Cash-for-Clunkers....just another tax-payer funded hand out disguised as economic policy

A lot of Americans took advantage of the Cash-for-Clunkers program to the point that it ran out of a billion dollars in less than a week. So the government appropriated $2billion more of your money to extend the program but, is this what government should be doing with taxpayer money?

-Who says the auto companies aren't jacking up the prices like all stores do, just before they have a big sale?
-Don't be fooled when the Obama administration uses the phony sales statistics to claim that they alone saved the American auto industry when all they did was bribe people, using your money, into buying new cars they couldn't otherwise afford.
-Perhaps these people are driving clunkers because they can't afford new cars. So I'd like to see how many of these new-car owners default on their payments after 6 months. Obama and the media will hide those statistics.
-Did the government not learn a lesson about meddling in markets when they put people into mortgages who have no business committing to house payments....people who need to be renting, or if you understand the analogy, need to be driving a clunker and can't afford a new car?
-Finally, why is our tax money being used to pay for other peoples' cars? People should buy their own stupid cars.

I swear! To Obama and his cabal of socialists, there is no problem whether it's social or economic that can't be solved by the heavy hand of government intervention.

This is the socialist utopia that demented liberals dream about for America. A carefree world where nobody earns too much, wealth is equally distributed among the classes, and you don't have to work if you don't want to. The benevolent government will provide for all your needs and you have no responsibilities.

Stimulus.....shmimulus!

This so-called stimulus package is nothing but the liberal democrats' dream of using other peoples' money to pay back campaign favors, engineer a socialist utopia, and redistribute purchasing power from the people who earned it, to derelicts who didn't.

But it's also a zero-sum scheme being paraded by The One as an infusion of money into the economy. Before they can send out "stimulus" checks, however, they first have to confiscate that money from taxpayers, then they give us back, in the form of stimulus checks, the same money they took from us to begin with. How does this stimulate the economy when no extra money is available? They will simply have taken money from the productive achievers in society, and given it to the loafing derelicts who voted for The One. So instead of having money responsibly invested in job creation by people who know how, you have that same money spent on cigarettes, booze, and crystal meth...or whatever idle democrat voters do for recreation.

The triumvirate of leftist snake-oil salesmen explain how they will remake America into a socialist, utopian hell-hole, with them in charge, of course.

Everybody else is doing it, why not Hustler?

With the financial industry, auto makers and more getting assistance from the federal government to stay afloat during the recession, the adult industry decided it would try to get something as well.

Girls Gone Wild CEO Joe Francis and “Hustler” magazine publisher Larry Flynt have said they will petition Congress for financial aid along the lines of what the Big Three auto makers are getting.

Francis said that he and Flynt are asking for $5 billion, and that they have sent letters to Treasury Secretary Henry Paulson, Congress and their local Congressman, Henry Waxman (D-Calif.) with the proposal.

Francis said in an interview with FOX Business. "We will use the money wisely, and we will create more jobs."

Francis said that if invited, he and Flynt would drive across the country in a hybrid vehicle to present their plans to Congress.

Francis said he and Flynt would also be willing to discuss the possibility of the government buying equity stakes in their companies, as was done with financial firms.

"If the government would like to be a partner with Mr. Flynt and I, we’re certainly amenable to it," he said.

I know this article reads like satire from The Onion, but it's quite real. And it brilliantly illustrates the absurdity of the government bailing out private industries who're too incompetent to be successful in the free-enterprise market.

If the various industries who're begging taxpayers for bailout cash, deserve it, then by the exact same arguments, so does the porn industry.

The reference to that idiotic, driving-to-DC-in-a-hybrid stunt was priceless!

Amsterdam cleans up it's act...for now

Isn't this sort of like killing the goose that lays the golden eggs?

AMSTERDAM, Netherlands (AP) - Amsterdam unveiled plans Saturday to close brothels, sex shops and marijuana cafes in its ancient city center as part of a major effort to drive organized crime out of the tourist haven.

