“The American people will never knowingly adopt Socialism. But under the name of ‘liberalism’ they will adopt every fragment of the Socialist program, until one day America will be a Socialist nation, without knowing how it happened.”

Socialist Party presidential candidate Norman Thomas

Buffoons with guns and oil, are still dangerous

In response to the existence of NATO(North Atlantic Treaty Organization) two of the world's most vile, extremist dictators are making a pact, on behalf of their respective countries, to form the South Atlantic Treaty Organization. The only problem is that Qaddafi's Libya and Chavez's Venezuela are both above the equator and neither is anywhere near the South Atlantic....morons!

I'm still laughing at them but, it would be far funnier if they didn't harbor such hatred of the West and particularly the US. And though both are comically imbecilic, they wish great harm to America and our allies. I'd like to take them less seriously, for the comedy alone but, they pose a serious threat to world stability.

Obama's willful, useful-idiot status

By glad-handing and graciously accepting that book, Obama allowed himself to be played by thug dictator Hugo Chavez....

In front of photographers, Chavez gave Obama a copy of "The Open Veins of Latin America: Five Centuries of the Pillage of a Continent," a book by Eduardo Galeano, which chronicles U.S. and European economic and political interference in the region.

This is a virulently anti-American book and by accepting it without comment, Obama opened the door for Chavez to brag to all of Latin America about how he confronted the yankee, capitalist pig with evidence of America's history of evil influence there. I'll admit that Obama was taken off guard and had little choice but to stand and take the book but, at the earliest possible opportunity, after his handlers had told him what the book was, he should have denounced it as the cheap stunt that it was.

The comparisons to Jimmy Carter's philosophy of weakness and appeasement of hostile enemies is starting to ring true every time Obama fails to stand up to one of these guys. I'madinnerjacket, Kim Jong-Il, Castro, and now Chavez....is there a more evil collection of tyrants for Obama to coddle? America looks weak because of Obama's failure to stand up to these guys, even rhetorically. Look for them to see how far he can be pushed now that he's shown that he has no spine for confrontation.

Stupid is as stupid does

The people who negotiated with the Nork's and didn't see this coming were probably the same people who refused to allow merchant ships to arm themselves and didn't see piracy coming either...

TOKYO, April 14 -- Fuming at the U.N. Security Council for condemning its recent missile launch, North Korea said Tuesday it will restart its plutonium factory, junk all its disarmament agreements and "never participate" again in six-country nuclear negotiations.

Those crazed Norks do this every time. Here's their operational template:

1. terrorize world with very public attempts at nuclear weapons development
2. thumb nose at enraged international community
3. pretend to listen to six-nation negotiations
4. agree to halt weapons program in exchange for food, medicine, fuel, etc.
5. laugh at abject stupidity of American Presidents and media who keep falling for it, over and over and over
6. secretly proceed with weapons program
7. wait for next US President and begin at #1

Insanity, is doing the same things over and over and expecting a different result.

The Norks threaten the US military....heh, heh

With the launch of it's "communications satellite" looming, the US, South Korea, and Japan prepare by flexing their collective military muscle. With that in mind, check out this parody of a quote from the Norks....

"If the brigandish U.S. imperialists dare to infiltrate spy planes into our airspace to interfere with our peaceful satellite launch preparations, our revolutionary armed forces will mercilessly shoot them down,"

Now it might actually be a communications satellite, and not a transparently obvious weapons test like we suspect but, why do the Norks need a communications satellite when it's people are starving to the point of eating grass like animals? When you don't own telephones, radios, or TV's, why do you need a communications satellite?

I hope they do shoot something at our spy planes. It would be fun watching the gun-camera video clips of the destruction that follows on Youtube the next day.

Dear Leader......pushing up daisies soon?

North Korea's kooky, comically bizarre, but brutal dictator Kim Jong Il may have one foot in the grave and the other on a banana peel......

SEOUL, South Korea - There was no sign of Kim Jong Il at a closely watched parade Tuesday marking the 60th anniversary of North Korea's founding, as a U.S. intelligence report said he may have suffered a stroke.

