The Nobel Peace prize is traditionally reserved for loathsome, anti-Semites like Jimmy Carter, terrorist appeasers like Mohamed ElBaradei of the IAEA, or actual terrorists like Yasser Arafat. Judging by this news, now simply hating the U.S. qualifies one to be nominated...OSLO, Norway (AP) -- Former Vice President Al Gore was nominated for the 2007 Nobel Peace Prize for his wide-reaching efforts to draw the world's attention to the dangers of global warming, a Norwegian lawmaker said Thursday.
"A prerequisite for winning the Nobel Peace Prize is making a difference, and Al Gore has made a difference," Conservative Member of Parliament Boerge Brende, a former minister of environment and then of trade, told The Associated Press.
Brende said he joined political opponent Heidi Soerensen of the Socialist Left Party to nominate Gore as well as Canadian Inuit activist Sheila Watt-Cloutier before the nomination deadline expired Thursday.
It would be amusing to watch Al Gore comically basking in the world-wide, man-made global warming hysteria that he whipped into a frenzy, if his aims weren't so blatantly anti-capitalist and anti-American. Like all America-hating leftist wackos, Al Gore sees the U.S. as the source of all evil in the modern world. To mitigate the "damage" our country afflicts on Mother Earth, Al would cripple America's economy with punitive CO2 emissions limits, effectively rendering us non-competitive--which, fulfills every liberal's secret utopian fantasy---all the world's people, equal in misery.
