Giant bobcats in Georgia

This picture was taken in my hometown of Carrollton, Georgia. It's a giant bobcat and apparently spottings in that part of the state are on the rise. I thought bobcats were more or less nocturnal hunters which is why you never see them. Look at the size of this animal. There aren't many dogs he couldn't kill. I'd hate to run across him while taking the trash can down to the street after dark.

A few years ago my school, State University of West Georgia, changed it's name from the politically incorrect "Braves" to the boring West Georgia Wolves, but maybe we should actually be the West Georgia Bobcats, I mean since there are no wolves in Georgia.

  1. They say there are coyotes here where I live but I've never seen one. Rumor has it a few housecoats have disappeared.

  2. Heh heh..."housecoats"? Are they making winter wear out of cats now in Georgia?

  3. I thought they had changed the name from State University of West Georgia to University of West Georgia. Pundits rapidly caught the acronym SUWG--or sewage if you will. Just thought you might like to knwow

  4. Did they? I hadn't heard. SUWG was a mouthful and UWG, though unappealing, is better.

  9. I have seen a dead coyote before (I think it was hit by a car) and have seen bobcats in my neighborhood. I live in Douglasville, so I can only imagine that there are even more bobcats and coyotes in Carrollton.
