Lisa Murkowski's last-ditch effort to stay employed

Unless you've been tweeking crystal meth. or playing Farmville on Facebook for the past two days, you've probably heard about the judges ruling in Alaska, on behalf of a Lisa Murkowski supporter, which says that polling places must provide voters with the names of all registered write-in candidates. The Murkowski camp was afraid that Alaskans couldn't remember how to spell "Murkowski" thus voiding their votes.

Hilariously, as a result of this ruling, hundreds of Alaskans have registered as write-in candidates, probably many with names resembling the spelling of Murkowski's. Now the polling places have to provide a confusing, pages-long list of all write-in candidates' names from which voters can choose. In her craven determination to retain that which she believes she is rightfully entitled, she may have cost herself what little shot she actually had at getting it.

If you're hooked on Farmville, you might be an idiot

Pat over at Belchspeak already posted about this today but I think it bears repeating.....because Farmville is so stupid!

Alexandra V. Tobias, 22, was arrested after the January death of 3-month-old Dylan Lee Edmondson. She told investigators she became angry because the baby was crying while she was playing a computer game called FarmVille on the Facebook social-networking website.

Are your Facebook friends so boring and your life so lacking in interesting content that you have to immerse yourself in a make-believe farm? Seriously? Get off the stupid computer for a minute and go live life so you'll have something to talk about on Facebook rather than this idiotic, contrived, imaginary life. Morons!

From Online.WSJ -- Former President Bill Clinton tried to persuade Florida Democratic Rep. Kendrick Meek to drop out of his U.S. Senate race and support Gov. Charlie Crist's independent candidacy in hopes of thwarting a victory by Republican Marco Rubio.

Democrats know that if conservative Marco Rubio gets a national stage for the next six years, he'll likely be the GOP candidate for President. Ordinarily that would make him just another republican to be smeared and besmirched. But Marco Rubio is Hispanic. The last thing democrats want is for any significant, voting minority to get the crazy idea that maybe conservatism is in their best interests. Democrats can count on the obedient black vote and for now, the Hispanic vote, and mostly the women vote, so for a black, Hispanic, or woman to succeed as a conservative spells future electoral trouble for democrats.

Clinton thought he could nip Rubio's meteoric political rise in the bud by getting democrat Kendrick Meek to drop out of the Florida senate race, ostensibly throwing his 15% support to yellow turncoat Charlie Crist. That would win the senate seat for liberals and effectively stop Rubio's political career in it's tracks. But since Meek decided not to step aside for Crist, democrats' plan-B is to out Meek as a horrible candidate with no chance of winning. The thinking is that his supporters will want to get behind a winner and go ahead and be convinced to vote for Crist even if Meek remains on the ballot.

This is election-year politicking at it's worst, but two can play that game. Somebody should make a statement about the democrats trying to get a black man to step down to make way for a white/orange man. That ought to gin up the black voters in Florida to not vote for Crist.

Joe Biden gives us a glimpse at the heart of a statist

Really Joe? Except for nuclear weapons, the Hoover Dam, and possibly the World Wide Web, I can't think of a single noteworthy accomplishment or good idea that came from government....ever. Did government invent the microwave oven, the cotton gin, the light bulb, the internal combustion engine, or ice-cream sandwiches? Like 99.99% of all innovation, these ideas came about from private enterprise. And by private enterprise I mean individuals working in their own self interests creating things to make money for themselves and their families....or as you dumb statists like to call it, greed.

When free men are unencumbered by onerous, tyrannical government, through their self-interested pursuit of profit, they improve the lives of everyone with their ideas, innovations, and inventions.

The Chinese are advancing technologically faster than any other nation, but there's a simple explanation and it's not that they're better at math.....

From CNBC -- A Chinese scientific research center has built the fastest supercomputer ever made, replacing the United States as maker of the swiftest machine, and giving China bragging rights as a technology superpower.

The computer, known as Tianhe-1A, has 1.4 times the horsepower of the current top computer, which is at a national laboratory in Tennessee, as measured by the standard test used to gauge how well the systems handle mathematical calculations, said Jack Dongarra, a University of Tennessee computer scientist who maintains the official supercomputer rankings.

The Chinese machine is nothing more than a larger copy of the Roadrunner at IBM, the current fastest computer(pictured above). Pirating, cheating, and stealing is how the Chinese have gained so much ground on the US in the areas of science and technology. They simply steal our inventions and innovations, pour billions of dollars, most of it ironically is ours, into copying it, then they improve it slightly in scale, then claim they've "invented" something better than ours.

They steal our communication technology, our DVD movie and CD technology, our military technology and then pat themselves on the back and brag what great innovators their scientists are when they are little more than clever thieves.

The inevitable decline of America

Regular TRR reader David sent in a link to this article in AmericanThinker, which supposes that the outcome of the midterm elections amounts to little more than a brief pit stop on the path of inevitable decline and collapse down which America is rushing. Here's an excerpt....[emphasis mine]

Pretty powerful stuff. Take a minute and click on the link and read the article as you reflect on where American came from and where we're going. Maybe you agree that America is a lost cause already and there's no stopping it. Certainly the forces of moral decay, liberalism, and degeneracy are powerful and many, including Alexander Tyler, have predicted that free people will always tend toward selfishness, apathy, and dependence along the cycle of democracies only to end up under the boot of tyranny once again. Is that where America is headed or can she be rescued?

Charlie Sheen just being Charlie Harper

I'm sure you've heard about Charlie Sheen's most recent arrest for trashing a room at the Plaza Hotel in NYC. He was cavorting with a prostitute who apparently got angry at him for some reason. Clearly this will only boost viewership of his TV show.

Sheen is the highest paid actor on TV, raking in $2million per episode to essentially play himself in real life.

That buys a lot of prostitutes. You'd think he could hire one that doesn't throw stuff at him.

Obama's science advisor is loony tunes

Obama's radical leftist science advisor has said some stupid things to earn him a spot on team-Obama. Among them are that forced abortions and mass sterilization of undesirables is needed to control Earth's population, new born babies aren't fully human, and that anthropomorphic climate change is real. Now he's advising the white house that it needs to prepare for a killer asteroid to hit Earth....

When the midterms are over, blood runs red in the streets, and the democrats are burying their dead, Obama will kick off a 10 day working vacation as far away as he can get from the electoral carnage. One of his stops will be in India where he'll address, and by "address" I mean "read to", the 780 member Indian parliament. And for the first time ever, a teleprompter will be used in the chamber. How embarrassing!

Obama will take the help of a teleprompter to deliver his address to the 780-odd members of Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha, sources said…

Obama’s reliance on the teleprompter is unusual–not only because he is famous for his oratory, but because no other president has used one so consistently and at so many events, large and small.

Teleprompters are textbook-sized panes of glass holding the prepared remarks of the speaker and which rests on top of a tall, narrow pole and flank his podium during speeches.

The Indian newspapers are having to explain what a teleprompter is because they've never seen a politician pretend to be speaking when he's actually reading. India is the largest democracy in the world and Obama doesn't even have respect enough to memorize a simple speech? If the Indian people weren't disillusioned before, they sure will be when they realize The One is a phony douche, and not the charismatic superman he likes to think he is.

Just like in the Wizard of Oz, the man behind the curtain will be revealed, or the teleprompter behind the President as it were, and Obama will be shown to be the shallow but telegenic, empty suit we here in America have known he was all along.
