RMS Titanic: metaphor for US economy

Today marks the 99th anniversary of the ironic sinking of the Titanic after her crew bragged that she was unsinkable. This cavalier attitude is embodied in Pres. Obama's belief that no amount of government taxing and spending can sink the US economy. How wrong he is! We've almost reached the limit of how much money can be siphoned out of the economy in order to pay for wasteful and needless bureaucrats by the tens of thousands to push pencils pointlessly around their desks in DC.

Unless we dramatically reform Social Security, Medicare, and Medicaid, plus get out of our three wars in the middle east, the "titanic" US economy that every body thinks is unsinkable is headed straight for the iceberg of insolvency. How's that for a metaphor?

  2. You're right, I'd better change that. Somebody on the radio this morning said it was the 100th.
