This week marks the beginning of the near Constitutional crisis regarding the commerce clause in Article I and the principle of federalism described in the 10th Amendment. Law suits have been filed on behalf of many states including Virginia, Michigan, and Florida among others, by their respective attorneys general challenging the Obama administration's unprecedented power grab via the ominous health care bill.
For those of you who were baby sat in government schools while having your self esteem stroked, and therefor have no ability to think critically nor a working knowledge or understanding of the US Constitution, the 10th Amendment reads simply,
"The powers not delegated to the United States by the Constitution, nor prohibited by it to the States, are reserved to the States respectively, or to the people."
This is the essential part of the Constitution that limits the federal government from infringing on the states' rights of self governance in all things other than what's in the Constitution specifically. Without this, there is no limit at all to what the federal government can regulate and control. That's what at stake with this health-care monstrosity. If the courts allow the federal government to force, under threat of punishment, the purchase by private citizens of health care policies, then it can force us to do literally anything it fantasizes is in our best interest. And it will have set a dangerous precedent by centralizing power in Washington, having taken it away from the states.
Additionally, it mandates changes in medicare that will increase dramatically the cost to the states, hundreds of millions each, without the states' permission or agreement. The federal government by threat of force, is dictating to the states, commerce policy that is constitutionally reserved for the states to determine independently.
If you don't see the cliffs edge on which we are poised to fall and the danger to the republic if this health-care bill is allowed to stand, then you are either a dumb Obama voter with your hand out, or a hard-core, America-hating socialist who has nothing but contempt for the Constitution. Either way, that makes you a bad American and you should be ashamed.
“The American people will never knowingly adopt Socialism. But under the name of ‘liberalism’ they will adopt every fragment of the Socialist program, until one day America will be a Socialist nation, without knowing how it happened.”
Socialist Party presidential candidate Norman Thomas

Glad I'm not a roofer

Today here in B'ham, the heat index will reach 112 degrees. Of all the outside jobs you could have, roofing would be the worst on a day like this.
Hats off to roofers! If you see some guys working outside today and it's this hot where you live, go get them some bottled water or something. They'll appreciate it.

"They rapin' everybody out here"!!!
Just another day in the projects.....
First let me just say that I'm glad she didn't get raped. That said, I could listen to hours of angry, fed up locals being interviewed about crime in their neighborhood. It's must see TV. By the way, this happened just about 90 minutes north of where I live here in Alabama.
Thanks to NealBoortz.

Stubborn weather remains uncooperatively peaceful
Headline in the St. Petersburg Times -- Preseason hurricane forecasts could be scaled back, experts say
Heh heh....I don't know who's more disappointed in the fact that another hurricane season has so far been a complete and utter bust, the idiots who keep predicting it every year or the media who love nothing more than covering the death, looting, and cannibalism that naturally occur after a natural disaster.
What's the matter with these folks? They should be running for their lives....heh heh.

Google Earth.......Big Brother's eye in the sky

Turns out your private property isn't all that private after all....
From abcNews -- RIVERHEAD, N.Y. (AP) -- Some Long Islanders are in hot water --because of their backyard pools. The town of Riverhead, New York, is using Google Earth to find pools that don't have the proper permits.
Officials say satellite images revealed about 250 pools whose owners never filled out the required paperwork.
What's the point of owning property if you can't do what you want with it? The state and federal bureaucracy's ravenous lust for your money knows no ends and revenue-generating permits for otherwise private activities is justification enough for them to spy on your every move, then tax you on it.
Smarmy politicians will argue that it's for the general safety and welfare of the public but they write thousands of these draconian activity ordinances solely for the purpose of revenue generation. God forbid government at any level learned to do with a little less of other peoples' money to spend.
It's no body's business what you do in your back yard, especially the government's. Anyway, looking for illegal pools is just cover for what lecherous politicians are really up to....using Google Earth to leer at topless sunbathers.
The adolescent in chief
Chairman Zero clearly is the most casual of any President in history. He seems to take nothing seriously, especially in how he reflects the seriousness of his post and it's responsibilities. Gliding around with his shirt out, baggy jeans, and God-awful sandals? I realize he's on vacation but couldn't he bother to wear maybe a polo shirt tucked into a pair of khakis? When the press are around, he should try to remember that he's the President and not just another slouchy tourist.
This bedraggled bum is supposed to be the second coming of the Messiah? I think not.

Obama at the bat
If you've never heard of Ernest Thayer's Casey at the Bat, then you should probably return your head to the hole it's been in. Casey is easily the best known baseball poem of all time. Here is a version of it starring Barack Obama as Casey and of course Sarah Palin as the pitcher. Enjoy.....
Erin Andrews is an air-head
You may remember when some creepy dude used a pinhole camera through a peep-hole to recorded ESPN reporterette Erin Andrews engaging in some naked ironing and getting dressed in her hotel room. Erin's knee-jerk answer is for government to regulate the Internet. Jump to about 1:25 for the pertinent parts...
This creep committed a half dozen crimes before he posted the clip on the Web. Maybe that's where the effort at stopping this stuff should be directed, not at the Internet where if government gets involved in regulation and policing, it'll overreach as it always does and every Internet activity will end up being regulated by some smarmy bureaucrat with a political agenda.
This is like fighting the ridiculous war on drugs by harshly punishing the 16 year old kid who gets caught getting high one time. It makes no sense unless you think like Erin Andrews apparently does, that government can and should solve all of life's problems. This is a cop issue, not a regulatory issue.

Gibbs on Limbaugh
Hapless oaf Robert Gibbs attacked Rush Limbaugh for being against the auto-company bailouts thusly....
From WSJ -- “Look, Rush Limbaugh and others wanted to walk away. Rush Limbaugh and others saw a million people that worked at these factories, that worked at these parts suppliers, that had — that supported communities, and thought we should all just walk away. The president didn’t think that walking away from a million jobs in these communities made a lot of economic sense,” Gibbs said.
Well count me among those who wanted to walk away. The government doesn't have any business meddling in the free market where it chooses winners and losers based on political favoritism. Obama would have gladly walked away if those car companies had not been unionized and yearly, funneled millions in forcibly extracted union dues to democrat politicians. It wasn't about jobs, it was about rescuing union political support.
I said it before and I'll say it again, no company is too big to fail.

TRR Public Service Announcement
Don't let your teen end up like these two idiotsApparently the newest street drug with which moronic teens are trying to get high is a synthetic form of cannabinoid whose street names are Cobra, Triad, K2, or Spice. It's really just some dried herb-like flowers that are sprayed with a synthetic form of THC that you roll up and smoke, and may or may not give you a very weak, brief buzz, depending on who you ask.
What it most likely will do is what it does to lab rats, which is decrease your teen's body temperature, make him lazy(how can you tell, am I right parents?), and make his muscles rigid. Plus hundreds of teens have already ended up in the ER from smoking this artificial chemical. It's never been human tested and nobody knows what it's effects on the human brain might be.
I swear, is there any stupider sub-species in the galaxy than human teenagers trying to get high?
