“The American people will never knowingly adopt Socialism. But under the name of ‘liberalism’ they will adopt every fragment of the Socialist program, until one day America will be a Socialist nation, without knowing how it happened.”

Obama goes off the rails

Obama has gone completely off the rails. In Sweden today, he tried to say with a straight face that he never set a "red line" threshold for chemical weapons in Syria, but is he not aware of recent advancements in modern audio/visual recording equipment?

This is Obama from just last year, from FoxNation -- “We have been very clear to the Assad regime, but also to other players on the ground, that a red line for us is we start seeing a whole bunch of chemical weapons moving around or being utilized. That would change my calculus,” Obama said. “That would change my equation. . . . We’re monitoring that situation very carefully. We have put together a range of contingency plans.”

Sounds like a "red line" ultimatum to me. We might be witnessing the collapse of a modern presidency that has been propped up by the fawning media. But even the media cannot ignore obvious conflicts like this.

Lying is a strategy that has worked for him. It will not work forever but the damage caused maybe already irreversible.

In a way you have to feel sorry for Obama.

His bosses* are demanding a Syrian war. Obama knows that Iran will then have two choices: 1) fight the U.S. side-by-side with Syria, or 2) wait and fight the U.S. without Syria’s help when the bosses move on their real objective, Iran. Number one will be distasteful but number two will be more so.

Russia and China know that if Iran falls, their Iranian oil supply will be at risk and so they will be forced to enter the fighting on the Syrian/Iranian side.

Faced with those strong likelihoods, I would equivocate about red lines, too. In the end, Obama has no choice but to go along with the plan given to him. He has seen film footage of the Kennedy assassination … taken from the grassy knoll.

*During an argument between the Israeli prime minister Ariel Sharon and foreign minister Shimon Peres, Peres said that Israelis' policies of continued violence might "turn the U.S. against us". To this Sharon retorted: "Every time we do something, you tell me Americans will do this and will do that. I want to tell you something very clear: don't worry about American pressure on Israel; we, the Jewish people, control America. And the Americans know it." - October 3, 2001 (IAP news)

Obama's red-line equivocation is more about covering his ass with republicans for when all this goes to shit....which it will.

Yes, one shit sandwich coming up. The only mystery is who will consume it. Could be Obama. Could be the Republicans. But I think the American people are at the head of the line.

Oh yea, you want fries with that?

There are at least 10 other countries where human-rights atrocities are taking place far worse then this. How does he explain symbolically bombing Syria, in response to human-rights atrocities, and not any of these other countries?

He's ridiculous and he knows it at this point. There's no move he can make or spin he can offer that will allow him to save face on this one.

In Palestine, for example. I, for one, would support American boots on the ground to punish the perpetrators there. Maybe even a tactical nuclear strike or two.

Oh please! Palestine isn't on anybody's list.

You must live a sheltered life, Ed. The atrocities committed on the Palestinian people are at the TOP of a great many people's lists.

Google "atrocities in Palestine" sometime and you will see that while you wear blinders in this regard, millions of other people don't.
