From Guardian -- Scientists have grown sperm in the laboratory in a landmark study that could help preserve the fertility of cancer patients and shed fresh light on male reproductive problems.

Fertility experts called the work a "crucial experimental advance" towards the use of lab-grown sperm in the clinic and a stepping stone to the routine creation of human sperm for men who cannot make the cells normally.

With women pretty much doing everything that men used to do and science headed in this direction, males of the future will be relegated to opening jars and paying for dinner and little else.

Saudi royals party like Caligula when nobody's watching

I don't care what anybody says about the Wikileaks scandal, the Saudi royals getting outed as being total and utter hypocrites when it comes to observing their Wahhabi Islamic religion can only be a good thing. Go on over to the Guardian, and read all the sordid details that describe the kind of fraternity-gone-wild parties they throw for themselves.....

"Alcohol, though strictly prohibited by Saudi law and custom, was plentiful at the party's well-stocked bar. The hired Filipino bartenders served a cocktail punch using sadiqi, a locally-made moonshine," the cable said. "It was also learned through word-of-mouth that a number of the guests were in fact 'working girls', not uncommon for such parties."

I've been reading stories about how decadent western culture is having a "bad" influence on strict Islamic culture in harshly oppressive nations like Iran, Yemen, and Saudi Arabia. Apparently the youth in these countries would much rather watch Desperate Housewives and Two and a Half Men than memorize passages out of the Koran and they are rapidly losing their strict national and Islamic loyalties in favor of American-style moral turpitude.

If the leaders of these nations are exposed as religious and moral hypocrites, perhaps it's not too late for the next generations to be more moderate and less hostile to the West.

The true story of Thanksgiving

I originally posted this two years ago and thought it was worth revisiting....


Happy Thanksgiving to all TRR readers. I appreciate you stopping by and leaving your two-cents-worth from time to time. As I do each year on T-giving, I offer my belief about the possible origin of Thanksgiving framed by the issue with which we wrestle today....

Rush talked about this on his show today and I've heard it many times before in various media but, the link between the Pilgrims and the current question of socialism that we face in this election is interesting. As I've pointed out many times before, the crap with which the government indoctrination centers(public schools) fill your kid's head about history, government, and society is mostly politically correct garbage. Thanksgiving is a perfect example. If you asked 100 public high-school graduates what the Pilgrims were thankful for, 99 of them, assuming they could find Canada on a map of North America, would tell you the Pilgrims were thankful to the Indians for saving their wretched, miserable lives. Here's how the basic tale goes, at least in most public schools:

The interloping, white Pilgrims rudely invaded the peaceful serenity of Earth-loving, native-Americans(the original environmentalists), bringing with them disease, pestilence, and tooth decay. Not to mention wastefulness of Earth's precious resources, the assumption of white superiority over dark-skinned people, and syphilis(and that's just what your first grader learns). The Pilgrims didn't know how to hunt, fish, or garden so half of them died during the first winter(and rightly so because they were such bad people to the quaint Indians). During the following Spring and Summer, the kind, benevolent Indians taught the stupid, lazy white Pilgrims to provide for themselves. After the bountiful harvest at the end of the summer, the Pilgrims invited the Indians over for a feast to thank them for saving their decrepit, worthless, miserable lives...after which the Indians were either killed or rounded up and put on reservations and made to become alcoholics and failures because the white man didn't want any more trouble from them. And that's the story of Thanksgiving that your first grader no doubt can recount to you almost verbatim.

Well, it didn't exactly happen like that. William Bradford, the first governor of Plymouth, wrote about the first colony, its troubles, and about its first Thanksgiving. You can read an excellent account here, or in many other places on the web.

What teachers always leave out of the story of the Pilgrims, is that they attempted collectivism, i.e. socialism for the first time in America, right there in Plymouth. Bradford assigned every family that remained after the first deadly winter, a plot of land. Every family had to take whatever they grew and put in a collective common area from which every family could take what it needed. What Bradford very quickly learned was that in the absence of self-interest, the Pilgrims were a bunch of shiftless degenerates who sat around waiting to get some of what everybody else produced, to the point that barely anything got produced at all. Collectivism/socialism had failed utterly and completely, because where's the incentive to work hard, and be efficient and productive if the fruits of your labor will be taken away and given to others who haven't worked as hard, if at all?

So Bradford re-issued plots of land to each family and whatever they grew on that plot of land was theirs to keep or sell. Soon, with the incentive of self-interest, the Pilgrims were producing more food than they could possibly eat. So they set up trading posts to facilitate the mutually beneficial, free exchange of goods between each other and with the Indians. From their profits, they were able to pay off their debts to the King back in England. (The news of great wealth being generated in the New World encouraged other entrepreneurial minded folks to make the voyage as well.) Their ingenuity, efficiency, and productivity produced so much food that they hosted a feast, and invited the Indians to join them, to thank God, not the Indians for their lives and their bounty.

