“The American people will never knowingly adopt Socialism. But under the name of ‘liberalism’ they will adopt every fragment of the Socialist program, until one day America will be a Socialist nation, without knowing how it happened.”

Et tu Pope Francis, et tu?

Yesterday Pope Francis gave his blessing to the concept of western dhimmitude to insane, violent Muslims. Though he paid lip service to the concepts of free speech and non-violence, he embarrassed himself and his church by squeaking this......
You cannot provoke, you cannot insult the faith of others. You cannot make fun of the faith of others. You can’t make a toy out of the religions of others.
Yes we can, and we will. Islam is the dark invention of a self-aggrandizing pedophile who knew that normal, thinking people would find it ridiculous, so he included in his demented Qur'anic scribblings that those who mock Islam should be slain.
Here's His Holy and Sacred be-hatted Imminence now, evidently he spotted an enraged Muslim in the crowd.

Not knowing if he said this in English or we're depending on a translation, I am inclined to give him the benefit of the doubt. He's not my Pope, since I'm not RC, but as the leader of the largest Christian church, for him to call for restraint in language concerning various religions is appropriate. He should not be saying people "can't say" certain things, implying legal coercion, however, if that's what he actually said.

Well, the example he used was to use his assistant. He said that if he(the Pope) used a swear word against the man's mother, he(the Pope) should fully expect a punch in the mouth.

That's different from killing somebody for cussing your mother. Apples and oranges.

It might be that the Paris attacks were retaliation, as one of my friends suggests, for civilian deaths at the hands of western nations meddling in Iraq and Afghanistan. I might accept that if the civilians were randomly targeted. They weren't.

The vast majority of cases where civilians in Iraq and Afghanistan are killed are in attacks by terrorist or insurgent groups, Ed. The Paris terrorists should perhaps have aimed their "retaliation" at al Qaeda or ISIS public relations offices for encouraging mayhem in the name of their prophet. Perhaps they could target the Boko Harem rampage through eastern Nigeria - complete with 10 year old female suicide bombers - if civilian deaths concern them.

I agree with you Bill, but reality isn't on the radars of most of these people and their American sympathizers.

It's like deBlasio instructing his son to behave differently around cops because he's half black, when it's thousands of times more likely that his black son will be victimized by other by another black.

Au Contraire. Every Iraqi and every Afghan killed by coalition bullets, shells and bombs was a civilian before the west ... without provocation or justification ... invaded and started indiscriminately killing, maiming and destroying.

The indigenous population did exactly what you would have done if you were the invadee instead of the invader.

Isaac, we can debate the merits of the provocation and justification, but we know that the genesis of 9/11 was in Afghanistan, the murdering Taliban were committing human rights atrocities by the thousands every day and in Iraq, our good friend Saddam was gassing whole villages, raping(literally) his women by the hundreds for shits and giggles, slaughtering Kurds, and pretending quite convincingly to have in his possession, chemical weapons.

We can debate whether any of that was worth invading those respective countries, but it seems to me to be unarguable that those atrocities took place without any retributive motivations toward the US.

The world was clamoring for us to do something because we're the only ones who can. Should we have? I don't know. In hindsight it may turn out to have been a waste of time, but we'll see. The fact is that Iraqis and Afghans were slaughtering each other way before we got involved.

Please stop saying nonsensical things, Ed. It isn't becoming.

"...and in Iraq, our good friend Saddam was...."

What Saddam did or did not do was not our business at all ... at all. We stuck our nose where it had no place being. The result of our criminality there is that the Iraqis are worse of then they were under Saddam by orders of magnitude. Some benefactor we turned out to be.

"...Iraqis and Afghans were slaughtering each other way before we got involved."

Whether true or not, it does nothing to justify our vile and wicked spree of murder, mayhem and destruction in country after country in the Middle East.

I am sick to death of the arrogant, self-righteous, warmongering, bloodthirsty attitudes that have found such fertile soil in my country of birth.

If I had the requisite resources I would emigrate in a heartbeat.

Whether we have business in the ME is a foreign policy debate for which I am ill equipped, though I believe we should be far less involved than we have been or are currently.

Getting back to you point about the Paris terrorists just doing to us what we've done to them. Based on their own words, that's not true.

These terrorists always yell "God is Great" and in Paris, "We have avenged the prophet".

They aren't doing anything for revenge of civilian deaths back home, they're doing it because the Qur'an commands it.

Reading the comment posted above Ed's last one makes one want to go wash to remove any vicarious derangement. The author should set up a "go fund me" emigration account.

"American" must believe that unprovoked and unjustified murder, mayhem and destruction are not vile and evil. Were he were on the receiving end I suspect that he would have little trouble in recognizing the true nature of such acts.

Of course "terrorists" yell "Allah Akbar" and "We have avenged the prophet". How else would the sheeple know to hate Muslims on cue?

"He who joyfully marches to music in rank and file has already earned my contempt. He has been given a large brain by mistake, since for him the spinal cord would fully suffice. This disgrace to civilization should be done away with at once. Heroism at command, senseless brutality, deplorable love-of-country stance, how violently I hate all this, how despicable and ignoble war is; I would rather be torn to shreds than be a part of so base an action! It is my conviction that killing under the cloak of war is nothing but an act of murder." ~Albert Einstein