The city is targeting businesses that "generate criminality," including gambling parlors, and the so-called "coffee shops" where marijuana is sold openly. Also targeted are peep shows, massage parlors and souvenir shops used by drug dealers for money-laundering.

Amsterdam not selling sex and drugs is as believable as GM not selling cars......oh wait!

I'm not a proponent of these things, but seriously, would anybody visit Amsterdam if it weren't for the brothels, sex shops, and marijuana cafes? Without all that stuff, it's just another run down European city populated with narcissistic, aging socialists.

When Vegas decided to become family-friendly, tourism and gambling revenue dropped. Now they're back to being a profitable, adult playground. And I predict Amsterdam will do the same thing in a couple of years when they realize that sex and drugs are the only reasons people come there.

The Obamessiah's hidden agenda

This is a shocking radio interview of the Obamessiah from back in 2001 in which he laments that, within the context of the civil-rights movement, the Supreme Court didn't "break free" from the constraints of the Constitution in order to address "redistributive justice"....



It is rare today to find someone younger than 30 who learned about the Constitution, and what is means to the individual American, in school. That government indoctrination centers just do not teach US History and Constitutional History is no accident or oversight. It is purely by design. The further removed, generationally, from knowledge about the Constitution you can make young Americans, the less they will care if you trample on it, as long as they believe, no matter how stupidly, that the trampling is on their behalf. Barack Hussein Obama is the first candidate who has taken full advantage of this Constitutional generation gap. Look at the people who're voting for him. They don't have even foggy knowledge of the Constitution, much less an appreciation of it, nor that it guarantees our God-given rights against government heavy-handedness, and Obama is counting on that. To him the Constitution is an archaic document that impedes his socialist drive toward "redistributive justice". And this generation of government-educated, dumbed-down, cultish followers will help him achieve, in spite of the Constitution, his vision of a socialized utopia.

Karl Marx famously stated: The education of all children, from the moment that they can get along without a mother's care, shall be in state institutions at state expense.

This is Obama's vision of America. It's no coincidence that one of his first acts will be to institute government-run daycare centers all over the country. He wants to begin the indoctrination of your children into social-liberalism as soon as possible so they'll grow up to be loyal democrat voters who expect cradle-to-grave care from the benevolent government....at the expense of others of course.

One last thing that nobody's pointed out yet. The topic of this interview was the Civil Rights Movement. In that context, he mentions "redistributive justice" several times. At the risk of sounding racist, doesn't that mean his vision is to take wealth from whites specifically, and distribute it specifically to blacks? In other words, Obama isn't so much about equal outcomes with respect to class, but equal outcomes with respect to skin color. Nevermind that the Constitution guarantees equal opportunities for all, not equal outcomes.

It is absolutely horrifying to think this far-left radical might be President....

The Europeanization of America

This morning, regular reader David sent this cartoon from Australia to me. His comment, that this pretty much sums up what's happening to the West, is spot on.



If Obama wins the presidency and democrats secure super-majorities in the House and Senate(likely outcomes all), America will quickly devolve, at the hands of our liberal masters, into a sad, pathetic shadow of it's former self. A nation of slouching dependence where productivity is punished and laziness and shiftlessness are rewarded.

What does it say about a nation that allows it's media to install into the presidency, a light-weight, vapid socialist with the names that sound like our two biggest, recent enemies? If George Bush had bothered to achieve even a fraction of his potential when elected, we wouldn't even be considering committing national harakiri in three weeks.

Just say "NO" to socialism

Over at Michelle Malkin, she has a great post about a movement to kill this disastrous bailout bill while it's in its infancy. Over the weekend, apparently democrats snuck in additional bailouts for credit cards, car loans, and school loans. These aren't bailouts for you, they will essentially hand over cash money, taken from you in taxes, to the crooks who created this mess through greed and arrogance. And now we hear that the FBI is investigating all the CEO's for possible fraud. Where does this insanity end? Don't let Paulson and Bernanke, both Wall Street insiders, scare you into thinking this is a good idea. There is no guarantee it will do anything for the economy. There is no guarantee that the economy won't do fine without it. $700billion of taxpayer cash is an awfully big gamble to be so uncertain of the outcome. The Obamessiah is onboard for sure, and J.Mac is apparently testing the political electoral winds before he decides. If this utter disaster of a bill gets passed and then signed by Bush, we will have essentially become a socialist state just like France.