See, that's not the politically correct tale of Thanksgiving collectivism that unionized school marms like to teach. Like William Bradford, Obama wants to create here in America, a collectivist utopia where many people share in the bounty produced by the few. But unlike Bradford, Obama does not have the wisdom to see that it is doomed to failure....and there's a lot more at stake this time around.

When you give thanks today, say a quiet prayer for America's determination to resist the collectivists drive to socialize our country. Say it quietly because you don't want to antagonize too much on Thanksgiving, the one or two smug liberals we all tolerate in our families.

We're obsessed with Bristol Palin now?

By now you've probably heard that Bristol Palin made it to the finals of Dancing With The Stars. Predictably, dumb lefties think it's a tea-party conspiracy to rig the voting and give her the win. In liberals' defense, there are probably enough dumb conservatives who think that voting excessively for Bristol and giving her an undeserved DWTS victory, somehow validates Sarah Palin's, and by extension their own, politics?

Let me be clear.....both of you are IDIOTS! It's a stupid TV show. I doubt I could sit through an entire hour of DWTS without putting a loaded .38 in my mouth. Why would anybody view it for anything other than what it is....a cheesy ratings bonanza for Fox and mindless entertainment for millions of celebrity-obsessed half-wits.

I don't care if you watch the show, but for it to enter your conscious mind even once other than during the hour you waste watching it, makes you an imbecile.

Does fiscal conservatism = social conservatism?

Republican senator Jim DeMint had this to say a couple of days ago.....

Jim DeMint: “You can’t be a fiscal conservative and not be a social conservative”

To put his statement in context, he was saying that the frame of mind that makes you a fiscal conservative will most likely make you a social con. as well. But is this statement true in a general sense? What about libertarians? It seems to me that if you, like DeMint claims about himself, are in favor of limited government and oppose on principle the nanny-state, then accepting a government role in modifying behavior of the citizenry, is incongruous at best. Either you are for limited government and the individual right to pursue happiness in any way he or she sees fit, or you are not.

As a libertarian, I don't care of gay folks want to marry each other....nobody has made a bigger mockery of the institution of marriage than we heteros. I think marijuana-use laws should be relaxed. I don't care if a teacher is gay or pregnant and unwed, as long as they are good teachers and don't try to indoctrinate my kid into their lifestyles. I believe that individuals should be able to pursue happiness any way they like, right up to the point that it infringes on somebody else's pursuit of happiness.

DeMint's statement just got me wondering what other people thought. Does your small-government, fiscal conservatism necessarily make you a social conservative as well?

R.I.P. Barbara Billinglsey

I used to watch Leave it to Beaver every afternoon after school. I know June Cleaver is every loathing feminist's nightmare compared to the role they feel women should play in modern society, but she epitomized the prototypical mom of the 50's....not coincidentally the last useful American generation. Championed by the feminist movement, every generation since the beginning of the dissolution in the 60's, of the traditional family unit, is self-indulgent, entitled, and determined to have immediate gratification in every endeavor with very little long-sightedness or self-denial. Not saying that everybody born in the sixties or later is like that but generationally, that seems to be the norm rather than the exception.

Asking for it

In case you aren't a sports fan, this is Ines Sainz, she covers the NFL and other sports for TV Asteca. Over the weekend she tweeted about how embarrassed she was when she was treated to cat calls and whistles from Jets players in the locker-room after a practice.

These are pictures of her at work, doing her job. Now, I'm not condoning sexual harassment and certainly if she felt threatened or was touched in any way, that qualifies as harassment and should not be tolerated but, COME ON!

You don't dress like a hooker and then expect to not draw some male attention. She's lucky all they did was whistle and make a couple of comments. A woman doesn't put her lady-parts on display and then complain when men react to it. I don't feel sorry for her one bit. I think she saw the attention that Erin Andrews got from being a victim and thought she could make a name for herself that way too. The difference is that Erin Andrews was actually the victim of a crime. Ines is the victim or beneficiary of her own bad fashion judgement, depending on how you look at it.

Off the deep end with Joseph Farah

I've always read World Net Daily and have respect for it's editor Joseph Farah, but I think he's completely missing the point on this whole "gay" issue with Ann Coulter.

To bring you up to speed, Ann was slated to speak at a WND conference until Farah heard that she had agreed to also speak at the GOProud convention, which is a gathering for gay conservatives. Farah opposes gay marriage and immediately struck Ann from the WND line-up and publicly criticized her for her choice of audiences. Of course Ann went on Red Eye and called Farah a "swine", "attention whore", and "a pretend Christian" with all the biting sarcasm we expect and enjoy from Ann.

