“The American people will never knowingly adopt Socialism. But under the name of ‘liberalism’ they will adopt every fragment of the Socialist program, until one day America will be a Socialist nation, without knowing how it happened.”

how the other half lives...

For $135 million you, too, can live like a prince. That is the asking price for the palatial Aspen compound of Prince Bandar bin Sultan bin Abdul Aziz, a real estate financier confirmed Tuesday. It is the highest real estate price in U.S. history, and possibly in the world, experts said. The price tag trumps Donald Trump, who had the previous highest offering on the national market, $125 million for a beachfront home in Florida.Bandar is the former Saudi Arabian ambassador to the United States. His 95-acre Starwood Ranch property includes a nearly 56,000-square-foot mansion, and several smaller homes and buildings. The main home is larger than the White House, and includes 16 bathrooms, 15 bedrooms, stables, a tennis court, an indoor swimming pool, outdoor water features and a snowmelt driveway.

This is really pretty but how far to the nearest Piggly Wiggly?

The size of this compound leaves me wondering why I didn't become a foreign diplomat. It also leaves me with a question about how many terorists can be housed and trained in a 56,000 sq. ft. building. How would the owner know if the out buildings were occupied by - say- Ossama BL himself. Am I becoming paranoid, or are these fears rational and fair. I now want to know what lurks in the shadows around me. It used to be that I had no fear of attack here in Birmingham - Now I think our number hasn't been called - yet.
Our time may be coming.

Thankfully this house (which by the way reminds me of Ed's summer home in NO. Al. Smaller than his palatial beach home on the gulf coast however) is so close to the left coast that I think we are safe for the time being.

If I made as much money as Reid undoubtedly does, I would buy houses in the mountains and at the beach.

Hey Reid, I just thought of an idea...since Scrushy had to surrender his passport after his indictment and he wants to take his family to the Bahamas, why don't you invite him to vacation at one of your palatial mountains estates?

Richard can rot in **** as far as I am concerned. When his illegal dealings came out, I lost a over 100K out of pocket on material placed for the new hospital. If he wants to negate my losses, I might consider urinating on him if he were on fire and nearby.`

Well, I reckon that explains the hostility. Can't say I blame you.
