“The American people will never knowingly adopt Socialism. But under the name of ‘liberalism’ they will adopt every fragment of the Socialist program, until one day America will be a Socialist nation, without knowing how it happened.”

Who cares?

This story illustrates why Israel, and by extension the U.S., cannot claim a victory in Lebanon in any shape or form over the terrorists...

Inquiry Opened Into Israeli Use of U.S. Bombs
By DAVID S. CLOUD

WASHINGTON, Aug. 24 — The State Department is investigating whether Israel’s use of American-made cluster bombs in southern Lebanon violated secret agreements with the United States that restrict when it can employ such weapons, two officials said.

The investigation by the department’s Office of Defense Trade Controls began this week, after reports that three types of American cluster munitions, anti-personnel weapons that spray bomblets over a wide area, have been found in many areas of southern Lebanon and were responsible for civilian casualties.

This touchy feely way of conducting a war is driving me crazy. Israel is one of the good guys, Hezbollah is one of the bad guys. Shouldn't we want Israel to employ whatever means are at her disposal to defeat the enemy? Since when do we demand that our military and that of our allies, prosecute a sensitive, concerned, moral war on Islamic terrorists?

Surely when these cluster bombs were sold to Israel, it was with a wink and a nod for the benefit of the sniveling State Department bean-counter in attendance. What possible use for cluster bombs could the State Departmentl imagine besides dropping them on somebody? It's like giving a 5 year old a lolly-pop and then saying, "Don't lick it". C'mon, fighting terrorists is what Israel does.

And from a purely economic standpoint, we should encourage our allies to use the weapons we sell to them. It creates jobs back home. The more Israel bombs the terrorists in Lebanon, the more bombs we have to make to replace them.