Bizarrely, Farah went on a Serious Radio show hosted by a gay dude, in order to insult Ann some more for speaking to gays, then he renounced conservatism altogether. Honestly, I don't know what problem values-conservatives have with gay conservatives. Who cares of they want to get married? As long as they favor low taxes, federalism, limited government, and don't hinder my pursuit of happiness, I don't care if they want to marry their gold fish.

Conservatism should be a big-tent movement that accepts all conservatives regardless of their orientation. This anti-gay litmus test to prove your conservative credentials is absurd and it's why the democrats continue to successfully label us the party of exclusion and hate. And the obsession with sexual orientation of the religious right is not only creepy and telling, it's contradictory to what you claim conservatism is about. If the government needs to stay out of the personal lives of Americans, then so should you.

You social conservatives need to get over yourselves and judge other conservatives by their issue positions and not their personal lives.

Exit question: there are lots of conservatives who are atheists. Does this disqualify them from being in our movement too?

Your tax dollars spent to study the obvious

Regular reader Billy sent this link to an article describing a taxpayer-funded research project that came to the Earth-shattering conclusion that food advertised on TV tended to be more unhealthy than fresh fruits and vegetables at the grocery store.....you don't say?

From Arcamax -- SAVANNAH, Ga. (UPI) -- Foods advertised on television tend to be high in saturated fat, cholesterol and salt, and low in nutrients that protect against disease, U.S. researchers say.

Is this really the sort of thing we need to be spending taxes on? You have to be either mentally retarded or Michael Moore to not know that food advertised on TV isn't necessarily healthy. Why not, How To Cap Mile-Deep Oil Leeks, or How To Separate 90million Gallons of Oil From Sea Water. Those are a couple of worthwhile studies to which we DON'T already have the answer.

The author of the study then added ominously: "The public should be informed about the nature and extent of the bias in televised food advertisements."

Newsflash Dr. Poindexter, anybody with a rudimentary ganglion for a brain knows what foods are healthy and unhealthy. Otherwise they deserve to end up morbidly obese with heart disease and begging to be on Biggest Loser - Season 10.

This story is both tragic and infuriating

Regardless of your opinion on gay marriage, this tale demonstrates why the government has no business in the personal lives of law-abiding citizens, and why I fall more in line with libertarians than garden-variety, social republicans.

Briefly, in Sonoma county CA., an elderly gentleman who was half of a gay couple who'd been together for 20 years, fell and was hospitalized. The doctors said he only had a few months of life remaining because of his advanced age. The hospital and state government refused visitation to his partner, seized their jointly held property, powers of financial attorney, and forced them into separate nursing homes on the grounds that they were simply roommates......and this man died alone in an empty hospital room, friendless, having not been allowed to see his partner since his accident.

What business is it of the imperial State what kind of legal arrangement two consenting adults enter into? Moreover, tell me how it's possible that gay couples can make a bigger mockery of the institution of marriage than we hetero couples have?

Our AAA credit rating is about to be taken away because of our massive, unsustainable debt and unwillingness to stop spending money we don't have. The increasingly progressive tax structure is stifling America's most creative entrepreneurs and venture capitalists....the ones who create jobs for the rest of us.

If you aren't panicked by the dangerous direction in which the US is being driven by the progressives in both parties, then you are one of three things, a degenerate moocher who likes getting free stuff that others earned, a self-anointed elitist who wants to control the lives of others, or simply a mental defective who doesn't have the sense God gave a guinea pig(one of the dumbest animals on Earth) and you are content to watch Idol and Housewives while being taken along by whatever forces are at work around you. BOB HOWARD IS THE MAN!!!!!!! Without question this Alabama born marine was one fine American. He died on December 24. 2009. Cancer finally took a man that his enemies could not. Bob fought in the Vietnam War. He was nominated for the Medal Of Honor 3 times (an individual can only win it once , he won the first time). He won many purple hearts, silver and bronze stars. He is a true American hero. His heroic acts are portrayed throughout the media and now, we as civilians need to take a moment and thank God for a man that loved his employer, and fought to keep us all free. In case you didn't realize it, the only musicians that don't hold their genitals on national TV are the country music stars. They aren't yet contributing to the debasement of polite society. Except for the country acts, last night's show was entirely unwatchable.

But the new clientele is quite a bit younger: 3- and 4-year-olds whose parents hope that a little assistance — costing upward of $1,000 for several sessions — will help them win coveted spots in the city’s gifted and talented public kindergarten classes.

Motivated by a recession putting private schools out of reach and concern about the state of regular public education, parents — some wealthy, some not — are signing up at companies like Bright Kids NYC. Bright Kids, which opened this spring in the financial district, has some 200 students receiving tutoring, most of them for the gifted exams, for up to $145 a session and 80 children on a waiting list for a weekend “boot camp” program.

