“The American people will never knowingly adopt Socialism. But under the name of ‘liberalism’ they will adopt every fragment of the Socialist program, until one day America will be a Socialist nation, without knowing how it happened.”

EBT parasites virtually loot two Wal-Mart stores

In Mansfield, Louisiana over the weekend, the Xerox company, which manages that state's EBT card program, had a glitch which essentially removed any limits on the amount indigent shoppers could put on their tax-payer funded goody-bag cards. Obviously, when derelicts are given unlimited access to other peoples' stuff, they grab as much as they can. Like piranhas, shoppers stripped two different Wal-Mart stores bare in minutes before workers figured out what was happening.

When the stores did call the government hotline, they were told to let the shoppers use the cards anyway. That's just great!

But the government doesn't care how much of our money these parasites spend, as long as they can reliably get the media to blame the mistake on republicans....and the treacherous media doesn't need much convincing to do that.

I think we have a problem in this country.

Actually it was Wal-Mart management that made the decision to honor the cards without limit. They expected that someone other than themselves would be left holding the bag (the exact same mentality as the "derelicts'".

The joke is on Wal-Mart, however. They are going to have to eat the difference between what was the remaining balance on each card and what the customers actually purchased.

I shop at Wal-Mart but I am glad to see their greed get what is coming to it.

How is WalMart greedy? They provide reasonable quality at greatly reduced prices, thereby allowing poor people to afford things they otherwise could not.....and all without unions.

As soon as the unions get in Walmart, the prices will necessarily skyrocket and poor people will be left without inexpensive food, clothes, medicine, and flat-screen TV's. ;-)

"How is WalMart greedy?"

Pay attention, Ed; there is going to be a test.

Wal-Mart's greed was in allowing UNLIMITED purchases to EBT-using customers, knowing that these customers have very specific limits on their EBT spending, and hoping to stick someone else with the tab.

I may have to agree with Isaac on this one however I suspect Wal-Mart's behavior was "guided" by indifference more than greed. It takes time, energy, and ethics to do the right thing. Some cannot (or will not) climb that hill.

p.s. More often than not, indifference is the seductive path of least resistance. I see this everyday.

As a point of interest, 20% of De Soto Parish, LA residents are in the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (S.N.A.P.) and get, on average, $126 per month.

The largest De Soto Parish racial/ethnic groups are White (56.6%) followed by Black (39.0%) and Hispanic (2.5%).

What does race have to do with being a free-loader?

Nothing. Did someone suggest that it did?

You did as your "point of interest" in the comment above. I believe your point was that though the pictures are of black food-stamp recipients, the racial make-up of free-loaders in Louisana is not all black.

Isaac A. Nussbaum said...

"I believe your point was...."

Not at all. I don't have any idea what the racial makeup of food stamp recipients there is. The statistics recited are for the parish as a whole.

So not belabor a point, but if pointing out race wasn't your intention, why point out race?
