Unless you are the Unabomber-II and living in a shack in Montana, no doubt you've heard about the passing of Anna Nicole Smith. I was watching the coverage last night and thinking about why we are so obsessed by self-destructive people like her. I watched her reality show a few times and I remember, observing her life was like watching a slow-motion train wreck. I was horrified but for some reason I couldn't look away.
Anyway, in glimpses of her few moments of unmedicated sobriety, she seemed like a genuinely nice person. She would probably want to be rememberd like that, not the way we saw her in the tabloids every week. Sadly, her daughter probably doesn't stand a chance, since there are people already fighting over her to get to the money.