A U.S. intelligence official said there is reason to believe Kim Jong Il, 66, is sick after he failed to show up at the national celebration. That official and another U.S. source spoke to The Associated Press on condition of anonymity.

"It does appear that Kim Jong-Il has suffered a health setback, potentially a stroke," an official told Reuters, speaking on condition of anonymity.

We can only hope.

This is the Nork's Dear Leader, waiting patiently for the Devil to finally come take him to hell. I'm sure his dressing for the occasion will be appreciated by the hosts of darkness.

Run infidels, run and hide!

WOW! The Iranian Special Forces are far better trained that I would have guessed. We infidels should cower in terror of the wrath of the Army of the all powerful and benevolent prophet Mohammed.....

Seriously? And we are to believe that Iran has one of the most powerful, well-equipped, highly trained, largest, standing armies in all the world? Remember, we were told the same thing about Iraq's Republican Guard in '91, and they folded like origami. I know a couple of Brownie troops who're tougher than Saddam's Republican Guard.

Look, I'm not in favor of invading Iran. I think that would be a disaster of epic proportions, though not militarily, just a PR disaster. The only valid reason to me for attacking Iran is if they attack Israel and Israel cannot repel them alone. That said, if our attack on Iran started at breakfast tomorrow, based on what I've seen in this clip, I'll be able to watch the highlights of our victory on FOXNews with dinner the same night, and still not miss the expanded coverage of the Tour de France at 10:00.

I think it's safe to direct our attention elsewhere, comforted in the knowledge that if and when Iran decides to act up, which they won't, but if they did, we would have no trouble at all dealing decisively with them in short order.

A Dodge Ram pick-up....jeeeeez!

Crime actually does pay if Bill Clinton is involved

Thanks to Bill Clinton and Maddy Albright, the extortion scheme of the Norks has paid off rather handsomely...

BEIJING - North Korea will provide a complete list of its nuclear programs and disable its facilities at its main reactor complex by Dec. 31, actions that will be overseen by a U.S.-led team, the six nations involved in disarmament talks said Wednesday.

Under a broad agreement reached in February, North Korea pledged to disable its nuclear programs in return for 1 million tons of heavy fuel oil or other assistance.

In addition, the statement reiterated the five other countries' commitment to deliver the fuel oil and other energy and economic assistance as spelled out in the February deal.

But for the Clinton's allowing the sale of nuclear technology to the Norks in exchange for bags of campaign cash, we wouldn't be in the position of caving in to the threats of lunatic dictator Kim Jong Il. Madeliene Albright basically went over there and in political terms, slept with the boy-dictator, fawning all over him like Ted Kennedy over a bottle of single malt Scotch. Now we have to give them whatever they want to keep them from becoming the next nuclear capable country.

Thanks a lot Bill.

Jimmy Carter's legacy of misery continues...

Think I'm just bloviating about Jimmy Carter being the absolute worst, disaster of a President in U.S. history? The ascendancy of Robert Mugabe, by far Africa's most brutal, murdering dictator and best friend of Jimmy, to the presidency of Zimbabwe is the direct result of Carter's nullification of free elections in what was known as Rhodesia. Read this and weep for the victims of Carter's meddling and support of Mugabe...

HARARE, Zimbabwe — Pets are being slaughtered for meat in shortage-stricken Zimbabwe and record numbers of animals have been surrendered to shelters or abandoned by owners no longer able to feed them, according to animal welfare groups.

One animal rights activist, who asked not to be named out of fear of arrest, called the situation "too ghastly for words.

Activists say they have been threatened with arrest for speaking out and SPCA offices were raided by secret police agents of the Central Intelligence Organization on Thursday. SPCA inspectors said they were ordered not to release details of surrendered, abandoned, slain or eaten pets.

In Zimbabwe's economic meltdown, meat, cornmeal, bread and other staples have vanished from shops and stores. A government order to slash prices of all goods and services in June worsened acute food shortages and has left stores virtually empty of basic foodstuffs.

