syria. Are they Al-Qaeda? Muslim Brotherhood? Taliban sympathizers? Idiots?

We have no idea who will fill the power vacuum left by a hasty Assad exit into exile in Russia or somewhere. My guess is she's reacting to rumors, though unconfirmed, of chemical weapons being deployed on a limited basis against rebel forces, and that's a nice thought to have, but we don't know what the end-game is here. Do we occupy Syria to stop the chemical weapons use? What then, another 10 year occupation like Iraq and Afghanistan?

Condi is a Bush neo-conservative and neo-cons like to intervene, on a self-righteous combination of moral, ethical, and humanitarian reasons, into the affairs of other countries. Affairs which our media find unpleasant. We are spread far too thin as it is. We do not need another middle-east quagmire, even if Assad is using chemical weapons, albeit on a limited basis. Let his neighbors deal with him.

McCain unwittingly poses for friendly pic with likely terrorists

Noted war hawk, RINO, and darling of the American leftist media, made a surprise visit to Syria last week to meet with the opposition to Bashar-al Assad's continuing presidency. What he didn't know, but should have, is that at least one and maybe most of the guys in the picture may be affiliated with Al-Qaeda.

McCain's an old guy and probably doesn't know half of what's going on around him, but his handlers certainly should do their homework. Has McCain learned nothing from recent history in the middle east? Just like in Libya, Egypt, Iran, and Iraq, once America has assisted in the his ouster, more radical Islamic elements will seize power and the relatively modern Syria will plunge headlong back into the dark ages.

McCain feels like doing something, anything on the rumors of chemical warfare, that he hasn't considered the alternative. And Sharia medicine is far worse than secular-dictator illness.

IRS....bloated, over-funded, and criminal

During a recent audit of the IRS, it was discovered that $49million was spent by IRS bureaucrats on 220 conferences over just 3 years. Among the very serious learning activities were the lamest parodies you've ever seen of Star Trek and Gilligan's Island. In addition "team building" exercises such as office line dancing lessons were paid for by tax payers.

Why do government employees need to attend conferences anyway? Their jobs consist of following exhaustively written manuals, slacking off, and intimidating tax payers....and all of it with little or no oversight.

Despite the rampant, disturbing scandals and epic waste of money, is there anybody naive enough to think that congress will reign in that bloated, over-funded agency? Congressman of both parties need as much of your money as they can wring out of you in order to buy votes and the IRS gets it for them. They won't stop the theft of taxpayer money, they'll just talk about stopping it during election season.
