The GOP seriously needs to increase the size if its tent by including the only minority who actually wants to be included, gays. Whether accurate or not, the perception is that conservatives are hostile to gays, but it's only because of their lifestyles. Many gays I know are as conservative as I am, and I'm slightly to the right of Attila the Hun. The conservatives at CPAC need to reach out to the Log Cabin Republicans and GOPround folks and show that we don't care what your orientation is, just be fiscally conservative and in favor of small government......
From NBCnews -- GOProud, a Republican gay-rights group, is still not officially invited to attend CPAC, next week's conservative conference in the D.C. area -- but it will be on site.
Jimmy LaSalvia, GOProud's co-founder and executive director, will be participating in a panel happening at the same time as CPAC, in the same building as CPAC, sponsored by one of the same hosts of CPAC.
I sincerely hope for the future of America that the GOP decides to move toward the libertarian wing of the party and I think it will as the old guard dinosaurs like McCain and Graham retire and are replaced by more libertarian thinkers like Rand Paul and Ted Cruz. I don't know what those guys' stands are on gay marriage and all that, but they'd be stupid not to welcome any conservatives into the fold via an equal seat at the CPAC table, regardless of sexual orientation.