The prices clampdown aimed to tame official inflation of more than 7,600 percent, the highest in the world. Independent estimates put real inflation closer to 25,000 percent and the International Monetary Fund has forecast it reaching 100,000 percent by the end of the year.

Zimbabwe used to be the bread-basket of Africa. It produced so much food that it exported most of it and fed dozens of other poor African nations. Then in 1980, thug, terrorist Robert Mugabe seized control of the country with the help of Jimmy Carter. Mugabe ordered the murder of tens of thousands of rival tribe members, the rapes of thousands of relatives of rival politicians, and the nationalization of all white owned farms(most were white-owned). He then gave the farms to his thug buddies who knew nothing of farming. Predictably, the food supply quickly ran out, and Zimbabwe was plunged into the abyss of starvation, genocide, and despair...all with the help of one man without whom, none of it would have happened....Jimmy Carter the lovable peanut-president.

Thanks to Jimmy Carter, Fido here is now on the menu for starving Zimbabweans.

Don't mess with the market

Restricting fuel consumption by imposing rations is about as economically stupid as mandating levels of ethanol usage when the consumers don't want it. You'd think Iranian president Achma-dinnerjacket would have learned this from the wholesale disaster that was the Carter administration...you'd be wrong...

TEHRAN (Reuters) - Angry Iranian motorists queued for gasoline on Wednesday hours after the world's fourth largest oil exporter imposed fuel rationing, sparking chaotic scenes and the torching of two pump stations in the capital.

Drivers raced to fill up their tanks late on Tuesday after the Oil Ministry announced the delayed scheme would finally go ahead at midnight after months of confusion and conflicting statements, forming lines that stretched hundreds of meters.

One fuel station in Pounak, a poorer area of the capital, was set alight while another in eastern Tehran was partially burnt, two of its pumps completely destroyed by fire, witnesses said.

Those who missed the midnight deadline still faced long lines early on Wednesday in a country where many see abundant and cheap fuel as a right, even after government in May hiked the liter price by 25 percent to 1,000 rials (11 U.S. cents).

Despite its huge energy reserves, Iran lacks refining capacity and must import about 40 percent of its gasoline, a sensitive issue when world powers have threatened new U.N. sanctions in a row with Tehran over its nuclear program.

I have two sentient observations to make: 1. if gas is not plentiful, the prices will go up naturally and the consumption will therefore decrease as desired. The government doesn't need to meddle with a system(supply, demand, price) that works perfectly every time. 2. What is it about the cultures of certain groups of people that compels them to react to disappointment with violence? They are trashing their own neighborhoods for heaven's sake.

Pootie poot makes Bush look like a chump

Pootie Poot is a first-class communist jerk, but at the G8 summit, he made Bush look like a warmonger by comparison. In a previous post which you can read here, I talked about the possibility of another arms race between the U.S. and Russia concerning our missile defense shields in Europe, ostensibly to protect the EU from Iran's nukes. Here's Pootie trumping Bush in front of the whole world...

HEILIGENDAMM, Germany (AP) - Russia's President Vladimir Putin said Friday that U.S. missile defense interceptors could be located in Turkey, or even Iraq or on sea platforms, offering yet another alternative to an American plan for a missile shield in eastern Europe.
"They could be placed in the south, in U.S. NATO allies such as Turkey, or even Iraq," Putin said at a news conference after the close of the Group of Eight summit. "They could also be placed on sea platforms."

Putin has a point. If we are pretending to defend Europe against Islamic missile attacks then why don't we put the shields closer to those Islamic nations that we believe threaten the EU? Why put them in Eastern Europe if it's radical Islam, and not the Russians, we want to protect against? What Putin did was paint Bush into a corner by offering a better idea than Bush's. That Bush's handlers didn't see that coming is a testament that they need to go.

