“The American people will never knowingly adopt Socialism. But under the name of ‘liberalism’ they will adopt every fragment of the Socialist program, until one day America will be a Socialist nation, without knowing how it happened.”

Socialist Party presidential candidate Norman Thomas

Stay classy, democrats

If a republican was revealed to have done this, there'd be hell to pay in the media.....

From FoxNews -- A lot of politicians give nicknames to their aides. George W. Bush famously referred to his attorney general, Alberto Gonzalez, as “Fredo.” Mitch Daniels, then head of the Office of Management and Budget, was known as “The Blade.” Barack Obama reportedly called Larry Summers, his chief economic advisor, “Dr. Kevorkian.”

Rep. Sheila Jackson Lee of Texas also hands out nicknames to the people who work for her. The Houston Democrat addressed one of her employees as “you stupid motherf**ker.” And not just once, but “constantly,” recalls the staffer, “like, all the time.”

I swear, the more loathsome the democrat, the bigger pass they get from the complicit media who provide cover for them. No republican would ever get a pass for something this egregious, but Rep. Lee is a minority democrat so she's got all the cover she needs.

Another crazed Muslim kills Americans and ABC and Obama studiously avoid mentioning that he's Muslim

From ABCNews -- A gunman shouting "Allah Akbar" opened fire on a bus carrying U.S. airmen in Frankfurt, Germany, killing two and wounding two others before his gun jammed and he was subdued, officials said.

An ethnic Albanian from Kosovo was taken into custody and the FBI was heading an investigation because U.S. citizens were killed and to determine whether the shooting was an act of terrorism.

President Obama made an unscheduled appearance to say, "I am saddened and I am outraged by this attack" and U.S. investigators would work with German authorities and "spare no effort" to ensure that "all of the perpetrators are brought to justice."

I just got through watching Obama's press conference and neither he nor ABC news made any mention of the shooter yelling "Allah Akbar" as he fired his weapon. I'll bet he makes no mention of it in the next few days other than to "caution against rushes to judgement until all the information is in" and "the acts of one man should not impugn an entire religion", that sort of crap. And Jay Carney will studiously avoid mentioning it in the next few days, even under direct questioning. Why is this administration loathe to lay blame where it belongs? Why is Obama a strident radical-Islam defender, even in the face of evidence like this?

Get with the gay rights program or lose your rights

POSTED BY BILL

In a ruling that sounds like it comes from dystopian  fiction, a court in Britain says that devout Christians can be barred as foster parents if they believe that "homosexuality is against God's law and morals."  The Equality and Human Rights Commission had helpfully weighed in with the warning that children could be "infected" with Christian beliefs.

Read the whole heartwarming story here:

Misleading poll questions mislead the public

Seriously, who's surprised that New York's most famous catbox liner discovered that Americans overwhelmingly support the unions?

From NYTimes via Hotair -- Americans oppose weakening the bargaining rights of public employee unions by a margin of nearly two to one: 60 percent to 33 percent. While a slim majority of Republicans favored taking away some bargaining rights, they were outnumbered by large majorities of Democrats and independents who said they opposed weakening them.

The questions were totally loaded to get the respondent to answer a certain way. Here's an example:

*In order to reduce state budget deficits, do you favor or oppose cutting pay and benefits for public employees?

Notice they didn't ask about unionized public employees, just public employees. Also, they didn't give the respondent an opportunity to separate pay from benefits, nor did they accurately portray the labor situation in Wisconsin where they aren't cutting pay or benefits, just asking employees to contribute more to their own retirement and health-care commensurate with the rest of working Americans.

As always Rush Limabugh hit it out of the park when he suggested this poll question on his show today:

(paraphrased) Would you support paying higher taxes to fund the salaries and benefits packages of unionized public employees, who already make on average twice what you do, who don't have to contribute much of anything to their own retirement, pay nothing for health-care, and have lifetime job security?

I'll bet if the NYTimes asked that question of the same sampling of people, the results would be the opposite of what they reported. Don't ever believe polling results until you've read the questions.

Playing God and selfishly preserving a life?

I'm sure you've heard about the 18month old in Canada who is in a persistent vegetative state and kept alive by ventilator and feeding tubes. Canadian authorities won't release him to be taken to the US for continued care, essentially dooming him to the end of his life there at the hospital. We saw the same thing with Terri Schiavo, Karen Anne Quinlan, and others.

