“The American people will never knowingly adopt Socialism. But under the name of ‘liberalism’ they will adopt every fragment of the Socialist program, until one day America will be a Socialist nation, without knowing how it happened.”

Socialist Party presidential candidate Norman Thomas

Another TRR public service announcement

Kids, if I've said it once, I've said it a couple of times, stay in school, don't taunt the wild animals at the zoo, and don't get involved with drugs. This is why.....

This is champion figure skater Nicole Bobek when she was a performer with Campbell's Stars on Ice....

And this is her mugshot after becoming a kingpin in the New Jersey methamphetamine trade.

Any questions?

Pro-tip for fireworks enthusiasts and jack-asses

As funny as it might sound when your friends are talking about it and trying to get you to try it, don't under any circumstances, ever, Eh-VER, put a firecracker in your ass and light it......

'Nuff said!

We at TRR humbly apologize for the graphic nature of this photo but, in the interest of public safety we thought it prudent to show how dangerous, even small-seeming fireworks can be.....plus, we found it hilarious that a grown man would do such a thing. Do you think malt liquor and a shallow gene pool may have played a small role here?

Time for the Tour!!!

It's that time if year again folks, time for the Tour de France. I'm certain that all TRR readers are glued to their sets at night to watch Frankie Andreu and Bob Roll deliver expanded coverage of that day's stage drama. Unless you live under a rock or in a refrigerator box over a steam vent somewhere, in which case you should be out looking for a job instead of reading stupid blogs, you probably know that Lance Armstrong is back in cycling and rides for Team Astana. Of the 8 or 9 guys who have the ability to win the Tour, 4 of them are on Astana. It should be riveting to watch them fight it out in the mountains to establish who among them is the deserving team leader.
Plus, if you pay attention, you get to see some beautiful scenery of the French countryside, it's villiages, and even hear a bit of old-world history of the area....for the inner nerd in each of us.

I hope you enjoy the race every year as much as I do, especially as commentated by Phil Ligget and Paul Sherwin, both former professional cyclists.

Burdening everybody on behalf of a few idiots

Here is precisely why the federal government is the worst entity to be running any business......

Through Minneapolis/St. Paul international airport, approximately 34,000,000 people travel each year. Of those, about 20,000 show up at the wrong gate for connecting flights or departures. Based on the complaints of 0.059% of travelers who apparently can't read, the airport will spend about $2.2million to re-sign the concourses. This is on the heels of a $3million renovation project.

First, these idiots who travel in Minnesota are the same idiots who elected jester Al Franken to represent them in the US Senate. Why would anybody think new signage would help people that stupid find the right gate?

Moreover, renovations always end up costing the public at the retail level. Prices for everything at the airport will increase in order to pay for renovations and re-signage like this....as if $17.00 for a tuna-salad sandwich and a beer wasn't enough already.

Last, underachieving, government bureaucrats don't have any accountability for the money they spend the way private managers do. Private businesses lose money when they do something wasteful and somebody gets fired for it. In government, nobody gets fired no matter how incompetently they do their jobs or how wasteful they are with taxpayer money.

There is no business that can't be run 10 times more efficiently by private companies than by government. Whether it's car manufacturing, banking, Amtrack, US Postal Service, national park management, or airport management, private enterprise can do it better and for less costs than the behemouth, federal bureacracy.

Interesting note: the title of this post applies not only to Minneapolis airport management but, also to the state of Minnesota for buredening America with Al Franken.

Sarah Palin: political brilliance or political hari kari?

This news was part of the "Friday dump" cycle....

WASILLA, Alaska (AP) - Even for a nonconformist, Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin defies political logic with her sudden, stunning announcement to leave office more than a year early.

Supporters and critics alike say the former GOP vice presidential candidate's resignation, announced Friday afternoon and effective July 26, is an inexplicable move for a high profile Republican widely seen as a contender for a White House run in 2012. A half-term governor campaigning for president?

"If she is thinking that leaving her term 16 months early is going to help her prepare to maybe go on to bigger and better things on the political stage, I think she's sadly mistaken. You just can't quit," said Andrew Halcro, a Palin critic who lost the 2006 gubernatorial race to her.

Palin's abrupt announcement Friday rattled the Republican Party but left open the possibility of a presidential run. She and her staff are keeping mum on her future plans.

I don't blame her for wanting the absurd ethics claims by lower-48 liberals to end, or for her family to be spared further scrutiny and humiliation by the brutal, liberal media but, if you have higher, national, political ambitions, you cannot quit your first term as governor with 18 months left to serve. I realize that Obama essentially quit his first term as senator to run full-time for the presidency but he just quit showing up for work, he didn't officially quit. Plus he had the adoring, feckless media to prop him up against any, any criticism. Palin, and sadly her family, have become the punchline to too many jokes for her to be taken seriously as a presidential candidate, unless she sticks out this and one more term as Alaska governor before she runs for CiC, maybe in 2016 or even 2020.

Some people are saying it's a shrewd political move so she can spend more time in the lower 48 giving speeches, raising money for GOP candidates, becoming a serious politician rather than the political oddity she is currently. I disagree. I think it's suicide because she'll always have to defend against the "quitter" charge. What do you think?

Happy 4th to TRR readers!