Is it just me or are all of you sick and tired of George W. Bush screwing up in everything he does? Immigration, the budget, foreign relations, the war on terrorists, social security and tax reform, all were ripe opportunities for meaningful policy initiatives that the Bush administration royally botched.

Is '08 here yet?

Deja Vu all over again

On their way out of office, Putie Poot and Bush start what looks like a new Cold War...

Europe should not become "powder keg" - Putin

MOSCOW. May 29 (Interfax) - Russian President Vladimir Putin has cautioned against turning Europe into a "powder keg", referring to Washington's plans to deploy elements of its missile defense system in Europe.

"We consider it harmful and dangerous to turn Europe into a "powder keg" and to fill it with new kinds of weapons," Putin told a news conference after talks with the Portuguese prime minister in Moscow.

"It creates new unneeded risks for the entire system of international and European relations," he said.

Of course, Putin declined to comment on Russia's new MIRV (Multiple Independently-targeted Re-entry Vehicle) which will be deployed in or near the former Eastern-bloc nations, and undoubtedly aimed at Europe and the U.S.

The vet in me says cool, our military needs a modern foe against which we can develop modern weaponry. As opposed to fighting 17th century barbarians in dirty night-shirts in Iraq. The pragmatist in me says we have our hands full fighting 17th century barbarians in dirty night-shirts and we don't need another Cold War just yet.

Here's Putie Poot. Why is Russia building new offensive nuclear weapons when his country is in rapid, suicidal social and economic decline?

Lurch gets one right

Even a ketchup heiress's gigolo/Senator can do something useful for his country once in a while...

Sen. John Kerry on Thursday called for an investigation into security weaknesses in the Defense Department's surplus sales that have let buyers for Iran and China acquire aircraft parts and other valuable military gear.

The Massachusetts Democrat sought an inquiry by the Senate Foreign Relations Committee after The Associated Press reported that in several instances middlemen for the countries had exploited security flaws to acquire sensitive surplus.

Good for John Kerry. I hope he gets to the bottom of the security flaws and stops this kind of thing.

See, even we here at TheRightRant will give a loathsome Democrat like John Kerry credit when he does something positive for his country.

Trouble in the big pond

Heads will roll for this goof...

A Chinese submarine stalked a U.S. aircraft carrier battle group in the Pacific last month and surfaced within firing range of its torpedoes and missiles before being detected.

How in the world does a Chinese sub sneak up on a state-of-the-art aircraft carrier? Surely we had our radar turned on! There is no reasonable explanation for a potential, enemy air or water craft getting within weapons range of a US aircraft carrier. Whoever ignored that curious blip-blip on the radar screen should be drummed out of the service entirely...unbelievable!

The Norks get a spanking from daddy

Looks like Kim Jong Il got his chain yanked...

TOKYO (AP) - North Korean leader Kim Jong Il told a Chinese envoy his regime has no immediate plans to carry out another nuclear test but whether it will do so in the future depends on U.S. policy toward his country, a news report said Sunday.

The Norks decided not to test another newkular weapon this week after all. I don't think it has anything to do with the possibility of the U.S.'s concession to their demands of massive aid for the NoKo people. Bush hasn't indicated a willingness in that direction in any way. The Bush doctrine is spot-on, disarmament first, then talks.

Most agree that China is the key to all this. NoKo practically exists at the pleasure of the Chinese. Certainly the Chinese fear economic consequences and international condemnation if they don't rein in the pot-bellied, dog-eating dictator. I think Hu Jintao figured rightly that friendly trading relations with the U.S., and the rest of the free world, is worth more than supporting the crazy Norks. In addition, Japan and SoKo, to whom Jong Il has been openly hostile, hinted at the possibility of going nuclear if Jong Il was allowed to pursue weapons. The last thing the Chinese want is a nuclearized East Asia.

Look at this picture. Jong Il looks like an 8 year old, embarassed that he just had his fanny spanked by somebody...that somebody was China.

This is really eye-opening!

I posted this back in June but with all that is going on with North Korea lately, I thought I would put this link back up...it's really interesting. Take a few minutes and check it out.