Obviously these tragic situations present difficult ethical, moral, and social questions. Here's my take:

In a persistent vegetative state, it is my understanding that only the primitive brain stem is functioning. There is no self-awareness or consciousness. The expressions, movements, and reactions to stimuli that family members report as proof of consciousness are simply rudimentary and coincidental movements associated with artificial life preservation. This means to me that keeping this person "alive", if you can call that existence life, serves only to provide a focal point for the family to direct their love and attendance. I contend that introducing in the first place, life-support tubes, is playing God rather than removing them is playing God. When all hope of recovery is lost, no humans body should be kept artificially alive for the pleasure of a family who cannot bring themselves to let go.

A dignified death is the least we should be able to expect from our loved ones.

The law of unintended consequences strikes again

Heh heh, stupid San Francisco liberals have literally s**t themselves....

From SFGate -- San Francisco's big push for low-flow toilets has turned into a multimillion-dollar plumbing stink.

Skimping on toilet water has resulted in more sludge backing up inside the sewer pipes, said Tyrone Jue, spokesman for the city Public Utilities Commission. That has created a rotten-egg stench near AT&T Park and elsewhere, especially during the dry summer months.

The only way to get rid of the human filth backing up the sewers and get rid of the awful smell is to flush $14million worth of bleach down the drains over the next 3 years. That's 8.5million pounds of bleach being dumped into the bay every year, and nutty environmentalists are none too happy about it. So their choice is between destroying the wildlife in the SF Bay or living in their own filth.....what's a dumb environmentalist to do?

That's what you get you stupid morons! Enjoy your eco-conscious lives....heh heh!

RIP Frank Buckles

POSTED BY BILL

The last living American WW 1 veteran has died at 110, just over 92 years after the "War to end all wars."  The last of 2 million.  RIP and thank you for your service, sir.

My maternal grandfather was a WW 1 veteran, and he grew up surrounded by Civil War veterans, who had grown up around veterans of the Revolution.  Our country is really so young, with only a few generations separating us from the founding.  If I am correct, the term "Generation X" was coined to denote it as being the 10th generation of the United States.

It is up to us and our children and grandchildren to make sure there are 10 or more subsequent generations of Americans.
Democrats love to blame greedy corporations for outsourcing but it's the government from which corporations are fleeing. 3M CEO George Buckley puts it perfectly....

From FinancialTimes -- Mr Buckley, who has run the diversified manufacturer since 2005, said: “There is a sense among companies that this is a difficult place to do business. It is about regulation, taxation, seemingly anti-business policies in Washington, attitudes towards science.”

He added: “Politicians forget that business has choice. We’re not indentured servants and we will do business where it’s good and friendly. If it’s hostile, incrementally, things will slip away. We’ve got a real choice between manufacturing in Canada and Mexico – which tend to be pro-business – or America.”

The US now has the highest corporate tax rate of all industrialized nations. The hyper-regulatory nature of our government throttles innovation, retards expansion, and punishes success. Additionally, political correctness thwarts competition with quotas, set-asides, and preferential treatment for the undeserving. Frankly I'm shocked that we have any companies still doing business here. If the regulations aren't rescinded, taxes drastically lowered, and free-market competition allowed to work it's magic, the US economy is unalterable destined for moribundity...if it's not there already.

Unions get the hat top at Oscars

I didn't watch the whole show last night, but for the parts I did watch, the only reference to lefty causes I heard were two winners who went out of their way to thank their "UNION crews", with stress on the word "union". Unless there were others, I guess the Oscars were more or less politics free....a refreshing change from past years. But then, when the messianic, democrat President is in the white house rather then the loathsome republican George Bush, celebrities are loathe to criticize the government or it's policies.

So I guess it wasn't entirely unwatchable TV, but thank goodness for the "last channel" button on the remote so we could click back and forth between the Oscars and Through the Worm Hole on the Science channel.

TRR Oscar poll question

Which lefty cause will get the most attention from smug celebrity dingbats at the Oscars?
Evil republicans attacking unions
Anti-American revolution in the middle east(even though it's not)
No blood for oil
Human rights in Tibet
Who cares? I won't be watching