How incompetent as a parent do you have to be to not have prepared your 4 year old for kindergarten such that, you must hire a tutor so your dumb kid can fake the aptitude required to earn a coveted spot at the right school. IT'S KINDERGARTEN, IDIOTS!

This is what kindergarten is for, not solving simultaneous linear equations.

The Pledge of Allegiance and gay rights

What ever you think about the Pledge of Allegiance and what it means in terms of gay rights, you have to give this kid props for standing up(or sitting down as it were) for what he believes.....

Whether you agree with him or not on gay marriage, I defy you to name for me one person, ever, under the age of 21, who has bothered to analyze the Pledge, managed to form a coherent thought on it's meaning and, then apply it to his life....I defy you!

Just so you know my position on gay marriage lest you make assumptions based on my other positions. When it comes to social or cultural questions, I defer to our constitutional guarantee to "pursue happiness". As long as your pursuit of happiness doesn't break the law or in any way impede my pursuit of it, then I couldn't care less how you define and pursue happiness. Look, nobody has made a bigger mockery of the institution of marriage than us heterosexuals. To save my life I can't come up with a way that gays could do any worse.

Columbus Day spin, in dreadful public schools

Public schools aren't exactly celebrating the "discovery" of America by Christopher Columbus as they did when we were kids....

But the picture isn't all roses and rainbows. "I talk about the situation where he didn't even realize where he was," Kolowith said. "And we talked about how he was very, very mean, very bossy."

Native American and Eskimo populations whine regularly about, "How could Columbus discover America when there were people already here"? My answer to that is if it weren't for western-Europeans discovering and developing the new world, it would still be a God-forsaken wilderness full of alcoholic, self-involved illiterates who contribute little or nothing to the evolution of modern man....or, much like Canada today.

What the public-school educrats intentionally omit, is the reason Columbus was sailing west in the first place. He was trying to find new trade routes to the eastern spice and textile markets in Asia and India. You see, the Muslims had looted, pillaged, and raped their way to occupying Constantinople, Turkey(now Istanbul), through which European textile traders had to travel. But you won't hear any teachers talking about the murdering Muslims disrupting commerce over an entire continent.

The reason Native Americans are called Indians is because Columbus mistakenly thought he had found India so, naturally he named the half-naked savages he found here, Indians.

This is just another in a long line of examples of white, liberal guilt for being American. Obama has been apologizing for America for almost a year but, liberal teachers have been doing it to our kids for decades. No wonder our kids grow up thinking America is a bad place, that's exactly what guilty liberals want them to think.

When perceived through the squinty, eyes of snooty, old-Europeans, America is a proletarian wasteland where culture and sophistication come to die. That's why it's funny that the epitome of working class America, McDonald's, is opening a store IN the Louvre.....heh, heh.....

Lovers of France's two great symbols of cultural exception – its haute cuisine and fine art – are aghast at plans to open a McDonald's restaurant and McCafé in the Louvre museum next month.

"This is the last straw," said one art historian working at the Louvre, who declined to be named. "This is the pinnacle of exhausting consumerism, deficient gastronomy and very unpleasant odours in the context of a museum," he told the Daily Telegraph.

Didier Rykner, head of The Art Tribune website found the idea "shocking".

While French elite whine about the encroachment of the symbol of America's wretched vulgarity, their country is being overrun by Muslim zealots. Once Sharia Law is established in about 25 years, the Muslims will surely raze the Louvre altogether. The irony will come when the French cry to America to save their country from the mean Muslims. I guess they'll be loving those Big Macs then.

Hollywood circles the wagons on Polanski's behalf

UPDATE on the Hollywood defense being mounted on behalf of the degenerate child molester, Roman Polanski. In case you don't know, he's a famous Hollywood director who, in 1978, drugged and repeatedly molested a 13 year old girl, whom he was photographing in Jack Nicholson's house. Polanski was 44 at the time.

You may also remember that Sharon Tate, who was murdered by the Manson gang, was Polanski's pregnant wife at the time of her murder.

Today, Sharon's sister, is claiming that the rape by Polanski of the 13 year old was actually consensual sex. I assume she said this with a straight face. But a 13 year old cannot consent to anything, certainly not to having sex with a dirty, old pervert. To Hollywood reprobates, any, and I mean ANY kind of sex is not only OK but, encouraged, especially if you're a depraved, tortured artist. The more perverted and disgusting your sex acts, the more artistic you become in their eyes. One need look no further than prime-time TV to see that anonymous hookups, infidelity, and children having sex is all the rage in Hollywood.

Look for more shameless celebrities to argue against the extradition of Polanski from Switzerland, to face sentencing for his crimes, on the grounds that he's a talented artist and should be given special latitude given his cinematic contributions, kind of the way the media gave Ted Kennedy special latitude regarding the death of Mary Jo Kopechne, because of his support of health-care reform.

Stupid, depraved liberals....I swear!