I came across this site this afternoon. From what I can tell, it's the photographic account of a Russian national on holiday in North Korea. Not much of a holiday, but I would love to go there with a camera. As you can tell by his captions, most of the photographs would have been otherwise prohibited but he managed to get lots anyway.

http://www.militaryphotos.net/forums/showthread.php?t=82755

Check it out. There are about 8-9 pages of photographs of the most depressing place you can ever imagine living. One caption accurately describes N.K. as being a perfect copy of the 1950's and it's right. That's how backward and behind this country is. The best thing that could ever happen to this God-forsaken, waste-land of humanity, culture, inspiration, hope, and progress is somebody should overthrow Kim Jong Il...this country is totally decimated and is surely on the verge of totol collapse. It's nothing but a shell of a society. You can see the bleak hopelessness and despair on the faces and even in the postures of the people in the pictures.

I knew it was bad over there but these pictures give you a whole new appreciation of the freedoms we enjoy here.

Taking care of business

The Japanese aren't waiting around for the U.N. to ride to the rescue...

TOKYO (AP) - Saying the country was "in gravest danger," Japan ordered a total ban on North Korean imports late Wednesday and declared that ships from the impoverished nation were prohibited from entering Japanese ports as punishment for its apparent nuclear test.
North Korean nationals are also prohibited from entering Japan, with limited exceptions, the Cabinet Office said in a statement released after an emergency security meeting.
Twenty-four North Korea-registered trade ships were moored at Japanese ports as of Wednesday afternoon, according to public broadcaster NHK. Local traders were already refusing to unload shipments to protest the alleged test, and the boats were expected to be ordered out, NHK said.
"Japan is in gravest danger, if we consider that North Korea has advanced both its missile and nuclear capabilities," Prime Minister Shinzo Abe told reporters following the meeting.
"We cannot tolerate North Korea's actions if we are to protect Japanese lives and property," he said. "These measures were taken to protect the peace."
Abe added the government will swiftly implement the measures, which were to be formally approved by the Cabinet on Friday.

I don't blame them. The crazy Norks are in their back yard. China isn't going to do anything because they know if life gets any tougher in NoKo, there will be a flood of millions of refugees trying to get into China. SoKo isn't going to do anything, the NoKo army could easily overrun the SoKo's across the DMZ. Russia isn't going to do anything, Pootie Poot is busy killing off his critics in the media. What's the incompetent U.N. going to do...threaten NoKo with a harshly worded rebuke? The U.S. isn't going to do anything either. We're not even sure he detonated a nuke...it may have just been a really big pile of TNT designed to feel like a nuke to the seismic sensors. The Japanese are sitting right there within easy missile range of NoKo and feeling very vulnerabe right about now.

I saw them on the news this morning flying the stew out of their F-15's...just in case. It just occured to me, Japan hasn't been in a shooting war since WWII has it? I'm not pulling for war but I'd like to see the Japanese in action...just to see what they've got.

Foiled again!

The Democrats have to be hating this news...

UNITED NATIONS (AP) - Members of the U.N. Security Council condemned North Korea's claim of a nuclear test and demanded during an emergency meeting Monday that it return to six-party talks on its weapons program, Japan's U.N. ambassador said.

The Security Council will now discuss "appropriate measures" to respond to the test, which was a threat to international peace and security, Ambassador Kenzo Oshima said. President Bush said North Korea has "defied the will of the international community," and that the action "deserves an immediate response" by the U.N. Security Council.

There were conflicting reports on the size of the blast in northeast North Korea. South Korea said it was relatively small, while Russia said it had been perhaps as powerful as the nuclear bombs the U.S. dropped on Japan during World War II.

The explosion prompted worldwide concern it could seriously destabilize the region, and even Pyongyang's ally China said it strongly opposed the move. South Korea's spy chief said there were possible indications the North was moving to conduct more tests.