I cannot stress this strongly enough.....CALL OR E-MAIL YOUR REPRESENTATIVES RIGHT NOW AND TELL THEM TO VOTE "H#LL NO" ON THIS BAILOUT.

Starving kids in China would kill for that haggis

Rather than resist it's hostile colonization by Islamic radicals, Great Britain is bravely resisting food consumption instead(probably because food won't blow up your house, riot in the streets, or cut off your head in retaliation)....

Supermarkets will be urged to drop "three for two" deals on food that encourage shoppers into bulk-buying more than they need, often leading to the surpluses being thrown away. The scandal of the vast mountains of food that are thrown away in Britain while other parts of the world starve is revealed in a Cabinet Office report today. It calls for a reduction in food waste: up to 40 per cent of groceries can be lost before they are consumed due to poor processing, storage and transport.

Soviet-style food rationing is every beady-eyed liberal's wet dream. While militant Islamists terrorize entire UK neighborhoods, convert schools into Muslim indoctrination centers, and intimidate the British citizenry into denying their own rich culture and history in order to embrace the depraved, third-world Muslim culture, the fearless government fights food waste. Aspen or bust!

I'm sure most of you are familiar with the version of human euthanasia known as "Duty to Die". It's the barbaric socialist theory which proposes that any elderly, infirm, injured, or otherwise nonproductive citizens have a moral, ethical duty to kill themselves(or at least not prolong their own lives) for the greater good of their family and society. As if that weren't greusome enough, modern liberals have taken it two steps further: maybe we should go ahead and kill them when they don't want to kill themselves and while we're at it, let's pack a picnic and involve the whole family, kids too. Here's an exerpt:

Folks, there are huge numbers of people(liberals) in this country who believe exactly that. We aren't talking about Terri Schiavo or Karen Anne Quindlan, or the terminally ill who're in pain and have hours to live anyway. We're talking about the mentally retarded, your retired mother or grandmother, really anybody who is inconvenient.

Seriously if you are a liberal and you believe in human euthanasia, you really need to search your soul, because a little bit of it is probably dead.

"Hey kids, if only grandma wasn't sick this week, we could go skiing in Colorado. What do you say we string her up?"

Here's perhaps the last thing grandma will ever see if liberals had their way.

Socialism is on it's way

The other day BO had just finished questioning Bill Clinton's false claim that he was originally against the war, then the questioning changed topics and this tidbit was predictably glossed over by the media...

When asked about the difference between his health care plan and Sen. Hillary Clinton's plan, Obama said they're not all that different.

But, he said, Clinton has not specified how she would enforce a mandate for coverage.

"[It's] more of a political point that she's trying to make rather than a real point," Obama said.

The issue of mandates for health care has driven the debate between Clinton and Obama for the past few weeks. Obama says he would enforce his mandate for health care for all children by fining parents if they refused to allow health care coverage for their children.

"I am happy to be very clear how we enforce mandates for children, and the reason is because children don't have an option."


So President Obama will use the power of the federal government to force American families to fork over money for a health-care program in which they do not want to participate? Then if they wisely refuse, he'll fine them? How much? What happens when they refuse to pay? Will he garnish their wages to generously pay for the health-care of degenerate riff-raff who choose to remain unemployed and poor? What if the family is self-employed? Will doctors become agents of the Imperial State, ratting out families who they know aren't participating? Will children in school be encouraged to alert teachers/snitches if they know their parents are against nationalized health-care? As a last resort, will BO throw parents in jail for non-participation? What will happen to children whose parents refuse to participate no matter what? Will they be placed in State orphanages?