Everybody have a safe and happy 4th! Try not to get distracted by all the other crap in the news today, instead remember the vision our founding fathers had when they declared independence from Great Britain 233 years ago. And then look around and see how far we've drifted from that. If you don't know what I'm talking about, then you were obviously "educated" in dreadful government schools where your self-esteem was stroked and the curriculum consisted of idiotic, environmental propaganda and advocacy sex education. You should run, not walk to the book store and pick up copies of Mark Levin's book Liberty and Tyranny, and/or Glenn Beck's book Common Sense, and educate yourself instead of obsessing over 24/7 Michael Jackson TV coverage.

If you are in a different country, then the US is 233 years old today. Very young by most country's standards but well beyond the 200 year average that most democracies last. It's a tentative cross-roads that we approach here in America. Do we turn left and become a 2nd-rate welfare state like most of Europe, or do we turn right and repel the insidious encroachment of government nanny-statism and embrace the ideals of our founding fathers, which include individual responsibility, limited government, personal liberty, and free-market capitalism? Wish us luck in our struggle, for the ripple effect of a weakened America will be felt around the world.

Hapless oaf Robert Gibbs gets schooled....yet again.

Hapless oaf Robert Gibbs is challenged, at long last, by the white house press corps for not allowing open questions but, rather pre-screening questions sent in by e-mail by reporters the night before. Watch Helen Thomas humiliate Gibbs over the transparency and openness that Obama lied to us about......

Finally, the media is getting tired of being treated like school-children by the this administration. Why it took six months is anybody's guess. Both Gibbs and Obama are incapable of forming a lucid thought on the fly, instead requiring writers spoon-feed answers for them to regurgitate or read off the teleprompter. Maybe if they raise a big enough stink, Gibbs and Obama will have no choice but to return to the way presidential press conferences and daily press briefings have always been held in this country....unrehearsed and unscreened. You field the questions as they are asked.

When stupid people kill their kids

Ordinarily, if an adult had been the victim here, I'd be making jokes but, not when it's a child...

MIAMI (Reuters) - A Florida toddler was strangled on Wednesday by a 12-foot (3.6-meter) albino Burmese python that escaped from a holding tank in the girl's home, authorities said.
The pet's owner, a boyfriend of the child's mother, found the python on top of the 2-year-old girl in the rural community of Oxford, about 50 miles northwest of Orlando.

The python apparently broke free in the night, entered the girl's bedroom and attacked her.

"This is very rare," Patricia Behnke of the Florida Fish and Wildlife Commission told reporters.

First, how stupid and incompetent of a mother must you be, to allow your idiot, Peter-Pan syndromed boyfriend to live in a house with your female child? You don't do that!
Second, what responsible, grown man owns large, carnivorous reptiles as pets? I'll bet this guy was that high-school dropout who hung around the roller-rink parking lot macking on 15 year-old girls because he couldn't relate to adult women.
Last, if you are going to keep a large snake in your house, how do you not make absolutely sure he can't escape, knowing that the baby will be it's first victim.

How many times do I have to say it? You cannot under any circumstances form a bond of trust and friendship with a reptile, as if it's a cat or dog. You are nothing but it's next meal if you give it the opportunity to eat you or a member of your family.

Idiots! I swear!!!

Congress.....apparently unaware there's a recession going on

pelosi%2527s jet Pictures, Images and Photos

While Americans struggle to cope with the faltering economy, keep their crap jobs, and watch the federal government take a swindler's share of our income and liberty, beltway politicians are living the dream on money they seized from us.....

WASHINGTON -- Spending by lawmakers on taxpayer-financed trips abroad has risen sharply in recent years, a Wall Street Journal analysis of travel records shows, involving everything from war-zone visits to trips to exotic spots such as the Galápagos Islands.

The spending on overseas travel is up almost tenfold since 1995, and has nearly tripled since 2001, according to the Journal analysis of 60,000 travel records. Hundreds of lawmakers traveled overseas in 2008 at a cost of about $13 million.
That's a 50% jump since Democrats took control of Congress two years ago.

The cost of so-called congressional delegations, known among lawmakers as "codels," has risen nearly 70% since 2005, when an influence-peddling scandal led to a ban on travel funded by lobbyists, according to the data.

Lawmakers say that the trips are a good use of government funds because they allow members of Congress and their staff members to learn more about the world, inspect U.S. assets abroad and forge better working relationships with each other.

They can't even come up with good rationalizations. Let's take a look...

-learn more about the world--if they had gone to private or home schools instead of dreadful government schools and studied history and international civics instead of learning to put condoms on cucumbers, they'd know about the world without taking a private jet around to see it.

-inspect US assets abroad--there are already people in place for that who get paid by the taxpayers already. And what US assets are there in high-brow, Paris bistros or the Galapagos Islands that need inspecting?

-forge better relationships with each other--this is just plain stupid! Why must they fly their families to Rome for the Easter weekend, like Pelosi did, in order to forge relationships when they could do it old-school like Ted Kennedy used to.....in a smoky bar with a bottle of single-malt Scotch and some drunk interns?

This is your despicable representation in Washington ladies and gentlemen, living large on your dime, while you scrounge each of your dimes to make it to the end of the month.

Pituful excuse for light posting

My desk is no where near this messy but, it feels like I have this much to do. Sorry for the light posting lately, I've been necessarily distracted by work matters, and other things. Thanks for checking in anyway. I'll be putting some stuff up regularly throughout the holiday weekend so try and keep up. Thanks,
