White house "outs" CIA station chief in Afghanistan

Over the weekend, the white house sent out a briefing e-mail to like 300 reporters. It inadvertently contained the name of the CIA station chief in Afghanistan, probably the most dangerous CIA job in the world right now, and clearly putting the guy's life in real danger. The administration quickly backtracked by redacting the name and title of the guy and re-released the e-mail.....they trust the always ethical and responsible members of the press to be discreet and not publish the information.

Scooter Libby and Judith Miller did jail time(each for different reasons entirely) for Valerie Plame being outed. But she was just a desk jockey in Virginia somewhere and only covert on paper. There's been real damage done here.

I'll be sitting on the edge of my seat waiting for the white house to insist on the prosecution of the person responsible for this.

  1. Not the real Dick CheneyTue May 27, 05:55:00 PM CDT

Don't forget Scooter Libby was caught up in an out of control special prosecutor investigation and was not the one who outed the glamorous Valerie. George W Bush should have instantly pardoned him and it's to his discredit that he only commuted his sentence.

  2. I couldn't agree more Dick. Why Bush let Libby suffer for one day is an embarrassment. And I believe it cost Libby's family a ton to pay the lawyers to defend him.
