“The American people will never knowingly adopt Socialism. But under the name of ‘liberalism’ they will adopt every fragment of the Socialist program, until one day America will be a Socialist nation, without knowing how it happened.”

Socialist Party presidential candidate Norman Thomas

Shut up and dance

Some of you may have seen this already but here's enviromentalist moonbat John Travolta's yard...aka Travolta International Jetway. He logged over 30,000 miles in his 5 gas-guzzeling jets last year, yet still manages to lecture us little people about how we should be doing our part to save the planet. You'd think that with all that jet-setting around the world he wouldn't have time for such hypocracy...you'd be wrong.

It [global warming] is a very valid issue. I'm wondering if we need to think about other planets and dome cities. Everyone can do their bit. But I don't know if it's not too late already. We have to think about alternative methods of fuel.

Maybe if we domed Hollywood, all the blowhard celebrities' hot air that gets trapped there could be used to make electricity for the rest of us. Or better yet, just relocate Hollywood to Mars. That'll solve all kinds of headaches back here on Earth.

Even dumb celebrities get it right once in a while

Normally drunk with hatred, bloated moonbat "actor" Alec Baldwin actually managed to do something nice for somebody...

PHOENIX - Actor Alec Baldwin was so moved by the story of an 18-year-old Army soldier who is scheduled to serve in Iraq, he's going to help pay for her college education after she leaves the military.

Baldwin was so moved by a March 4 New York Times story about Pvt. Resha Kane's last day with family and friends before going for training to prepare for serving in Iraq that he — not his people — tracked down Kane's mother at a discount store where she works to offer his assistance, his spokesman said.

See, I will give credit to even a dispicaple, loathsome moonbat like Alec Baldwin when he does something deserving of it. Tomorrow, he'll return to spewing his vile, wrethched, hatefullness, but for today, he gets a star from me.

Too much time on their hands

Ok, here's the mudflap art that we have all seen on countless trucks on the freeway. Is it offensive to some motorists? Probably, but where in the Constitution does it guarantee Americans not to be offended?
Is it part of the American highway culture to which we've all grown accustomed? Absolutely.
Is it the most absurd idea in the world, since man-made global warming, to try to ban mudflap art? Definitely.

Proving that she either has way too much time on her hands or is vastly overpaid or both, Rep. Theresa Ulmer of Yuma whined about the mudflaps thusly;

"I personally am tired of explaining to my 11-year-old son why they (women) are depicted on mudflaps, but not all women are 36Ds. He's very confused by that."

By outing her son as a boob-obsessed adolescent, incapapable of grasping even the simplest differences between human beings of the same gender, she has doomed him to a childhood of playground ridicule and locker-room abuse.

And here is the compromise mudflap design.

Personally, I'm more offended by the silhouette of a fat, bloated trucker on the mudflap than by a busty babe.

No rest for the weary

Sorry about the light posting the last couple of days. I've been jammed up at work and no time at night either. Maybe the weekend will bring some time.

Until then, consider this an open thread and rant about anything that's bothering you.

Eco-anxiety---heh, heh

Here's a shot of the Goreacle indoctrinating a group of mind-numbed eco-drones into the church of modern environmentalism. Sadly for the weak-minded among us, like these Gorebots, all the hysteria and hype over imagined global climate change has caused an clinical disorder known comically as eco-anxiety. Treating this wholly imagined disorder in the mental midgets who "suffer" from it, has created a lucrative cottage industry, much like the idiotic scam whereby dumb liberals purchase carbon-offsets from whom else? Al Gore, of course.

Global warming, pesticides in food, nuclear waste — it's enough to keep a person up at night.

Indeed, a growing number of people have literally worried themselves sick over various environmental doomsday scenarios.

Their worry even has a name: eco-anxiety.

Melissa Pickett, an eco-therapist with a practice in Santa Fe, sees anywhere from 40 to 80 eco-anxious patients a month. They complain of panic attacks, loss of appetite, irritability and unexplained bouts of weakness, sleeplessness and "buzzing," which they describe as the eerie feeling that their cells are twitching. Pickett's remedies include telling patients to carry natural objects, like certain minerals, for a period of weeks. Making environmentally friendly lifestyle changes can also prove therapeutic, she said.

The fears of the eco-anxious are fueled by abundant media coverage of crises like global warming, collapsed fisheries and food shortages. The Oscar-winning documentary "An Inconvenient Truth" warns that only 10 years might remain to avert a major environmental catastrophe.

So, whenever you fart, simply send Al Gore a five dollar bill and he'll absolve you of your methane sin. And when you can't cope with the stress of the coming floods, pestilence, and famine caused by global warming, simply pay Melissa Pickett $90 an hour and she'll give you a pet rock to carry in your pocket.

Dumb hippies exercising their "rights"

Here's what your basic smelly hippie war protester looks like. Sure, he's supremely objectionable, half-witted, and smelly but this is America and there are no laws against public stupidity.

