Seriously, was there ever any doubt?
BOULDER, Colo. - Prosecutors abruptly dropped their case Monday against John Mark Karr in the unsolved slaying of JonBenet Ramsey, saying DNA tests failed to put him at the crime scene despite his "repeated insistence" that he killed the 6-year-old girl.
"The warrant on Mr. Karr has been dropped by the district attorney," public defender Seth Temin said outside the jail. "They are not proceeding with the case."
Nobody thought this moron had anything to do with the case other than a creepy, morbid obsession with little-girl murder victims. I think Patsy did it out of jealousy that her daughter was a more popular pageant contestant at 7 than she was as an adult. Any mother who dresses her daughter up like a hooker at that age, at any age, is clearly unbalanced and in need of pharmaceutical intervention. The father covered it up either because he didn't know for sure or because he had lost his daughter and didn't want to lose his wife as well.
Or it could just have been a random thing by some guy who followed them home from a pagaent and will never be solved?
Whatever, I'm glad it'll soon be off the news.

It might be giving this gut too much credit to say he planned this to escape more stringent Thai laws (and punishment - caning comes to mind) but it's worth considering.
Let's see: escape death, get a free business-class flight to the motherland including free booze and jumbo prawns, start the clock on my fifteen minutes of fame with movie and book deals to follow.
Americans love this stuff. People magazine is already stiffening at the thought of a cover photo.
darn it: gut not gut. I even previewed.
I give up
David, are you sure you haven't been premedicating in anticipation of your procedure?
