So the reigning Miss Universe, Dayana Mendoza, visited Club Gitmo as part of the USO tour. And she wrote about it on her Facebook page. Here are a couple of interesting exerpts....
This week, Guantánamo!!! It was an incredible experience.
...We visited the Detainees camps and we saw the jails, where they shower, how the recreate themselves with movies, classes of art, books. It was very interesting.
...I didn’t want to leave, it was such a relaxing place, so calm and beautiful.
Wait, according to our media, the detainees are being routinely tortured and treated as sub-humans. If regular movies, art classes, halal meals, complimentary prayer rugs and Korans, soccer, and library books in a sunny environment of relaxation and serenity are torture, my every-day life really, I mean really sucks! My vacations should be so nice and peaceful.
I wonder if she is holding her tiara 'cause her head is too small or because one of the detainees tried to snatch it. Either way, it is amazing when the truth gets through the filtering process. I wonder how her ride in the 1950- ish world of Cuba was as well!!