But there is another brand of stupid hippie, a vile, loathsome degenerate type of hippie. Here they are in action at the anti-war rally in SanFran last week. This is one of the most disturbing videos I've seen of stupid hippies trying to recapture their glory days of Vietnam. Listen to the chanting of the crowd. It's as awful as the images.

There is supposedly another video making the rounds, but I won't show it here, of a guy defecating on the American flag in front of women and children.

If you are aligned with the anti-war left in this country, you should look around and see with whom it is you are sleeping. These people on the left in this country are a bunch of sickos. You never, never see conservatives acting like this. And if you did, the media would be condemning them left and right, but if leftist, hate-America radicals do it, it all but gets ignored as a normal popular reaction to the war. This is because deep down, the people in the media believe that America is evil and they see nothing wrong with this anti-social behavior.

Deplorable, just deplorable!

a great waste of time

If you're looking for a cool game to play during your company mandated break or during the time when all the smokers go out to get a fix, check out Tower Defense. Basically, you are trying to protect your castle and the civilians contained within from the hords of marauders by building and locating defenses of various types. It's fast paced, addictive, and easy to get killed...in other words...fun.

Hat tip to Conservative Grapevine.

Idiot environmental zealots...get even stupider

The barking moonbats down under are a special breed of stupid. Check this out...

SYDNEY: Australia’s largest city will be plunged into darkness for an hour on Saturday in an attempt at a world first blackout to raise awareness of global warming, organisers say.

A successful switch-off could then be copied by major cities around the world in a drive to reduce the greenhouse gas emissions blamed for climate change, according to international conservation group WWF.

The lights will go out in landmark headquarters buildings in Sydney’s central business district, on the iconic Harbour Bridge and Opera House, and in tens of thousands of suburban homes. ‘Earth Hour’, which begins at 7:30 pm (0930 GMT) on March 31, has been planned for 10 months by WWF in partnership with city authorities, businesses and a major newspaper group.

A thousand businesses have signed up, including many of the top blue-chip companies on the Australian stock market — and even McDonald’s is going to turn off its ‘Golden Arches’ signs. Scientists link dangerous global temperature increases to the greenhouse effect, in which gases emitted by burning fossil fuels to produce energy trap heat in the atmosphere.

The illustration is an artists rendition of what Sidney will look like for the hour of no electricity. Is this how you nutty environmentalists want to live your self-involved lives?

Don't be deceived into thinking that these church-of-environmentalism worshipers are concerned only with preserving the environment, or repairing the imaginary ozone hole, or forcing everybody to eat free-range chickens. They are agressively anti human race. To them, humans are a parasite on Mother Earth and she would be better off without us. They would love for there to not be a human race in existence but since that's not possible, they want the next best thing which is for us to return to the pre-industrialization hardships of the 17th century...thus the electricity black-out.

That people continue to willingly be duped by this global-warming hooey is astonishing.

Ed's health tip of the day

My doctor told me two things a year ago following my yearly physical: "One", she lectured, "you need to lose 10-15 pounds. And two, your cholesterol level is 216."
Anything above 200 is cause for worry, and anything over 240 is cause for serious worry. So ever since then, I've been eating oatmeal like Farrah Fawcet eats Percodans, hoping to avoid a heart attack.
Last week, I participated in a research study at work, part of which consisted of a fasting cholesterol test. Needless to say I was acutely interested in the results to know if the daily oatmeal was of benefit. My cholesterol level was 145--I'm the picture of health, not just for my own age, but for anybody.
The moral of the story: Hide the Percodan's if Farrah drops by, and do not believe the cholesterol test results unless you fasted for 10 hours prior to having blood drawn. If you ate a steak and eggs for breakfast and then had the test, all that temporary cholesterol will still be in your blood, and your doctor will lecture you too.

Movie review

I just finished watching The Freedom Writers. It's based on a true story and features Hilary Swank as an eager, enthusiastic teacher who tackles an inner city class composed of rival gang members, and finds a way to show them they have value and a contribution to make to the world, to make them want to learn, and want to be successful despite their various horrible life situations.
I have always had respect for inner-city teachers. They have the most difficult jobs imaginable under the worst circumstances, and with the least resources, and I know I've ranted about the dreadful public education system in this country and how the jaded and cynical teachers' unions exist to preserve teachers' jobs and indoctrinate the students in liberalism. It's infuriating to watch in this movie, the depiction of teachers stifling classroom innovation and creativity because it doesn't fit the approved teaching model. Let me tell you, this movie nails the career, education bureaucrats like none I've seen.
This is definitely a movie worth seeing. It gives you hope that a good teacher, even with limited resources, can overcome the lumbering education bureaucracy.
I give it 4.5 rants out of 5.0 just because there were no explosions or car chases.