Congressional democrats and Bush-loathing liberals(but I repeat myself) have been salivating at the prospect of regaining power in the wake of the Mark Foley page scandal. SanFranNan Pelosi has even been making statements pondering the need of a woman to run things in Washington to straighten things out. Now, the freaky gargoyle in North Korea, Kim Jong-ll, has allegedly tested a nuclear weapon underground and focused the attention of the world across the Pacific, making the creepy congressman/ gay page scandal seem sort of silly by comparison.

Moreover, Bush now has a golden opportunity to lead the free world in doing whatever is appropriate in dealing with NoKo. (As I write this, the U.N. security council is meeting in emergency session.) If Bush can demonstrate compellingly to the American electorate that the world is a dangerous place, that we are at risk from multiple evils, and that Republicans can be trusted to keep us safe, and by virtue of the fact that the Democrats will not be able to help themselves in criticizing whatever Bush does, Americans will see their inability and unwillingness to deal harshly with threats to the U.S. That'll play well into the hands of republicans in November.

Next on Pay-per-View...

In a New York minute...I would pay cash money to watch this...

Iran's President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad repeating his previous remark that "those who reject debate fear their nation's intellect and rationalism", emphasized here on Wednesday, "We are ready for a debate with the Americans at UN General Assembly." According to the Presidential Office Media Department, Ahmadinejad made the comments at Wednesday session of his cabinet, further reiterating, "The American side can even take part in the debate side by side with his advisors, and as a full team, if they wish so." Referring to his upcoming US visit to take part at the United Nations General Assembly meeting in New York, The IRI President considered that occasion as a good opportunity for holding a debate, with his US counterpart, so that "the entire world nations, particularly the Americans would, directly and without any censorship watch it."

Of course I know that this will never happen, nor should it. President Bush debating a raving, Islamofascist lunatic in front of the hostile UN would be a no-win, unmitigated disaster for Bush but what a spectacle it would be!

Debating terrorists is not much different than negotiating with them. It would give him legitimacy. Of course, the nuclear weapon they will soon have gives him a certain degree of legitimacy too, in the sense that he would then have to be taken much more seriously.

When Hugo Chavez and Mahmoud Ahmadinejad address the UN General Assembly, to huge applause no doubt, would somebody please convince me why we host this idiotic, utterly corrupt, and freedom-hating institution which has never accomplished one single thing of importance internationally.

I wish for just once an American politician would stand up and call a spade a spade when it comes to the useless UN. Sadly our politicians have bought into the whole PC, global community nonsense. For that reason we'll have to endure our main stream media fawning all over these two despots as if they were Hollywood celebrities. The liberal's embracing of foreign leaders who very publically hate America sickens me...and I will not watch or support it.

Trouble in the cat box...

This situation could get real bad, real fast...

Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, if he ever became the supreme decision maker in his country, would "sacrifice half of Iran for the sake of eliminating Israel," Giora Eiland, Israel's former national security adviser, told The Jerusalem Post on Thursday.

The 49-year-old Iranian president, he said, "has a religious conviction that Israel's demise is essential to the restoration of Muslim glory, that the Zionist thorn in the heart of the Islamic nations must be removed. And he will pay almost any price to right the perceived historic wrong. If he becomes the supreme leader and has a nuclear capability, that's a real threat."

This nutcase should be careful stating that he would be willing to sacrifice half of his own country, Iran, to destroy Israel. Israel might just give him the chance. There is no way Israel would or should, let Iran complete the process of building a deliverable nuclear weapon, given the direct threats he has voiced toward the destruction of Israel. The fact that he's a religious zealot means, in international diplomatic terms, that he is willing to do the unthinkable in the name of Islam. Mamoud Ahmadinejad is nothing more than a terrorist with credentials...which is the most dangerous kind.

Israelis admitting this week that they were tired of war and tired of defending themselves will be viewed by the Arab street as weakness and vulnerability. Iran is stalling for time by agreeing to talks about it's nuclear program. It is a very real possibility that if allowed to produce a weapon, they will use it. There is no evidence to suggest that they won't. Only Israel can stop it and they certainly should.