You think I'm being hysterical but seriously think it through, once you start down he road of the federal government forcing free citizens to participate against their will, in a program based on socialism, what are the teeth of enforcement? Without teeth, there is only chaos and lawlessness....witness the immigration program. There is only one program I can think of in which each American is forced to participate....the seizure from our checks of federal income taxes. The enforcement teeth of that progam are heavy fines, financial ruin at the hands of the federal government agents, jail time, lasting credit and financial scars that follow over a lifetime. Is that the kind of teeth BO is talking about when he says "enforcement"? Is that the kind of President you want for America?

Finally and most importantly, where exactly in the Constitution is the power of forced socialized health-care awarded to the federal government?

The creeping rot of socialism is coming to America people and you'd better wake up and do something about it. Every day Congress is looking for ways to get around the Constitution and saddle us with socialist policies like universal health-care while we sit around watching MTV, pretending to be horrified when Britney shows her privates yet again this week. There is a lot at stake next year. Educate yourselves, pay attention, and vote for the candidate who most mirrors your ideals.

The devolution of France

The French people are showing the world what a disaster decades of loafing, degeneracy, and dependence will lead to...

FRANCE almost ground to a halt today as strikes by workers protesting against their President's plan to make them work harder and longer crippled the country's infrastructure.
Teachers, postal workers and other civil servants joined forces with protesting transport workers in strikes to challenge Nicolas Sarkozy's plans to reform the economy.

The French worker already only works 35 hours a week, gets weeks-long government paid vacations, and job security regardless of how shiftless and lazy he is as a worker. Sarkozy wants to bring his country back to the productive, competitive, world economic power France once was, but the French people are lazy and used to a care-free life of decadence and ease. They don't want to work harder or longer hours, take shorter vacations, or compete for job security the way Americans have to, and they resent being told so. And they are willing to cripple their country in order to protect their spoiled, self-indulgent life-styles.

The French workers, like many sniveling liberals here in the U.S., don't care that government-funded socialism is unsustainable over the long term and at some point, somebody's got to pay for it all. They want their slice of the free cake that somebody else paid for and nobody's going to deprive them of it. Look what France has devolved into, a sad second-rate country made of lazy degenerates crying for someone to provide for their needs...what a national embarrassment!

As if the thought of a Hillary Clinton presidency wasn't horrifying enough, here's another ghastly story from the U.K. that gives us a glimpse of our health care system under her command...

A man described how he pulled out seven of his own teeth because he was told to wait for an appointment to see an NHS dentist.

Taxi driver Arthur Haupt used pliers and a technique he had learned in the army to carry out the DIY dentistry.

He said he was forced in agony into taking the drastic action because he was given a three-week wait by staff at his local NHS dental surgery.

Socialized medicine is no joke folks. Everywhere it's been tried, it has failed miserably to provide even basic care for the people who're subjected to it. Of course Hillary won't be pulling her own teeth, she'll have a private medical staff ready to service her needs at the drop of a hat. But if Hillary gets elected queen, the rest of us little people had better stock up on pliers, gauze, and rubbing alcohol.

A vote for Hillary is a vote for pulling your own teeth.

You'd think Hillary would have figured out in '93 that Americans don't want socialized medicine. Not to be deterred by what the people want, Hillary is sneaking government-run health care in on us with SCHIP(State Children's Health Insurance Program). In another example of what an abject failure socialize medicine is, there's this story from the UK, or as I like to call it, what the US will be under a Hillary presidency...

Britain's Baby Units 'On Brink Of Collapse'

Special care baby units in Britain are "near breaking point", with some babies being turned away because they cannot ensure adequate care, a charity has warned.

A spokesman said: "All the evidence points to a neonatal service that is on the brink of collapse."

The report found many neonatal units were forced to refuse new admissions for considerable periods of time because of staff shortages.

Mothers and babies may be forced to travel long distances in search of a unit with the appropriate facilities to care for them, the charity said.

Hillary is determined to have the government(run by her of course) be in control of every aspect of American life. With the hand-wringing, self-serving democrats behind her and the spineless, republican cowards running for cover, she might just get what she wants. But the enlightened class like Hillary don't have to worry about adequate, much less superior, health care because they're rich and will have their own private doctors at their beck and call, leaving the rest of us to stand in long lines, wait months for basic diagnostics, travel to God-knows-where to have babies safely, and suffer the effects of sub-standard pharmaceuticals because Hillary-care will remove the profit motive for private development of new life-saving drugs.

