Reason #793 to detest injury lawyers
Up in New York, a couple of law firms banded together and filed an injunction request to try to force Toyota to STOP repairing the sticky accelerator pedals. That's right...I said STOP the repairs.
"But Ed" you naively wonder, "Why in the world would lawyers want to prevent a car company from taking an action that will undoubtedly save untold numbers of lives?"
Silly, guileless reader......injury lawyers would gladly let thousands die in fiery crashes if it means they can sue Toyota for billions, rather than allow Toyota to prevent the deaths in the first place. They smell chum in the water and they will stop at nothing to prevent Toyota from repairing their cars. They want as much death and dismemberment as possible that they can blame on Toyota. They'll sue on behalf of the victims' families as a class action and pocket several hundred million of the billions awarded in the judgement or settlement.
Then the price of Toyota's will skyrocket to pay for it. And the lawyers will laugh all the way to the bank as they look for another company to feed on.
