If you are a science fiction nerd like me, then surely you've read Ender's Game, by Orson Scott Card. It resonated with many kids because the story is as much about the social isolation that comes from being smarter than everybody else as it is a futuristic sci-fi yarn. Well, finally they decided to make a movie out of it and it comes out later this year......
I hope they manage to stick to the point of the book and stay true to the sub-plot about a kid being marginalized and resented because he's always the smartest one in the room, and don't just make an empty action flick.
Based on your mention of the book, Ed, I checked Ender's Game out of the library and am about two-thirds of the way through it. I love it! I'm glad you blogged about it.