To liberal socialists like Hillary and her ilk, it matters not that everybody, including babies and children, will suffer, as long as we are all suffering equally, in her eyes.

I've been bashing the U.K. populace lately for their embarassing submissiveness to the hostile Muslims who're openly attacking their country. Apparently the police feel they have stopped the aggressive colonization of England as they have time for other crime fighting activities like this...

FOUR cops were sent to a mum’s home — to demand her daughter’s garden TRAMPOLINE.

They were backed by THREE council officials — and insisted safety rules meant she must surrender the 14ft trampoline.

She had splashed out £280 for the sports kit less than a month ago as a sixth birthday gift for daughter Katie-Jane, a gymnast.

Mum-of-two Charlotte said she was left baffled by the demand because she always supervises her daughter’s bouncing and even installed a safety net.

Charlotte, of Tadworth, Surrey, said: “I begged for it to stay and they agreed, as long as I took it down myself. I’m amazed the police didn’t have anything else better to do.”

They even warned her year-old son Jack’s “unsafe” sandpit could be filled in.

Nanny-state intrusiveness like this creates a dependent, numbed population unwilling to think or act on their own behalf to save their own lives, since the "state" is doing everything for them. That's why the Brits don't seem alarmed when local Muslims attempt, some successfully, to kill civilians with bombs. They don't feel responsible for anything...even themselves.

Sadly this little girl may live to see the asinine nanny-state government of England replaced with a hard-line Islamic one.

Tony Blair bows to the hysteria and dooms his country

I know some of you are tired of my pointing out the idiocy that is man-made global warming zealotry, as practiced by moonbats here in the U.S. and on the other side of the pond. But this issue isn't going away as long as the Goreacle and his brain-dead minions in the environmental movement continue to hoodwink world leaders like Tony Blair...


Here Tony Blair stands in front of a "green bus", whatever in the world that is. Of course he is posing with the requisite moonbat officials and school children which liberals trot out to convince the skeptical world that it's all worthwhile.

Britain will lead the world towards combating climate change, Prime Minister Tony Blair vowed today as he unveiled the Government's blueprint for reducing harmful emissions.
Mr Blair said the new draft legislation - which binds the UK to a 60 per cent cut by 2050 - was a "revolutionary step".

60% by 2050? What Tony Blair's brain-washed advisors failed to tell him is that cutting CO2 emissions that much will cause the costs of everything normally produced by CO2-associated production to skyrocket. The resulting economic collapse will doom that country.

The funny thing is trying to guess what will doom the U.K. first, horrible economic policy dictated by environmental moonbattery, or complete colonization by radical Muslims.

France Tells U.S. to Sign Climate Pacts or Face Tax

PARIS, Jan. 31 — President Jacques Chirac has demanded that the United States sign both the Kyoto climate protocol and a future agreement that will take effect when the Kyoto accord runs out in 2012.

He said that he welcomed last week’s State of the Union address in which President Bush described climate change as a “serious challenge” and acknowledged that a growing number of American politicians now favor emissions cuts.

But he warned that if the United States did not sign the agreements, a carbon tax across Europe on imports from nations that have not signed the Kyoto treaty could be imposed to try to force compliance. The European Union is the largest export market for American goods.

“A carbon tax is inevitable,” Mr. Chirac said. “If it is European, and I believe it will be European, then it will all the same have a certain influence because it means that all the countries that do not accept the minimum obligations will be obliged to pay.”


I wonder how his wine and cheese producers will feel when the U.S. hikes the price of those goods up by 50% in retaliation. Carbon tax or not, France is a dying country and will be the first old-Europe country to fall under Muslim-Sharia law. Then, CO2 emissions in the U.S. will be the least of their problems.

In France, we are literally watching before our very eyes, a moribund culture willingly commit suicide with political correctness, socialism, and dhimmitude before their Muslim colonizers.
